Dr. Eran Elhaik, geneticist researcher at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, found that today’s “Jews” originated from Khazaria and not Israel. They are not the seed of Abraham.
The newest DNA science finding is from Dr. Eran Elhaik (“a Jew”) and associates at the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In research accepted December 5, 2012 and published by the Oxford University Press on behalf of the Society of Molecular Biology and Evolution, it was found that the “Khazarian Hypothesis” is scientifically correct.

Have they checked the DNA of the Samaritans who are partial Jew? Are they able to validate their Jewry?
Where have they found “true Jews” by which they can test their theory based on their DNA?
How are they able to tell what makes a “true Jew”?

I don’t have all the answers yet, including what is a true Jew, but find this fascinating. I did add three more links at the end of the above article.
If it’s true that the Ashkenazis are not true Judaics, and are not even Semitic, then it’s not surprising that Israel would try to hide the true origins of the current Israelis. I’ve read that it isn’t even legal for Israelis to get DNA tests without a court order.
I only found one DNA study on who the Palestinians are, which has been retracted.
It’s very possible that only a small percentage of Israelis are true Judaics, and a large percentage of the Palestinians are true Judaics.
If you find out more information, I’m interested.
The media is mostly biased one way regarding this, so that has to be taken into consideration.
