as best as I could

EXCELLENT!

If we make the choice to walk out the door
and let all we have become nothing more —

can we look at ourselves
and resist this moment in time together?

It’s not impossible
that we can end this war
.

Just let your heart explode;
It’s not to late for a miracle!

No more fighting
No more crying
No more hurting
No…
[?]
No more lying

No more sighing
I’m still trying
Arms wide open

End this war

God will RUN
when we come back to Him!

The only safe place —
life in the Son!

The place of fullness and joy!

* * *

I first heard this wonderful song played at the Evanston [Ill.] Vineyard in about 1990, during the pastor’s message, entitled ~”The Father-Heart of God.” It’s one of my all-time favorite songs, and the other renditions I see online aren’t anywhere nearly as powerful as Benny Hester’s original version, which I’m very pleased to see is again on YouTube!

When God Ran

Written by: Benny Hester & John Parenti

Almighty God,
The Great I Am
Immoveable Rock,
Omnipotent powerful

Awesome Lord,
Victorious Warrior
Commanding King of Kings
Mighty Conquerer,

And the only time,
the only time I ever saw Him run
Was when

He ran to me,
Took me in His arms, held my head to His chest
And said “My son’s come home again”.
Looked in my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice
He said “Son, do you know I still love you?”

It caught me by surprise when God ran

The day I left Home,
I knew I’d broken His heart

When God Ran by Benny Hester

Wes Hall: It's Not Just Porn! "You're asking for power and there are areas of hidden compromise in your life. … I'm not talking about the R-rated movies. I'm talking about the PG-13s … certain sitcoms, TV shows where your spirit is being defiled."

Transcribed by Jeff Fenske from IHOP awakening, 1/2/10 PM

Some of you say: ‘God, commission me,’ but there’s pockets of darkness in your lives — secret, hidden sin.

I felt like the Lord gave me two words: lust and perversion — lust and perversion, immoral thinking — agreement with darkness — in areas of lust and pornography and perversion and perverse behavior, talking and lewd talk, immoral talk — filthy jokes — things that you watch, compromise in the things that you watch.

I’m not talking about the R-rated movies. I’m talking about the PG-13s — where you feed your spirit on perversion. I’m talking about certain sitcoms, TV shows where your spirit is being defiled by thinking in the ways of the world.

There is no room. There is nothing that darkness has to do with light. And you’re asking for power and there are areas of hidden compromise in your life.

The Lord is saying to you now: there is a window to repent. There is grace to repent and turn from that.

What has darkness to do with light? You’re saying, “God, send me as a messenger of light, but there’s a pocket of darkness in your soul.

I’m not talking about great introspection: “Lord, where is it?” I’m talking about those things that the Holy Spirit brings to mind right now. …

You need to confess that as sin before the Lord, right now. I encourage you to confess it before the Lord, right now. Make a determination in your heart to turn from it, right now.”

U2 — 'Magnificent' Live on Letterman!!!!!!! "Till we die, you and I will magnify The Magnificent!"

One of the greatest songs of all time—just out, on the album, No Line on the Horizon! Lyrics by Bono and The Edge.

I was born to be with you
In this space and time

After that and ever after I haven’t had a clue
Only to break rhyme
This
foolishness can leave a heart black and blue

I was born to sing for you
I didn’t have a choice but to lift you up
And sing whatever song you wanted me to
I give you back my voice
From the womb my first cry, it was a joyful noise

only love can leave such a mark
only love can heal such a scar*

* Question?

Such a scar* that only love can heal: is it the mark of the calling to sing and play for God, the alienation and put-downs from fallen man, the tremendous pressure to play something juicy? Or is it the black and blue heart caused by the foolishness of breaking rhyme with the Creator?

I was thinking the latter, but I’m not so sure now. I’m wondering what Bono and The Edge were thinking when they wrote the song. Imagine the struggle they’ve been through. Both attended a charismatic fellowship, called Shalom at one point with Larry Mullen. I’m really glad to see that Adam Clayton seems to also really like the song!!

Any ideas out there?

Incidentally, Bono has talked about how they could always count on God to show up when they would play live: Where the Streets Have No Name. God is in the house.

Text transcribed by Jeff Fenske from this video:

A Revival Account: Asbury 1970

Dennis Kinlaw, President of Asbury College (1970) recalls this amazing event.

A format had been developed. It started in that opening chapel. A student would give his witness. He would tell about how God was dealing with him about sin in his life. He’d make his confession. And then he would tell how God had brought forgiveness to him, and restoration. Or how the need of his heart had been met—the spiritual need.
As he would speak, there would be somebody in the audience who would say, ‘that’s like me.’ And then that person would come under conviction and come forward and kneel at the altar.
So a pattern had been developed of testimony, of sharing. Then after the testimony, prayer, and after the prayer, singing and praise and adoration. And then more witnessing, sharing how God had met human need.”
________________
“I suppose I had been there about an hour when a young lady came up…and she walked back and knelt side of the seat where I was sitting, and looked up at me and said:
‘Dr. Kinlaw, may I talk with you?’
I said, ‘why yes.’
She said, ‘I need help…. I’m a liar’ [Dr. Kinlaw breaks up with emotion] Excuse me. Forgive me for a minute.
She said, ‘I lie so much, I don’t even know when I’m lying. I am a liar. Now what do I do?’
Well I sat there for a moment or two, and I had never said this to anybody else, but I looked at her and I said, ‘why don’t you start back to the last person you remember that you lied to. Confess it to that person, and ask him or her to forgive you.’
‘Oh,’ she said, ‘that would kill me.’
I said, ‘no, it would probably cure you.’
Three days later, she came to me radiant, and she said, ‘Dr. Kinlaw, I’m free!’
I said, ‘what do you mean, ‘you’re free.?’
She said, ‘I just hit my 34th person and I’m free’ [Kinlaw raises both hands in the air in the way she probably had]!

REVIVAL at ASBURY College 1970–God Showed Up Big-Time!

This is the most inspiring revival video I’ve seen, “A Revival Account Asbury 1970.”
The students and faculty got right with each other, publicly confessing their sins. God showed up so powerfully that they shut down classes, the media showed up, and this was a hot topic on campus when I attended seminary the first time, during the ~1989 Vineyard revival.
The key was getting right with each other. That was the focus.

I bought videos many years ago from here.
This is a must see!
