Jesus prayed we'd be 'ONE' with each other in Him that the world will know! (John 17)

Mike Bickle: Prophetic Dream: Victorious Church in the End-Times (Rev. 12:7-12)

A. I was speaking at a conference in a baseball park inside a large fair ground. About 40,000 people were present. Many leaders and their people (from many “charismatic” streams) were present. I saw a certain leader who was representative of other leaders in the Body of Christ who seek to walk in God’s power and who walk with an excellent spirit. We were enjoying warm fellowship together.
B. I preached on prayer, God’s power and end-time judgment. I spoke at two afternoon sessions. In the break between the sessions, some were debating on what I was preaching. Some IHOP-KC people debated each other and some were speaking to believers from different ministry streams. They were debating in a friendly way about God’s power and His end-time judgment. There was no hostility, but only sincere dialogue with humility and love. It was enjoyable and intellectually stimulating but none of the different points of view stirred up real faith and revelation.
C. Immediately, as I finished the second session at 5 PM, I saw a token of a few of the events that John prophesied about in Rev. 12:7-9 when war breaks out in heaven between Satan and Michael the archangel. The result is that Satan will be cast to the earth at the beginning of the Tribulation.
7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan…he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him… (Rev. 12:7-9)
D. I did not see Satan, but only demonic principalities being cast to the earth. They looked like large snakes (over 100 yards long and 50 feet thick). Each had a large head that looked like a dragon. Many of them were coming from the sky down to the earth.
E. Every one at the conference was filled with panic. Most were terrified. No one, including me, had understanding or faith that was mature enough to respond in the power or confidence that I had just preached on. I ran as I felt the terror of the event. The leaders and their people felt terror. All wanted to quickly get out of there. Most were in confusion, including the IHOP-KC people.
F. These snake-like demonic principalities and demonic hosts with them were filled with rage against the people. They were angry and even humiliated about being confined to the earth. Satan’s rage is related to his short amount of time before going to prison (Rev. 20:1-3).
12 Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath (fury), because he knows that he has a short time…17 The dragon was enraged… he went to make war with the rest…who have the testimony of Jesus… (Rev. 12:12, 17)
G. Soot or wet, muddy, thick ash was raining down from the sky. It darkened the sky as it fell on the people who were running. I ran out of the vast fair grounds to the park offices (at the entrance). Wet ash was all over me as I ran. Many did not get out. They were bitten by the large snakes.
H. There were evil policeman at the entrance. They told me, “You have to go back into the fair grounds or we will put you in jail.” They were calloused about the danger I would face by going back into the fair grounds. I then understood they were in the Antichrist’s system. I was in a dilemma. I thought, “I just escaped from the most intense danger imaginable and now I have to go back in”. There will be no natural way out of this crisis except by the power of the Spirit.
I. When standing by the police I thought, “I wish IHOP would have taken the events in Rev. 12 more seriously and therefore, prepared more urgently in the early days when we had time. I said to myself, “the debate about power is much bigger than the power we actually walk in”. I woke up with urgency that the IHOP leadership needs greater zeal to walk in the things of the Spirit.
J. After I woke up, I was clear that fear and confusion will NOT be the condition of the entire Body of Christ when the events of Rev. 12:7 literally occur. Many will have understanding and be in a place of mature faith. The Lord was showing me what it would be like if these events happened today with the Church in its current condition (in being unprepared in understanding and faith).
K. The message of the dream was that IHOP needed to be more urgent in going deep in our walk with Jesus, in growing in faith to operate more in the Holy Spirit right now, and to eat the scroll in order to have much more understanding now and for that specific hour.
20 The anger of the LORD will not turn back until He has executed and performed the thoughts of His heart. In the latter days you will understand it perfectly. (Jer. 23:20)
L. I felt strongly that IHOP and other streams in the Body have “empty” arguments about power and insight into the end-time drama. Most arguments, in either direction, do not actually prepare people to go deeper in Jesus, His Word and Spirit. They are not helpful, thus they are empty.
M. IHOP is simply too immature to give time to theoretical debates. In this dream, the Lord was warning me to set my face toward Him and His Word and to refuse the temptation to invest time in seeking to look wise to others. What is coming is so much more intense than we imagine. Those with the most insight do not understand the intensity of the events in Rev. 12:7-12.
N. The point of the dream: I and the IHOP leadership are not mature enough in our understanding to entertain debates and casual arguments that will arise much more in the Church in the future.
O. The “now” word of God must be confirmed with power. The only way to be culturally relevant in society is to move in power to confirm the Word. Without this, many in the Church are looking for ministries with trendy language and clothes, interesting technology, or to talk about current affairs to identify together. Many are trapped in an abyss of entertainment.
P. We will only penetrate that bubble by power and the real fear of the Lord. People will not get free from the vice of our pop culture without it. People must walk away from their gatherings knowing that He is involved in their lives in power. We must experience manifestation of His majesty that makes us tremble and His kindness that moves us to repentance and servanthood.

A. Some teach that the war in heaven described in Rev. 12:7 occurred at the cross and that Satan is now confined to the earth. Satan’s host operate in the heavenly places in this age.
12 We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities…against the rulers of the darkness…against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Eph. 6:12)
B. Christ defeated Satan at the cross. However, the full scope of His victory has not yet been fully manifested on earth. At Christ’s ascension, Jesus was seated at God’s right hand, far above all authority (Eph. 1:20-22). Jesus disarmed the demonic powers and made a public spectacle of them (Col. 2:15). The “already and not yet” paradox of the Kingdom is now operating.
C. The windows of the heaven will be opened and demonic principalities will be punished. Demonic spirits and evil kings are also put in prison like Satan as prophesied by Isaiah.
18 The windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth are shaken. 19 The earth is violently broken…the earth is shaken exceedingly…20 Its transgression shall be heavy upon it…21 In that day that the LORD will punish on high the host of exalted ones (demonic principalities), and on the earth the kings of the earth. 22 They (demons and kings) will be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit (bottomless pit), and will be shut up in the prison (Rev. 20:1-3); after many days (1,000 years) they will be punished (Lake of Fire)…the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount Zion (Millennium)… (Isa. 24:18-23)
D. One of the most unique dynamics in the Tribulation is that Satan and all his demons will be cast to the earth (Rev. 12:9) and he will give his throne to the Antichrist (Rev. 13:2). Hundreds of millions of demons now in the bottomless pit will be released (Rev. 9:3, 16). Billions will be engaged in Satan worship. There will be more demonized people on earth than at any time in history.
2 The Dragon (Satan) gave him (Antichrist) his power, his throne … (Rev. 13:2)
21 There will be Great Tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world…22 Unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved… (Mt. 24:21-22)
E. The saints will overcome Satan in the Tribulation by the blood of Jesus, our testimony and commitment to Jesus even unto death.
10 I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren…has been cast down. 11 They overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. (Rev. 12:10-11)
F. The Praying Church will overcome Satan and the Antichrist (Rev. 12:11; 15:2; 2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 21; 21:7). The miracles of Exodus and Acts will be combined and multiplied on a global level. Fear need NOT dominate our spirit and extinguish our faith. We need not fear the Tribulation as powerless victims seeking to escape it.
12 The works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do… (Jn. 14:12)
G. End-time believers will engage in the prayer of faith to bind and loose according to God’s will. This passage is fulfilled on earth in the Tribulation with a victorious Church operating in power.
18 On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. (Mt. 16:18-19)
H. The Antichrist will be the greatest oppressor the world has ever seen. Isa. 42 is one of the main Second Coming passages. It emphasizes justice. People do not rejoice in judgment until an oppressor is in power. Jesus brings justice to the earth in context to the Antichrist’s oppression.
I. Jesus will only confront the oppressor to the measure that prayers of the saints ascend in faith.
4 The prayers of the saints, ascended before God…5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth… (Rev. 8:4-5)
7 Shall God not avenge (bring justice) His own elect who cry out day and night to Him…8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily (in the Tribulation). (Lk. 18:7-8)
J. The most dramatic events in world history will occur in context to the greatest prayer movement that contends against the greatest oppression to see the greatest justice movement fulfilled across the whole earth. What is released in fullness then is released in part now.

