Be Quicker to Resist the Devil and You’ll Overcome
Published on Nov 7, 2017
To overcome sin you have to be really quick about resisting the devil. When temptation comes to you, you immediately have to choose what is right. You have to resist the temptation that comes and you have to draw close to the LORD through prayer. (Read James 4:7-10) By doing this you will overcome ANY sin. Many Christians are stuck in sin, BUT THEY DO KNOW THE BIBLE. They know the verses that are in the Bible. They are not sinning because they are “uneducated” they’re sinning because they don’t choose to resist the devil. Many Christians openly admit that they can’t stop sinning. They even use Bible verses to try to prove to you that everyone will sin and as long as we are here on earth NO ONE will stop sinning. It’s just a bunch of lies that they will say to other people to try to make THEMSELVES feel good about THEIR sin. But Jesus calls us OUT of our sin and He gives us a way, while we are on earth, right here, right now TODAY to be right with Him, to be holy and pure before Him! He takes away our sins and He gives us a way to resist the devil. If you want to resist the devil ANY time temptation comes to you, if it comes into your mind, if it comes through your eyes by you seeing something then you immediately RESIST the temptation and you start PRAYING. If you try to quote Bible verses it won’t really help you because if you fall into temptation, even if you KNOW the Bible and if you have those scriptures memorized it won’t scare satan away. What is going to help you is by praying to Jesus and resisting the devil by rebuking the devil, THEN the devil will leave. I know a lot of Christians like to talk about how Jesus was tempted in the wilderness and then how He quoted scripture against the devil. Well, I want to say this: Imagine if Jesus, when the devil told Him, “Turn this rock into bread…” What if Jesus then said, “OK, I’ll turn it into bread…” and He turned it in to bread and ate it, and THEN He quoted to the devil and He said, “Man shall not live on bread alone though but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God…” Jesus would have been a hypocrite if He did that and even though He quoted the scripture it would NOT have helped Him in resisting and drawing close to GOD. But MANY Christians are doing this, they actively pursue sin, yet they quote the Bible to the devil, and they think it will help them draw close to God. It won’t happen because they are not first resisting the devil and drawing close to God. You FIRST need to CHOOSE WHAT IS RIGHT, and the decision is YOURS. It is written on YOUR HEART right from wrong, but it is YOUR CHOICE if you will choose to follow Jesus or if you will fall into that temptation. It’s your decision if you will choose good or if you’ll choose evil, if you will go with Jesus or if you will go with the old devil. May the grace of Jesus be with you.
