Matthew 13
Jesus Teaches in Parables
1That day Jesus went out of (A)the house and was sitting (B)by the sea.
2And large crowds gathered to Him, so (C)He got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd was standing on the beach.
3And He spoke many things to them in (D)parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow;
4and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up.
5″Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil.
6″But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7″Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out.
8″And others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop, some a (E)hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.
9″(F)He who has ears, let him hear.”
An Explanation
The Sower Explained
18″(N)Hear then the parable of the sower.
19″When anyone hears (O)the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, (P)the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.
20″The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;
21yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he (Q)falls away.
22″And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of (R)the world and the (S)deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
23″And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some (T)a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”
This parable is so simple yet guides us completely into the mind of Jesus and the Father Lets examine the explanation closely seeing into which group of person we fall !
v 19 – the word IS sown in the persons heart be he allows the devil to snatch it away and will not believe, How does he stand before GOD? Guilty for he received yet refused to believe – This one is already judged for he will not believe in the name of the Son of GOD.
v20 – 21 , This man received ( accepted ) the word with joy and CLEARLY was following the LORD GOD, We MUST reason this as he “fell away” on account of affliction and persecution, A person cannot fall away from something they never had!. How does this person stand ? Guilty, because he feared men rather than GOD and has left his first love. Indeed he was following the Lord but did not strengthen himself in the Lord.
V 22 – This man must also have taken the word into his heart, It must be reasoned that if he didnt have the wor din his heart at some time then it could not have been choked out he also stands guilty before GOD. Money has become his god, It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven – Jesus didint speak these words for no reason!
Examine verse 23 very carefully as the true believer encompasses all by which the others failed. Firstly he receives the word and believes ( the evil one did not steal the word from his heart ) He also understands the word which leads to produce of Godly fruits
V23 is the harvest of God
1) Hear and believe – faith
2) understand / learn – become like a child
3) Produce fruit accordingly – your works shall show your faith – see james
I have more to write here but am on a tight schedule today.
May God bless you – obedience is greater than all burnt offerings !

Interestingly enough we have further confirmation of this parable from our Lord Jesus immeadiatley in the following parable.
Tares among Wheat
24Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.
25″But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away.
26″But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also.
27″The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’
28″And he said to them, ‘An enemy has done this!’ The slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’
29″But he said, ‘No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them.
30’Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.
V24 shows we are IN the kingdom of heaven and waiting for the Lords return to His Kingdom ( For ALL things are under His authority ) for the complete consummation of all things. We know this by studying the rest of the parable as there are good and evil people mentioned, Now we know that when all is fulfilled there will be no wickedness.
v25 Evil was sown into the world along with the goodness of Gods creation/people by the enemy ( satan ). The Sower of Goodness / the kingdom is the Son of Man
v26 Now when the wheat sprouted and bore grain ( spiritual fruit ) then also the tares became evident, Why ? because the tares are good for nothing and bore no spiritual fruit! So then man who works the works of GOD will be recognized by them, The parable is very clear concerning this obvious truth. Only those who twist what God says would try to render these verses otherwise.
v27 the slaves question the Master as to why there is wickedness amongst the good, Tares amongst the Wheat, Worthless among the worthwhile.
v28 The Master then explains an enemy sows the worthless ( Those who do not bear fruit ) What are those slaves wanting to do to the worthless fruitless tares? Gather them up and remove them ( burn them as this is all they are good for )This shows the hearts of the angels detest evil also, Just as we should.
v29 The servants/slaves ( angels ) are told to hold back until the appropriate time.
v30 The final seperation good from the wicked, The Good ( those who produced fruit worthy of repentance ) into the Master barn, The wicked into the furnace.
Now lets examine the words of our Lord when He is questioned by the disciples of this parable as He makes A very interesting response in one particular verse.
The Tares Explained
36Then He left the crowds and went into the house And His disciples came to Him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”
37And He said, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man,
38and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are (AG)the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one;
39and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is (AJ)the end of the age; and the reapers are angels.
40″So just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age.
41″The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness,
42and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
43″Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father He who has ears, let him hear.
These verses one hundred percent agree with the teaching i wrote but lets specifically look at verse 41 here
“The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness”
There is no indication ANYONE who commits lawlessness or stumbles others will be saved whether they name theirself as a Christian or otherwise. You simply cannot be a true follower of Christ and live an immoral lawless life.
Now some would say this applies to law ” Torah ” however the law is fulfilled in this saying Matt 7:12 “In everything therefore treat people the same way you want them to treat you, For this is the law and the prophets”
Studying Romans 6 would do us well, Shall we continue in sin that Grace may increase? May it never be ! How shall we who died to sin still ive in it.
V12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts. However Romans 7 clearly shows we are dead the the law of ordinances and commands as handed to Israel for we will fulfill these through the Spirit who indwells us.
Consider carefully Romans
14For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves,
15in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them,
16on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.
Remember God has looked over the sins PREVIOUSLY commited before the time you knew HIM you did not know His will He did this in order to show His righteousness ! What you have been taught in Church that all your sins Previous/ present and future are forgiven is A LIE they are ONLY forgiven if you do not intentionally sin and are repentant when you do sin – See Hebrews 10:26, 27. it would be preferable to study all of Hebrews 9 and 10 to see the relationship between Grace and Works / lawlessnes also studying James would be of great benefit.
If you have been living a life which is lawless doing those things which you know from your heart is disgusting before GOD change your ways, Repent – change the way you think and act and return to GOD as the prodigal son did.