A. The message of Rev. 14 is that Jesus will supernaturally anoint the Church to walk in victory.

B. In Rev. 14:1-5, Jesus will stand on Mount Zion in Jerusalem with 144,000 prophetic singers. Rev. 14:6-13 reveals four prophetic promises and proclamations that the Spirit will release conviction on and will confirm with signs and wonders to strengthen His people.

1. In Rev. 14:6-7, we will receive angelic assistance and great power that we may succeed in preaching the Gospel to all nations in the presence of hostility (Mt. 24:14; Rev. 7:9).

2. In Rev. 14:8, the anointed proclamation of the defeat of the Harlot Babylon stirs our faith.

3. In Rev. 14:9-11, the anointed proclamation of the certainty of eternal judgment coming on all who worship the Antichrist will embolden the saints to resist even unto death.

4. In Rev. 14:12-13, the anointed proclamation of the certainty of receiving eternal rewards for being faithful will strengthen the Church.

5. In Rev. 14:14-20, we see the two different end-time harvests to be released by prayer. The harvest of souls is seen in Rev. 14:14-16 and the harvest of sin in Rev. 14:17-20. These show the results of prayers that release power for salvation and the removal of evil.

    1) Mike Bickle is a false prophet deceiving millions of unsuspecting people. He, along with Rick Joyner and Bob Jones are channeling dreams and visions from demonic forces. Mike has been preaching the same ‘messages’ as occultic mediums Jane Lead from the 16th century and Alice Bailey who channeled the New Age from satanic forces for 30 years. Through false teachers like Bickle, Rick Joyner and Rick Warren, the world is doing just as Bailey predicted. The church is becoming Universal (Warren), Occultic (Bickle) and Militant (Joyner) ! UNIVERSAL in that doctrinal lines are being erased to bring ‘everyone in’. OCCULTIC, in that the Logos, the written word of God is being eradicated in favor of a FALSE Rhema now in the Church. MILITANT in that the Church is turning against itself. The ‘old wineskins’ are thought of as the Enemy because they adhere to the written word of God ONLY for Truth, and they are ‘in the way’ of the coming Emerging (Fundamental) Global (Charismatic ) One World (Occultic) Church. Enter the “Davidic Wars” prophesied by mystic Jane Lead. The ’spirit people’ are the “Davids’ and will become more militant in their goal to eradicate the “Sauls”, the non spirit people. BIckle talks often of “Davidic Wars”! Also the militant Elijah List to fight ‘evil’ is also connected.
    2) Bickles unbiblical sensual “passion for Jesus”, paradigm shift, transition, synergy, prayer walking, and the Harp and Bowl are ALL connected to the occultic agenda to bring in the antichrist, called NEW BEGININNGS! Apostates like Rick Joyner dismiss the Rapture which puts the church on the same bandwagon as the occultics and the world in looking for “the King”. THE FALSE KING! Scripture tells us that Jesus comes as the bridegroom first to remove His church, (I Thessalonians 4:16, 17) then comes back as King at His second coming WITH His church. (I Thessalonians 3:13) Any other “King” coming before, is the Man of Sin masquerading as the Man of Peace the Bible warns about. Bickle also says the ‘no rapture’ means the “church’ will ‘execute judgment during the Tribulation” but it will be the HARLOT CHURCH, not the bride of Christ. (John 16:2) (Revelation 17:6) (Revelation 6:9,10) We are to put on the armor of God and STAND, not fight, but we will have been removed anyway, and will be at the Bema seat of CHrist recieving rewards at this time. (11 Corinthians 5:10) ( But Jesus fights for us, not the other way around! What BIckle does is take what applies to Israel and applies it to the church! The Church, permanently justified in Christ’s blood, I Corinthians 6:11, will not go through the judgment of the Tribulation. The Church is not a militant entity anyway as one of the symbols is the dove, for peace. The symbol now in churches is the eagle, a war bird !
3)Also if you investigate any occultic jargon, you will see that Bickles “New Gospel”, “New Jesus”, “New Grace”, “New Rain of the Spirit” “New Song”, “New Hallelujah”, “New Message”, “Fresh” Word of God, “New Manchild”, “New Purpose” all come straight the New Age Movement . Bickle’s “Birthing the global church” is the same as the occultic ‘birthing the One World Church.” Bickle’s Feast of Tabernacles is also the same as the occultic Planetary Pentecost! Bickle’s “Corporate Christ” is the same as the occultic “Cosmic Christ!” Bickles’ Contemplative Prayer” is the same altered state mindset as mystic praying!
Romans 16:17 tells us to contend for doctrine and avoid those who teach contrary to the doctrine we have learned,” but the TBN crowd says to avoid those who TEACH doctrine and now Bereans are called Heresy Hunters! Also Rick Joyner’s militant push for churches to join “the River” is the same ecumenical River pushed by occultics (Matthew Fox) to form their One World Church. “New Wave of the Spirit” is another New Age term to push for a (false) Rhema to come and inhabit the minds of men so they will follow the antichrist, yet that term is in churches today! But with all of the mantras in the church today replacing hymns, many unbelievers are being prepared for this ‘transformation’ by a false coming Rhema. (New Rain of the Spirit) Alice Bailey even predicted that ‘as more and more demons descend into the minds of men, the church will think its the Holy Spirit” !!! (“A Treatise on the Seven Rays”)
4)Also The Bible tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is self control (Galatians 5:22) but Bickle tells us its screaming, fainting, shaking, jerking and changes in skin color!? ! The Bible tells us to be sober (Titus 2) but Bickle promotes drunkeness from the “New Wine” that churches around the world are partaking of. This literally is the world consuming the “cup of abominations” (Revelation 17)…the One World Philosophy that Jesus warned would come. Satan is alive and well and is bringing in his kingdom through the Fundamental EmergingChurch and the Charismatic “Global” church. NOWHERE in Scripture does it say there will be a Global Harvest but rather, the world is getting worse and worse. II Timothy, 4:3 “For the
time will come that men will no longer endure SOUND DOCTRINE.” Instead of staying within the confines of God’s written word, Bickle uses dreams, visions, trances and anything supernatural for ‘truth’, yet Jesus always said, “It is WRITTEN”. He also said “MANY false prophets would arise, (Matthew 24) using signs and wonders to decieve the world.” Just as Bickle, Joyner and Rick Warren are doing. Its interesting to know that John Wimber said, “Unless a man sees signs and wonders he CANT believe.” (Power Evangelism) But JESUS said, “Unless a man sees signs and wonders, he WONT believe.” John 4:48 God help those who have fallen for these false prophets and doctrines of demons that Timothy and Paul warned us about! “Come out of her, my people…” Revelation 18:4

