David Pawson: "MOST PASTORS admit to me they ARE COMPROMISED AND KNOW IT, but the fear of losing members…"

“He [Martin Luther] swept away relics, pilgrimages, purgatory, indulgences, five of the seven sacraments, and he was willing to bring the sole test of scripture to all of these areas, and was bold enough to deal with them. That kind of courage is desperately needed in the church today, desperately. But I find there are few voices that are willing to tell it as it is. Most pastors admit to me freely they are compromised and know it, but the fear of losing members when your church is already shrinking is a kind of syndrome that is difficult to resist.”

(vid) Pawson: Lukewarm Laodicea – "HOT or *COLD*" Explained! *High mineral salts* water could only be drunk hot or cold. If lukewarm, it makes one vomit • Because of Laodicea's half-hearted discipleship, Jesus says He is on the verge of spewing the people out of His mouth. Half-hearted discipleship makes Jesus sick!

“You can drink this kind of water when it’s hot, and you can drink it when it’s freezing cold, but you cannot drink it when it’s lukewarm. It acts like an emetic, and it just makes you sick. You just vomit.” – David Pawson

We’ve reached Rev. 3:14-22 which was the last of Jesus’ letters. It was to Laodicea and Jesus used the local geological feature of thermal water with salts to make a point. When it was fresh out of the ground, it was boiling hot and drinkable. When it reached Laodicea it was lukewarm and made you physically sick. That picture is used by Jesus to show how He feels about this church. This church was further away from the ‘throne of Satan’ at Pergamum, than the other churches and so were not troubled with any persecution. It was an insult to Jesus that they really couldn’t care one way or the other about faithful obedience. Well this church was like that. Because of their half hearted discipleship, Jesus said He is on the verge of spewing the church out of His mouth. Half hearted discipleship makes Jesus sick. If a husband or wife felt that way about their other half, divorce would result.

“I believe Satan is destroying male and female quite deliberately.”

“We’re living in a funny world, a world in which people don’t want to accept what God has made them. … Most of the [homosexual] men I’ve counseled … have been men who wanted to be looked after, rather than the responsibility of looking after anyone else. … They want to be a woman, and have a man to look after them, rather than face up to the responsibilities of being a man under God.”

“Christian men ought to be leading society uphill, rather than following society downhill. But it seems to me that the church follows the world, only 15 years later. So we get a reputation for being old fashioned and behind the times, because we are reluctant to go down the road. The world accepted homosexuality 20 years ago; the church is just now beginning to accept it. … Christians just slowly follow the world downhill.”

The trend to remove gender from even God in Bibles (1:08:30):

“It is all part of a mood in which the church is accepting the spirit of the age, rather than asking the Holy Spirit to be the leader.”

(video) David Pawson: “Leadership is Male” (in the home and in the church) — “The demand for IDENTITY between the sexes has caused so many problems. …  I’ve found that every woman, deep down in their heart, want to see their men-folk taking responsible leadership”

“Because of the feminist pressures on us, the demand for not just equality between the sexes, the demand for identity between the sexes is the thing that has caused so many problems — and indeed has broken up family life — and broken up church life.”

“Basically, I’m saying, that in the Bible, God teaches He made men to take the leadership in both the home and in the church, and that is His pattern. This is not a put-down for women. Indeed, I’ve had a whole stack of letters of thanks for this book — not once from a man, but always from a woman. And it is not putting women down. It’s facing men with their responsibilities before God. And deep down, I’ve found that every woman, deep down in their heart, want to see their men-folk taking responsible leadership. They are under God responsible for providing for their lady and for protecting her. And deep down, every woman wants that. She despises a man who will not take his responsibilities properly.”

(video) David Pawson: “The Road To Hell” – Book Promo — Most of Christ’s teaching on HELL was ADDRESSED TO HIS FOLLOWERS — “I am convinced that the recovery of this neglected truth is vital to the health of Christ’s body”

Many preachers are reluctant to explain what the Bible teaches about hell. David Pawson sets out clearly the teaching of the New Testament on this vital topic. The book includes a section of “Scripture Studies” which are useful for personal and group study and to equip preachers.

Most of Christ’s teaching on this uncomfortable subject was addressed to his followers, yet it hardly features in sermons today. Challenging the modern alternatives of liberal “universalism” and evangelical “annihilationism”, David Pawson presents the traditional concept of endless torment as soundly biblical, illustrating his argument with in-depth Scripture studies on controversial passages. Heaven is also a reality, he affirms, but it is hell which is being overlooked.

“Hell is the most offensive and least acceptable of all Christian doctrines. We try to ignore it but it won’t go away. Better to face the truth, even if it hurts. I am convinced that the recovery of this neglected truth is vital to the health of Christ’s body.” David Pawson (source)

“I have noticed this, that people who believe in ‘once saved always saved’ believe it because they’ve listened to someone who taught it. I’ve met many people who’ve only got their Bible, particularly the people in prison, for example, and with only the Bible they all come out on the other side. They’ve read in their Bible warnings that you can lose your faith.

In fact, I’ve discovered there are 80 passages in the New Testament that warn us not to lose what we’ve found in Christ. And when you look up those 80 passages it’s pretty impressive. Every writer in the New Testament has a warning somewhere, or a statement that we need to continue in faith, and not just start in faith.”

“Paul has some very clear statements. In Romans 11, which preachers rarely quote, it says: ‘if you do not continue in His kindness you too will be cut off.'”

According to what Jesus said to the church of Sardis, only those who overcome will not have their names removed from the Book of Life.

This is a balancing message — a message to bring us into balance.

Why our gospel, John 3:16 is not the true gospel.

The heart of the gospel is not that God loves us. We’ve made a terrible mistake emphasizing something the Bible does not.

“So we have had what I believe is an overemphasis on the God of love in our preaching to non-believers, something that the New Testament apostles never did, as I will show you from the Bible in a few moments.”

“Unconditional love” is not found in the Bible.

“God is righteous. … Everything He does is right. … You can trust God totally.”

“He died to make us holy.”

Description from David Pawson.org…, which also has the video:

What kind of God do we present and what kind of gospel do we preach to a lost world ? Most Christians today answer in terms of God’s love, yet there are surprisingly few references to this in the Bible. … Particularly significant in the absence of any mention in Acts, the only record we have of evangelism in the early church.

By contrast, Scripture concentrates on divine goodness and righteousness. Everything God does is right; He is incapable of doing anything wrong. One day, He will put right everything that has gone wrong in His good world, punishing and banishing evil and making a brand new earth and heaven the ‘home of righteousness’.

But can we be a part of this? The good news is that, through the Cross and Resurrection, God offers His own righteousness to us, provided we are willing to repent of our sins and our self-righteousness. Bad people can be made good, sinners can turn into saints, the wicked can become righteous and we can be recycled to live in a righteous universe. The world needs to hear about God and the Gospel of righteousness
