A DREAM – THE FEAR OF THE LORD

Julie Meyer – August 2010

I had a dream. I had just parked my car at the International House Of Prayer parking lot and I was headed inside.  As I stepped out of the car to my amazement, I saw a large angel standing on top of the roof. He looked to be about 30 feet tall.  This angel stood on the corner of the building with a sword in His hand, pointing directly to the north. He did not move, but only pointed, resolute as a statue.  The Sword was shimmering.  It was brilliant and shinning. …

I found myself looking back and forth between the Angel pointing at the sky in the North and then looking at this Giant Sun full of the most vibrant colors. As I turned again and began to study the Angel holding this glimmering Sword I saw carved across the sword were five words in bold, black letters: The Fear of the Lord. This angel held his sword so assertively. He did not shy away from those words. He was bolstered by what they meant. If anything was true, the angel knew who God was.

In an instant I knew that the Fear of the Lord was coming ‘into’ His House.  The Awe of God was arising in a new Way throughout the earth and in His Body.

At that moment I was reminded of Exodus 20:20: “. . . that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.” Deep within my heart I heard the Holy Spirit say, The fear of the Lord is coming. The awe of the God of Israel is arising in the midst of the prayer movement. It is arising in the midst of My House.

All this happened even before I was inside the building. So when I walked through the front door of the prayer room, I was surprised to come face to face with a mountain that was veiled by dense fog.

Not every one was allowed to walk up this Great Mountain. Only those with clean hands and a pure heart. Everyone not allowed to ascend stood and looked up at the great, hidden mountain, wondering what was beyond the haze.

With great anticipation I began my journey. In silence myself and others ascended high into the cloud of gray, heavy vapor, unsure of what we would find or where we would stop. I and those walking with me could only see the next single step in front of us. In the cool gray breeze, I soon lost the sense that anyone else was with me.

As I approached nearer the top of this mountain, I realized I was literally walking ‘up’ the mountain of the Lord.  I was ‘in’ Ps 24.  I was ascending up and up and up.  I had to set my heart for the journey.  It was not easy but I could not stop walking up and up and up.  I was walking on a narrow path and I thought of Matt 7 –Strive to stay on the narrow path’.  It was a path well trodden and I pondered the Patriarchs of old who had walked them same path.

I had some baggage with me that I was carrying, but I realized I would never make it to the top of the mountain if I kept it with me.  So I took it off and laid it down.  I saw many people around me not want to take off their baggage, they wanted to keep it and they were not able to ascend up.  They stopped and started walking back down the mountain.

I came upon an old man with a ‘rod’ in his right hand.  He had a long white beard and long, wild, white hair past his shoulders. I noticed his face was set to go up.  He was not looking to the left of the right; His face was ‘set’.  He was not turning around or even grumbling about the steepness of the path.  I saw people in front of him begin to look for short cuts or different paths and they would get off of the path headed up trying to find an easier way.  This old man said ‘There are no short cuts and there are no other paths.  There is only one way and it is this path.  If you stay on it, it will lead you straight to the top.’  As he spoke; his words seemed to penetrate to the very core of my heart and I kept telling myself, ‘stay on the path, there are no short cuts, keep walking, keep walking.’   I happen to see a road sign and written on the sign were these words ‘The Pathway Of Humility’.  At that exact moment I realized I was literally walking this path with Moses. It was like in an instant my eyes were open to see the humility, the diligence, and the zeal of this man that seemed to give him great authority and presence.  He continued up the mountain saying those words over and over ‘There are no short cuts and there are no other paths.  There is only one way and it is this path.  If you stay on it, it will lead you straight to the top.”

Finally as we ascended to the very top of this magnificent mountain.  I saw Men and Women standing at the very top and crying out Psalm 24:7, “Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.”I realized ‘this’ is the place of great authority.  This is the place where we have the authority to cry out ‘Lift up your heads, O you gates!”  Many people get this invitation but few make the whole journey.