  2. Jan

Mike Bickle says that we must ‘experience manifestation of Jesus’ majesty”, yet Jesus says to look to His WRITTEN WORD, not ‘manifestations’. Jesus said, “SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES FOR THEY TESTIFY OF ME.” John 5:39 The occultic society, anxious to bring in the antichrist through their agenda “New Beginnings”, know that false teachers like Bickle are actually preparing the world to experience a ‘manifestation’, so they are actually preparing a false ‘return of “the Christ” through Satanic means and technology. Constance Cumby discovered this plot back in the 80’s and with the incredible deceptive ways that can be accomplished through multi-media displays 30 years later in 2010, even furthers the realistic scenario that is coming! Jesus said, “If anyone says, here is The Christ, believe him NOT.” Matthew 24:23, yet Bickles push for continued ‘experience’ to find ‘truth’ gives the earmarks of being a false prophet, and is preparing unbelievers to experience the coming deception by the antichrist and false prophet! (Revelation 13:13,14)
Barbara Aho writes, “New Agers have studied Bible prophecy carefully, especially Matthew 24, and have documented plans to technically stage a “Second Coming,” which would be acceptable to Christians, New Agers, et al. David Bay, Director of Old Paths Ministries, says that these plans have been published in a book entitled, The Armageddon Script, by New Age leader Peter LeMesurier. However, before that event, there will be another supernatural, psychic occurrence: ’…According to Vatican official, Malachi Martin, author of The Keys of This Blood, this event will be most powerfully psychic. The force accompanying this vision will be so powerful it will literally bring the normal activity of the world to a standstill. Men will be so moved that their ‘consciences will cry out with fear.’ This vision will produce an ‘engulfing chaos, along with misdirection, and disequilibruim in human affairs. In other words, the entire population of the world will experience a simultaneous changing of their minds…The vision will be preceded by either a loud sound, a bright light…”
Not content with the sufficiency of the Logos, Bickle uses odd terms disguised as a “word from the Lord”. “God affends the mind to test the heart”, is the kind of Bickle’s non Scriptural double talk confusing many under his spell. Even today in some charismatic churches, the phrase, “Believe what you see” is being flashed on multi media screens. Instead of Bickle promoting the constant supernatural you would think he would be warning the church today of the FALSE prophets who will, in these last days be decieving millions with signs and wonders and doctrines of demons. Instead of constantly demanding that God PROVE Himself each Sunday with the spectacular and healings, the church today has become a venue of occultic happenings. I wonder if these same people would continue to attend if the healings stopped. The church I attend has people healed simply because we PRAY for them. Kevin Reeves book, “The Other Side of the River” explains in detail how he began to compare Scripture against what was happening in his church, and his eyes were opened to the false teachings he had been under for so long. Bickles continued use of ‘gimmick phrases’ like “ONE can happen” is even MORE proof of suspicious jargon that is linked to the occultic agenda of the One World Church. ALso the phrase, “Speak to the” a charismatic evangelistic venture, lends itself to the very thing God abhors….’talking to the dead’, yet this occultic term plays games with the vunerable Christian lacking discernment. Instead of a term used such as ‘reaching the lost for Christ”, ‘speak to the dead’ advertises a Satanic excercise. The world is becoming comfortable with sorcery as it is no longer just in the movie theater. Its in the CHURCH. I pray that anyone that reads this will avoid false teachers such as Bickle, Joyner, and Jones who give homage to the supernatural instead of the LOGOS ALONE for Truth and are EXACTLY the type of men the Bible warns us about! “…and some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.” I Timothy 4

    • Jeff Fenske

This is sad what you are doing to Mike Bickle on this site and at least one other. This is so wrong. Don’t you fear God? Don’t you realize we will be judged for what we say about others? Why aren’t you more careful? You are taking the most extreme examples and trying to get people to throw out the baby with the bathwater. And you don’t even see the baby, oh critical one.
You give this very serious charge, attributing what the Holy Spirit is saying to Mike as being coming from a demon, instead. This could be flat out blasphemy:

“Mike Bickle is a false prophet deceiving millions of unsuspecting people. He, along with Rick Joyner and Bob Jones are channeling dreams and visions from demonic forces.”

I don’t know what is going on with Bob Jones, these days. And I haven’t been keeping track anymore what is going on with Rick Joyner either; though, I did for many years, hoping I could learn something, because I really liked his book, The Final Quest.
I haven’t brought this up before on my site, that I’m aware of, but I suppose now is a good time.
One of the deceptions in these last days is the total disregard by some about what Paul said about women preaching and teaching in 1 Timothy 2:

9 In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety; not just with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing; 10 but (which becomes women professing godliness) with good works. 11 Let a woman learn in quietness with all subjection. 12 But I don’t permit a woman to teach, nor to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 Adam wasn’t deceived, but the woman, being deceived, has fallen into disobedience; 15 but she will be saved through her childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and sanctification with sobriety.

Mike Bickle has pretty much totally ignored this clear teaching. And Rick Joyner has too much also; though, as I said, I haven’t followed his ministry lately. And perhaps you have too, unless you aren’t a woman like your name would indicate, for you are certainly exercising authority over men, here, big time!
I don’t have any trouble receiving spiritual advice from a women, but you are way over the top, woman. And what you are pushing here is mostly deception.
God made men and women significantly different. Both are perfectly and wonderfully made. Both are geniuses in their own right. Men are designed to be able to do certain things much more successfully than women, AND women are designed by God to be able to do certain things much more successfully than men.
And Paul gives two specific reasons why women aren’t supposed to teach spiritual things or exercise authority over a man.
Adam was formed first. He was given certain attributes and characteristics from which to oversee the Garden. Eve was then formed as a helpmate for Adam, with complementary characteristics that wouldn’t compete with her mate. She was to help him from a different set of strengths and abilities — and weaknesses.
Men are also weak in areas women are strong and wiser in — but this isn’t in spiritual leadership — though women can have significant spiritual incite. Women are awesome! Men are awesome! We’re to appreciate each other, not replace each other.
Men can focus analytically more so than women. Some women are more analytical than some men, but those men are probably not called to church leadership. Only some are; though many jump in — many, controlled by their wives or other women — and then we have this mess — an upside down church.
Unforgiving, angry, unable-to-rest-in-God women are pushing for power, praying against (James-3 cursing) even their own husbands, in many cases, unless they tow the line — their line.
We have upside down families and upside down churches. And the men are in many cases so weak from willfully lusting that they’re just abdicating. They’re not seeking God. Most aren’t qualified to lead. And then the demonic floodgates come pouring in. There is no balance. Women aren’t designed to lead. They’re out of their calling and outside of their covering. Instead of helping the men who are called by God to lead, they will only do so with serious strings. Those who are in leadership today have usually succumbed to female power over them, someway, somehow.
We’ll never have unity this way, which you would probably call New Age (you criticize the name of my website), but it’s Jesus’ heart that we all would be ONE (John 17). “Then the world will know.”
I’m being biblical. You’re off the charts, criticizing so harshly those who would dare question the pre-trib rapture, which you can’t prove from the Bible.
Paul said women are more easily deceived, like Eve was deceived by Satan, himself, while he said Adam wasn’t deceived. There is so much hate, and you seem to be full of it. How do you think you would be raptured even if there is one? The only thing I know absolutely for sure about the rapture is that only those who are on their way to heaven could possibly go if there is one. Perhaps you should read my Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way article, if you have ears to hear what the Bible really says.
And you talk about “LOGOS ALONE,” “not to be content with the sufficiency of the Logos….” My article is purely scriptural based, but I learned much of what I know by the Holy Spirit. Logos alone, sola scriptura is not a New Testament concept. In fact, it’s the opposite of what the Bible teaches, a doctrine of demons. It’s the opposite of what Jesus, Himself taught. You know the scriptures that teach this, right? There are many.
And you’re so down on people actually exhibiting outward expressions when they claim to be touched by God. Perhaps this is because you’ve never been touched by God in this way. How would you expect people to react when the joy of the Lord and or the power of the Lord fills them?
“Don’t be drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Oh, but that can’t be an actual feeling. Come on! Look at what happened at Pentecost. People thought they were drunk with wine but they were filled with the Holy Spirit.
You have the right to be as non-filled with the Holy Spirit as you’d personally like to be, but going around to other sites and harshly criticizing those who think and have experienced otherwise is just clearly unbiblical and not of the Spirit.
And you talk about the old wineskins as being the ‘enemy.’ I have never heard them called “the enemy;” though, old wineskins cannot hold the new wine without bursting. And it sounds like you don’t even want the wine, Himself, to fill and lead you. What is up? Why are you so angry, so vindictive?
There is one thing you said that I’m totally unfamiliar with. You say that Mike says the church will “execute judgment during the Tribulation.” I really have never heard of this during my 35 years as a Christian. But being that just about everything you accuse Mike of here is an exaggeration, I wonder what he really teaches regarding this.
And as for citing “Father” Malachi Martin as a spiritual authority, you may want to read this: Bursting the Malachi Martin Bubble and read my “The Catholic Deception” posts.
Having said all of this, I would like to say that I really appreciate and like Mike Bickle as a brother and leader in the body of Christ. I always have. He’s a spearhead, pioneer, sometimes-going-to-far kind of a guy. I have a much different personality. I too often don’t go far enough.
Their ministry, right now, has mixture, and I’ve pointed out some of the bathwater, while I really appreciate the baby, and will in no way throw it out.
I believe that was is happening right now at IHOP is very valuable in order for God to finally be Lord of our lives, so we can be the body of Christ the way they were in the book of Acts, the way we are supposed to be — instead of lone rangers like you.
I have and will again point out problems at IHOP that I really believe are hindering the work of Christ. Allen Hood’s once-saved-always-saved doctrine is the biggest problem that I see, and it’s probably not just held by Allen; though, most of the ‘church’ in America teaches the same or similar.
I really don’t like the telling God what to do during prayer and during ‘worship’ thing, either. And so often ‘worship’ isn’t really worship. The “bless me, Lord” songs mainly started in the Vineyard movement and continue today.
I’ve written about these thing on my site, and I’ve encouraged those who get it right, like Jaye, Ryan and Laura; though the pressure seems so strong to keep straight on worship from happening often. I think this is largely because of sin in the camp. Willful sinners don’t feel comfortable in truly worshiping God directly. In fact, this is one of the reasons why I think there are those like yourself who prefer hymns, which usually don’t worship God directly like we are to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength — the greatest commandment.
Anyone can sings songs about God, but to directly worship God: “You are awesome; You are holy; You are mighty; You are perfect in beauty and wisdom and majesty” — only is the desire of those who are serious about doing the greatest two commandments, which includes loving Mike Bickle as much as we love ourselves, Jan.
What’s up? Why are you so mean spirited? Where is the love? Yuck. 1 Cor. 13:1 comes to mind. Yikes! Perhaps you should find your true calling. This isn’t it. You just slandered a really good guy who is trying to do the right thing, and is succeeding more a lot more than most.
Where is the love, Jan? Christians will be known for their love.
I should also say, before closing, that I really like Wes Hall at IHOP also. He is leading a call to purity that is so rare in this day. There is a reason why the move of God (demons in your estimation) happened in his class. He’s a good guy.
Jan, “why don’t you leave us alone,” I think I’m supposed to say. Deal with your issues; forgive those who hurt you; learn how to walk in love. And then, someday, please come back and say you’re sorry. You really should. This was not of God, and you made some very serious accusations here that even border on blasphemy, in my opinion. Perhaps you should find a different calling. Your own salvation may depend on it.
I love IHOP and Mike Bickle and Wes Hall and the real worshipers, and maybe someday you will too.

Hi Jeff, Thanks for writing… I never said Mike Bickel was a “demon’. What i said was that he is teaching doctrines of demons. As far as ‘women preaching’, I’m not claiming to be a preacher. I am informing the public as to how so many are blinded to Mike Bickles teachings. I have done extensive research on Latter Rain and Mike’s dialouge is IDENTICAL to the occultic agenda “New Beginnings.’ Somehow you missed all of what i said. The occultics say a “One World Church’ is coming. Mike says (scripture please?) that a “global church is coming”. The occultics and spirit churches both say we are to be as ‘Davids” and fight the “Sauls” THOSE WHO GO BY THE WRITTEN WORD OF GOD ALONE FOR TRUTH. Mike says that those that go against the ‘spirit’ are “Sauls”. (Scripture please?) Davidic wars are the same ‘wars’ that Jane Lead, occultic medium would come in the church. Rick Joyner says to JOIN THE RIVER, the ‘same’ River promoted by the occultics. (Scripture please?)So you are blinded to what is going on. I didnt attack anyone. I simply told the truth that Mike Bickle is a Latter Rainist, and his teachings come straight from Alice Baily the New Age occultc medium. Many have had their eyes opened to this and yet youare still blinded. Mike does love the Lord but his refusal to look to the written Word ONLY for truth has him deluged in occultism. Bob Jones is so far into the occult that OCCULTICS follow him! If you would like, here is a list of what occultics say and what Bickle is saying about the current “AWAKENING” Once again, Mike is on the same page with unbelievers..(see below) thank you Jeff

    • Jeff Fenske

The word ‘being’ was a typo on my part. It didn’t make sense anyway, considering what I was saying. I corrected it with a strike through.
But it’s interesting how you now changed what you accused him of. You said earlier: “He, along with Rick Joyner and Bob Jones are channeling dreams and visions from demonic forces.” And that’s clearly what I was commenting on, using a colon to reference your quote. You twist things, like now saying: “I didnt attack anyone.” Yeah, sure.
And you capitalize these words, above, but don’t put them in quotes: “THOSE WHO GO BY THE WRITTEN WORD OF GOD ALONE FOR TRUTH.” I wonder what Mike really said, based upon how you twist things to support your attack. But even if he said this statement word for word, that is not against the Bible at all. Sola Scriptura is not a biblical concept. The Holy Spirit is supposed to lead us into all truth, which Jesus and the apostles wrote in many ways and places.
It would be error if he would say that if another source disagrees with the Bible we can go by that instead of what the Bible says. I doubt that he has ever said that.
And I am fully aware of what the New Age teaches. The Devil counterfeits the real thing. True unity is what Jesus talked about in John 17 (“…then the world will know”), and what Paul talked about in Ephesians 4:11-16. My goals are biblical goals. God clearly calls us to unity, being ONE in Christ. And “in Christ” means those “who do not walk according to the flesh but are led by the Spirit” (Romans 8:1b, which is not in the NIV, etc.).
I stand by all that I said, above. You are deceived, and you are deceiving others to be against Mike Bickle and to throw out the baby out with the bathwater. But you, apparently, don’t even recognize the baby because you don’t understand basic new covenant principles about what Christianity really is.

    • Jeff Fenske

      I should add:
Francis Frangipane is a good guy too. His heart is really in the right place, wanting unity to happen among true believers.
The problem, the way I see it and have for a long time, is that there is serious sin in the camp among most leaders. And unity can’t happen outside of holiness happening. And I don’t see serious holiness happening as long as every born-again believer is going to heaven no matter what (or “it’s very difficult to lose one’s salvation). Almost every evangelical pastor in America teaches this.
And this is the exact opposite of what the Bible teaches, which I point out in Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way, which no one can refute.
I believe the main problem in the church in America is false doctrine, doctrines of demons that are taught and practiced which have now all but destroyed America, itself.
Once-saved-always-saved and “it’s hard to lose one’s salvation” is bad enough by itself. But there are many more co-conspirator doctrines that keeps real Christianity from happening.
When real Christianity happens, then unity would happen. When Christians are right with each other and Him, there will be true unity.
But most ‘Christian’ leaders insist that people follow their false doctrines that lead to death. These leaders are the gatekeepers that even pray against (James-3 curse) those who point out that some of their key doctrines are in error. These very leaders are in great danger of losing their salvation. Most, I think, have crossed the line already, but could come back once they see the real thing. And this is problem something you don’t even believe in at all, but it happened in the book of Acts and at various times since.
IHOP is calling for a Third Great Awakening, yet their salvation doctrine, in particular, can’t hold water, especially the way that Allen Hood teaches it. Others sometimes talk about the fear of the Lord, including Mike.
Mike is expecting a move of God that when God shows up (as in Acts and these other times) there will be judgment of those who are living in willful sin, like Ananias and Saphira. There is a message on this site in which he talks about this.
I think Mike is a much better guy than you let on. I think I just heard “he’s a champion.” He really is a man after God’s own heart. He’s amazing; though, I think the revival he’s looking for will start elsewhere mainly because of their mostly unbiblical salvation doctrine which keeps purity from happening to a sufficient enough degree.

For Jeff and anyone else who is interested here, too, is a list of dialouges re: “The River.” Its origin is occultic yet you can see by the following statements, church leaders are going the same way.
“THE RIVER” A “New Way” to Unity
    “The Maitreya” (The False Christ)
“Maitreya Messages” (Messages channeled by occultic mediums re: the coming “Christ”)

“The River is changing course…and if we do not flow with The River, we will be left stranded
on dry ground. The renewed Apostolic Age will change all this.”
    Rick Joyner, Charismatic “Prophet”
    The Harvest, 1989
“A severe judgment is coming upon all who separate instead of joining…This includes the different streams flowing within the church….Ultimately all the streams will flow together into One River. At this time,The River will swell to become an irresistible force which no other religion,
    philosophy, or doctrine can stand.”

One more for the crowd: Here is a list of quotes by church leaders and occultics re: ‘SYNERGY” Thanks!

God bless “Ariel” (Gospel Masquerade) and “Mishel Montague” (Deception Bytes) for their ministries for those still in the occultic IHOP. They have set many people free from false teachings. Thanks for your time

    • Jeff Fenske

“You’re from another kingdom,” Jan, calling IHOP “occultic,” etc., not understanding the things of the Spirit. There is mixture at IHOP, like I said, but you are way off base, attacking Mike and calling that which is of the Spirit, of the Devil, which is blasphemy.
The Holy Spirit is here to bring life, to empower God’s people to be able to overcome no matter what. We need His love, the Comforter, literally, He Who will lead His people into all truth (John 14-16, etc.).
May you have eyes to see what’s true and what’s really false, submitting to authority in your heart. You’re in big trouble in the meantime.

To mirror what you wrote, sanctified:
God bless the goal setters, the pioneers, the examples to us all, the worshipers at IHOP — helping us to be ready for what’s coming. Only those who are in Him will be saved, Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way. We need to get ready.
To list a few of the precious ones at IHOP:
Mike Bickle, Wes Hall, Cory Asbury, Jaye Thomas, Matt Gilman, Laura Hackett, Seth Yates, Ryan Kondo and Luke Wood.

      Thank God for the renegades,
      and the lives they lead
      Far ahead of their time

      Without the renegades,
      Lord knows where we’d be
      When it comes to heroes,
      Renegades are mine

Steve Vaus: “Renegades” — FREEeeeeeeeeee——-DOM Version!!!

  8. Jan

“I’m in big trouble in the meantime” ? Well if by declaring that someone is teaching doctrines of demons to warn others is ‘in trouble’, then that reveals how Christians will be persecuted for promoting the written Word of God (NOT spirit realm ‘revelations”) as the only Truth. It also shows shows how correct Scripture is. “And in the last days, men shall no longer endure sound doctrine.” I will pray for you Jeff. Thanks for your time.

    • Jeff Fenske

I believe that I heard these words on Sunday while thinking about what you wrote here:

“This is at the heart of what is right”
      – what Mike and Wes are trying to bring in.

It seems that you don’t understand because you aren’t of the Holy Spirit. You’re not resting in God. You don’t even believe in being led by the Holy Spirit, apparently. You don’t seem at all interested in what Jesus and the New Testament writers said about what the role of the Holy Spirit now is.
Paul said: “those who are led by the Spirit are the children of God.” So where do you stand with God? How can you call yourself a ‘Christian,’ according to this verse. And according to what Jesus said in John 13:

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

And where do you fit within Paul’s Galatians-5 who-goes-to-heaven lists, which I explain in Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way, which apparently you’re not interested in reading.

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

There is condemnation for those who don’t walk according to the Spirit. And you blaspheme the Holy Spirit, saying that the things He is doing is of the Devil.
And you think you’ll be lifted out in the rapture, acting like this, lording it over Mike Bickle, when you can’t even biblically prove there will even be a pre-trib rapture.
You throw out the baby with the bathwater, calling them occultic.
How could you not be in trouble, according to what the Bible really says? What matters isn’t what ‘Christian’ leaders say the Bible teaches. What matters is what the Bible really does say.
“The deception in the last days will be great.”
And “the love of most will grow cold.”
“You’re fighting against the Spirit,” I just now heard. This is serious.

  9. Jan

One thing….It would be helpful, Jeff, if you would answer the points i made regarding Mike’s dialouge being the same as the occultics. His CORPORATE CHRIST is the same as the occultic COSMIC CHRIST. His “New Wine” is the same as the occultic NEW WINE”. His “Feast of Tabernacles” where the whole world gets inhabited by a global ‘spirit’ is the same as the occultic PLANETARY PENTECOST. His “Rain of the SPirit” is the same as the “SHOWERS OF THE SPIRIT” predicted by mystic Jane Lead in the 16th century. His “NEW THING THAT IS EMERGING” is the same as the occultic “NEW THING THAT IS EMERGING.” His ‘GLOBAL CHURCH” is the same as the occultic ONE WORLD CHURCH. I’d be interested in your thoughts on how his agenda is the same as the occultics. Thanks Jeff Have a great day!

  10. Jan

No, Jeff I’m just warning people regarding Mike Bickle’s occultic dreams and visions. I am considered a “Saul” because i go only to the written Word for TRUTH. The ‘Davids” according to Bickle are the ‘spirit people’ who look to the spirit realm for ‘truth’. This is exactly what the occultics do. Jane Lead, 16th centry mystic, PREDICTED that in the last days the “Davidic Warfare’ would eradicate the “Sauls” to bring in the kingdom of the antichrist.Anyway thanks for writing back. Jan

    • Jeff Fenske

You didn’t just call Mike’s dreams occultic, which is bad enough, blasphemous enough, but you said: “those still in the occultic IHOP.” You called IHOP occultic.
As to you being called a Saul. I wouldn’t do that. I don’t call people names. But you are still living in the old covenant, and calling people occultic who live in the new.
And I don’t think “the Sauls” will ever be eradicated from the earth. When ‘ONE’ happens (John 17, Eph. 4, Acts), the outspokenly anti-Holy-Spirit “Sauls” will probably not even dare to enter such a group because of what Mike says in this vision.
And by the way, you still are just totally ignoring the scriptures I cite, as if they don’t exist. You have a canon within the Canon. And you have that right, but then you push your views on others, claiming that you’re biblical.

  11. Jan

You might be interested in this quote by Wes Campbell. It shows the militant attitude toward those who dont go by spirit realm “revelations”.
Wes Campbell, Charismatic Preacher Airport Vineyard 1994
“There will be a Civil War in the Church. The Blues versus the Greys. The Blues will be the
“Revelation people” where the Greys will be the ones bound in their minds.”
“Bound in their minds?” When did Jesus ever rebuke those who go by His written Word for Truth?
    Thanks Jeff Jan

    • Jeff Fenske

That’s easy. The Holy Spirit wasn’t yet given. Only Jesus was being led by the Spirit at that point, leading by example, that we should walk in His steps.
See: A Call to Intimacy: The Holy Spirit in John’s Gospel & Epistles
And you just changed your original statement. You were saying, basically: “who only go by the written word.” That was your statement.
None of us are saying (including Mike, as far as I’ve seen) that we don’t have to absolutely go by the written word. We absolutely do, but the written word won’t lead us into ALL truth. Jesus said the Holy Spirit will do that. The Bible is all true, but not all truth is in the Bible.

  12. Jan

Hi Jeff Please when you have time, research some websites by those who once were under Mike’s teachings. Also some sites by those who were once under Rick Joyner. Ariel at and Mishel at “Deception Bytes.” Thanks for writing me back! Jan

  13. Jan

Wow lots of hostility here when someone is just giving their opinion. God bless you Jeff

  14. Jan

If someone approached me and said, “Jan someone is teaching occultic New Age doctrine in your church, I would do like the Bereans did in Pauls day and check it out.” I would be glad that someone came to me. But you dont seem to want to investigate the occultic agenda “NEW BEGINNINGS” that Mike BIckle is promoting without even knowing it. I also gave you websites to check out by great people who have seen the same thing that Im trying to warn you about in IHOP. So if you dont want to do so, then all i can do is pray for you. A great book is by Kevin Reeves, called “The Other Side of the River.” He started comparing the written Word of God against what was going on in his “spirit’ church and he saw that it was not Biblical, and left. So good luck Jeff and again, God bless.

    • Jeff Fenske

First, IHOP isn’t my church; though, I agree with much of what they do. I live in Alaska. I’m mainly interested in the good they are doing. And I like to watch in order to see what can be done, so that I can more fully understand how what God wants to fully do can happen.
As to Kevin Reeves’ book, he is just doing what so many have, throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I’m not interested. I’ve been following this overall movement for decades. I know what’s going on. I have the discernment of spirits. I can sort through the mixture. I’ve seen it all before. And at IHOP, most of it is good. They’ve learned a lot from the mistakes of those in the past, but I still get disappointed when I see things they’re doing that is keeping the move from being great.
The main problem isn’t what you say. The number one problem in the ‘church,’ charismatic and not, is the salvation doctrine. That’s where the weirdness comes in, and that’s why the Third Great Awakening hasn’t happened yet.
I’m looking at the big picture, not the small problems that are exaggerated by those who don’t really understand what is going on, making a mountain out of a molehill.
We can’t have unity without holiness, and it’s likely that we’re not going to have sufficient holiness until we get our salvation doctrine figured out. It’s too easy to sin these days, sexually, etc., and if people think they can do these things and still go to heaven most will just keep doing them.
That’s what they’re finding at IHOP. The pull of the world is just too strong.
But there is one other way that full revival will come, and that’s if we’re brought to our knees by the disasters that are now facing us, because the church hasn’t been salt and light: The Red Gate Prophecy — What If I Open It Just a Little Bit? Most evangelicals even support the reverse-Christian wars. I haven’t heard one peep in the IHOP prayer room for repentance over supporting these immoral wars — all of the people who didn’t do anything to us who we slaughtered. And most evangelicals refuse to look into what really happened on 9/11. Most are not really truth seekers, so the republicans use them.
There is one other key thing that is curiously missing from the IHOP revival: a call for people to get right with those they’ve hurt, so they can be clean. This was the main theme of the Asbury revival: Asbury Revival, 1970: “Dr. Kinlaw, I am a liar. Now what do I do?”
IHOP expects revival without brother to brother repentance, getting right with those they’ve hurt. I don’t see how IHOP can miss this unless a key person there hasn’t done this, and I don’t think it’s Mike or Wes.
But this isn’t just an IHOP problem, it’s probably true of every church in America, charismatic or not.
And Francis Frangipane has meant well, trying to get church leaders in towns to meet together and get along. But most of these church leaders are the main problem in the church. They keep the old false doctrines alive that keep the revival from happening. And many of these church leaders pray against (James-3 curse) those who are supposed to be leading.
And then there are the women who run many of them, largely through James-3 cursing ‘prayers’ and conditional love. None of these people who curse people can go to heaven, biblically. These key problems simply aren’t being addressed in ‘churches.’ And many even still teach old covenant tithing.
As for Mike’s terminology that you say is similar to new age terminology, it could be the other way around. Maybe the Devil is copying and twisting what Christians are called to do, making good terms sound bad. Like now, we even have to be careful how we use the word ‘gay,’ which is a good word.
The main thing is to find out what we’re called to do, biblically, as well as what the Holy Spirit is calling us to do (which will never contradict the written Word of God).
The goal is to line up with the Bible and the Holy Spirit, and if some of what we do is similar to what some new age people are doing then maybe some of the new age people are on to something right too.
I actually find a lot more love coming from many of the new agers than from many of the ‘Christians.’ And many of them see the lack of love in the ‘church,’ especially when it comes to supporting the new world order’s wars, which the ‘church’ is even sometimes driving.
Who would Jesus bomb – eh?
And many homosexuals are actually closer to the kingdom than many Christians: The Homosexuals Will Arise. So many ‘Christians’ point the finger at the homosexuals when the ‘Christians’ are the main cause for the fall of America. The “Christians'” sin is a stench to God: the hate, lust, pride, lying, lack of submission to God while pointing the finger at those who have more love than they do.
The ‘church’ is disgusting! And all these people who criticize moves of the Holy Spirit where people are getting right with God are so off base, having these big planks in their eyes, which disqualifies them from being able to see clearly to take the specks out of their neighbors’ eyes.
America is going down. And the lack of holiness and rightness with God and their neighbors is the main reason. And I believe the number one reason for the fall of the church is unbiblical doctrine that is pushed across this nation, from the pulpits, on the radio and on TV. These leaders are in big trouble with God.
I’m offering $1,500 to anyone who can refute my Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way post. No one can, while what is taught across America has been refuted by many — the doctrine of demons that has put the ‘church’ to sleep — “positive, encouraging K-LOVE!”
Until we’re willing to look at what the Bible really says and listen to what the Holy Spirit is really saying, I don’t think we’re going to have full revival unless we lose our freedom and our lifestyles in this country, which is probably right around the corner. When people lose their computers and TVs and food and jobs, I think then people will probably really seek God too. But we shouldn’t have to lose everything in order for real Christianity to happen.
Real Christianity is doing the greatest two commandments, literally. Being born-again is just the start. Jesus said:

John 15:4 Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. 5 I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

That’s where most of the ‘church’ will end up unless we get serious about the numerous warning passages in the New Testament which preachers are totally ignoring, including those at IHOP.
This is serious. Everything else pales in comparison. You’re just beating a dead horse. This has all been debated years ago.
I’m actually excited that Mike, Wes, and the many great people at IHOP are people of integrity that are finally putting the anti-charismatics to shame – those who resist the Spirit. The scoffers never did have biblical grounds, and now they can’t character assassinate either. Mike and Wes are just too clean, as far as I can tell. Though there may be others who aren’t. And they may actually be those holding back the move, holding back real worship and real repentance. Though if they had biblical salvation doctrine, the move probably would have already fully happened.
The Devil hates when people learn the truth. He works hard to make sure that people oppose what is true and those who teach truth. I have hardly anyone helping me; though, I believe the truth on this site is a gold mine. Whoever runs with it will have real revival.
I think that IHOP + the truth that is on this site = real, full revival.
What are we waiting for, ‘church?’ Let’s be the church — where God dwells without measure — not having to hold back, stay away because of willful sins!
      Let Us Be ONE!
To God, be the glory! May we abide in Him, literally. “Then the world will know.”

Some of you may be interested in these transcripts that I made, hoping to help people understand why people really do ‘funny things’ (Wes’ words) when the power of God hits them:

Wes Hall: IHOPU Awakening Testimony — “I was leading that first class … We had some SKEPTICS who came in … I WAS ONE of them” — “THAT RIVER that flows from the throne”

Wes Hall: Why do people laugh and shake under the power of God? | “The Lord has released a revelation of the Father’s love I’ll never forget”

And here is my brief testimony about my own many experiences. “The more I forgave, the more I shook and laughed,” even:

    What is Real Revival?

    And consider these:

Wes Hall [IHOP] on William Seymour’s 1909 prophecy of the shekinah glory returning to the church in 100 years: “Let me tell you about the church in the book of Acts. …the fear of God was on the community, and no one dared join them. But they were highly esteemed. Why did no one dare join them?” | My theory

Rachael’s Testimony: “I didn’t know it was depression. I tried to always put on this happy face, try to make everyone happy. I was very good at wearing masks. I was very good at being a chameleon. … When that spirit left, I didn’t even know that it was there. … I feel so bright, and I feel like clean before the Lord. I feel like I can love others so purely…”

IHOP revival leader on God’s provision during martyrdom: “When we’re in the presence of the Lord, martyrdom doesn’t seem like such a bad deal”

Hi Jeff what Scripture do you use to validate ‘laughing’ as proof of the Lords’ presence? (Wes Hall: Why do people laugh and shake under the power of God? | “The Lord has released a revelation of the Father’s love I’ll never forget”) The Bible says that God reveals HImself to us through nature, (Romans 1:20) His Son (John 8:58) and the Word. (John 1:1) So what Scripture verse do you use to back this up? Laughing is not wrong but it doesn’t ‘prove’ the Lord’s presence.
Carol Christ, a Wiccan (Witch) said in “The Laughter of Aphrodite -Journey to the Goddess” “I laughed for hours and hours. Laughter can be…a spiritual experience…a mediator of transformation.” So this witch is ‘laughing’ and feeling ‘happy’ afterwards too, but her occultic experience and altered state of consciousness doesn’t mean she “experienced” the Lord’s presence.

I almost responded right away to your comment, but the way you have been phrasing your statements cause me to hesitate. And you still don’t seem to understand what the Bible says about the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It’s as if you’ve studied the New Age religion more than you’ve studied what the Bible says the role of the Holy Spirit is to be in our lives. I don’t understand why a Christian would not study what the Bible says, first, and then study the dark side, knowing what the bright side is.
I almost did a 3-part answer, covering this subject from the Bible, history, and then my own personal experience. I’ve decided to start with this true story, and then see where it goes from here.
Rodney Howard-Browne held 36 meetings here in Anchorage, Alaska a number of years ago. I attended all but three. I experienced many things during those meetings, and I know for sure that what I experienced was from the Holy Spirit. For example, the more I forgave, the more God filled me with His power and His joy. I understood how God really is my friend, and that when the sufferings of Christ flow into our lives His comfort really does flow (2 Cor. 1).
This is just one of many scriptures that explain what happens. It’s also interesting to see who doesn’t get filled — such as the old guard — the church leaders who have refused to get right with those they’ve hurt, and/or refuse to forgive. “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4).
There was a leader from our church (not the head pastor) who also attended some of the meetings. He sat in the back; would never even look at me when our paths did cross; and he did his one-sided investigation from which he would make a report (via cassette tape to the elders), not just to our church, but to its outreach churches as well. He poisoned many people against what the Holy Spirit was mostly doing in these meetings — things similar to what is happening at IHOP, today.
Many people have missed out on being filled with the Spirit [“Don’t be drunk with wine, but be filled with the Spirit.”] because of biased investigators who don’t know the Holy Spirit well enough themselves, and who don’t do an unbiased investigation. Many of these critics also do not have the gift of discernment of spirits very strongly, and would do much better if they discussed these issues with those who are so gifted.
This man seemed to only see the bathwater, which mainly revolved how Rodney had handled the money side of things, which was suspect, but then this man kept thousands of people from discovering for themselves what the Holy Spirit was actually doing.
My life was partly transformed by these meetings, and this kind of thing still happens to me, especially when I’m praying for something that is very near to God’s heart. God shares His enthusiasm with me, encouraging me, tangibly.
On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit filled the disciples, the people thought they were drunk. That is what Wes is saying: our bodies do strange things when we’re hit with so much love and power.
There is definite Biblical precedent for tangible infillings. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, Jesus said. And He can comfort His people in however He sees fit to. But He’ll resist the proud and only give grace to the humble. (James 4).
Just think what could have happened if this particularly influential church leader hadn’t been so hyper-critical of what was happening at the Howard-Browne meetings.
Maybe we would have had real revival already. Maybe we could have averted the fall of America which is right around the corner, seemingly.
This man grieved the Holy Spirit big-time. He comes across like he’s really smart, so scholarly, but he really did poison people away from experiencing what could have transformed our state — and then the world. For this is what many here needed to get freed up from demons and religious spirits that kept them from admitting they were wrong and getting right with each other.
We could have had a healing take place, but instead we’ve had a dungeon. Infighting — “Christians” cursing people to not accept the move of God in their lives — and making fun of those who have.
If I was this leader, I would get on the phone and/or visit everyone I could think of who I hurt. This man is in serious trouble before God. He and others kept the move of God from happening. He grieved the Holy Spirit, which so saddens God’s heart.
God wants to fill us, empower us, and equip us. And then there are guys like this one who stopped the whole thing.
Jan, I don’t know why you seem to want to avoid this fact, but I’ll say it again. Romans 1 says:

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.

A Ph.D. can be a good thing, and it can be a bad thing. “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.” And most seminaries and Bible schools are mind-control institutions which reward students only when they follow the company line, the established doctrines that have almost nothing to do with knowing God, the Holy Spirit, Himself.
Why does the Bible emphasize so much the gifts of the Holy Spirit. And why do seminaries almost totally ignore them, often even fighting people away from them?
Christianity is meant to be a relationship in which we actually are led by and even filled by God, Himself.
And when the true sufferings of Christ come into our lives we can know for sure that His comfort will also come. And it probably won’t be just some mental knowing. His comfort will be tangible, something we can feel.
“Don’t be drunk with wine, but be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
It’s not a sin to want to be filled, emotionally. But it is a sin when we would look to substances to fill us instead of the Holy Spirit, Himself.
I should also mention that there are other ways to know for sure when it’s God and when it’s demonic. One very easy one is praying in tongues at the spirit/Spirit responsible. If one gets tongues, then we’re dealing with a demon. I’ve finally shared much of what I know about and what can be done through the TREMENDOUS and mostly misunderstood and underused gift of tongues. A reader thankfully put me over the edge : )
It’s pretty simple, but one has to be willing to pray in tongues to do this, which is one of the basic and I think essential spiritual gifts for everyone (which shouldn’t be confused with the gift of tongues and interpretation, which is to be used in front of others).
And by their fruits you will know them. What is the fruit? I know what it is for me. I know what it is for Wes Hall. I know that we’ll need this when we face persecution: Corrie Ten Boom: Prepared for the Coming Tribulation.
This is another reason why your pre-trib rapture doctrine is so diabolical when combined with once-saved-always-saved. It’s the perfect demonic deception to keep people from doing whatever it takes to get to know the Holy Spirit now.
Now is the time to get ready, to know Him so that we’ll be able to overcome no matter what.
We have been so spoiled in this country. We don’t know what persecution and poverty is.
Now is the time to get ready. And that’s what IHOP is doing.
      Jeff Fenske
