Jesus prayed we'd be 'ONE' with each other in Him that the world will know! (John 17)

4th Century Origin of MARY WORSHIP — Under Constantine, pagan rituals and idols took on Christian meanings and names. Mary replaced the MOTHER GODDESS / sun god

From: eaec.org

Roman Catholicism
Founder: Emperor Constantine

Overview:
The Roman Catholic church, headquartered in Rome, Italy, has its own powerful City-State, the Vatican. The Roman Catholic church unofficially came into being in 312 A.D., at the time of the so-called “miraculous conversion” to Christianity of the Roman Emperor Constantine but he still worshipped the sun god. Although Christianity was not made the official religion of the Roman Empire until the edicts of Theodosius I in 380 and 381 A.D., Constantine, from 312 A.D. until his death in 337, was engaged in the process of simultaneously building pagan temples and Christian churches, and was slowly turning over the reins of his pagan priesthood to the Bishop of Rome. …

Prior to the time of Constantine’s “conversion,” Christians were persecuted not so much for their profession of faith in Christ, but because they would not include pagan deities in their faith as well. Then, with Constantine’s emphasis on making his new-found Christianity palatable to the heathen in the Empire, the “Christianization” of these pagan deities was facilitated. For example, pagan rituals and idols gradually took on Christian meanings and names and were incorporated into “Christian” worship (e.g., “saints” replaced the cult of pagan gods in both worship and as patrons of cities; mother/son statues were renamed Mary and Jesus; etc.), and pagan holidays were reclassified as Christian holy days (e.g., the Roman Lupercalia and the feast of purification of Isis became the Feast of the Nativity; the Saturnalia celebrations were replaced by Christmas celebrations; an ancient festival of the dead was replaced by All Souls Day, rededicated to Christian heroes [now Halloween]; etc.). …

When Rome went from being pagan to Christian under Constantine, they had to find a replacement for the great mother of paganism. It was not until the time of Constantine that anyone began to look at Mary as a goddess. Since Mary was the mother of Jesus Christ, she was the most logical person to replace the pagan mother goddess. The pagans could continue their prayers and devotion to the mother goddess, only they would call her Mary. The pagans worshipped the mother as much or more than her son and this is exactly what the Roman Catholicism does. True Christianity teaches that Jesus Christ is to be worshipped – not his mother. The fact remains that Jesus never hinted at the idea of Mary worship nor did any of the apostles. Worshipping the mother goddess along with her child took place centuries before Jesus Christ was ever born in many different parts of the world. In 431 A.D. Mary worship became an official doctrine of the church in at the Council of Ephesus.

Catholics worship mary more than they worship God.In Luke,a women told Jesus “blessed is the women who gave birth to you and breastfed you”,he told her “blessed are the ones who keep gods commandement”

Very good points made that those leading needed to adopt there old culture in part, to get the people to accept the new culture of belief.
I found it interesting learning the the Romans had a title “Son of God” before Christ ever mentioned it.
I found it odd that early religion fought so hard to bring forth the idea of one god and only one god, but then decided to adopt the idea of God and Son of God making more than one God again. Then there is the whole trinity thing.
      Seems so hypocritical.
Throughout history of religion we seem to project our lives on earth on to the realm of God and create stories of what goes on up there in Heaven.
The whole idea of creating the devil from a fallen angel. Back to the one god means there is no devil or Angles for that matter.
It is all Theology which is to teach us lesson to be good and godly. Some are ferry tails and some true stories.
Christ came with the idea of “positive reinforcement” being good for goodness sake and love of god not the old testament of fear of god.

I would like to make a little (& important) correction. Catholics do NOT “worship” Mary. Catholics only worship God. Mary, being the chosen one to give birth to Jesus, who is the Second Person of The Holy Trinity, is held in high DEVOTION , NOT worship. She is the perfect example for Humanity, on how to live solely for God, devoted to Him & accepting His Holy Will, whatever it may be. Many people have the misconception that you stated in this writing but it is inaccurate. ~ Thank you.

Have you not seen RC people touch the statue of Mother Mary and kiss and bow down and worship? You better get yourself corrected. I aknow and I have seen Roman Catholics are worshiping and praying to Mary. Why? Who said to pray to Mary? Where it is witten in the Bible in authorised version? It may be in RC Bible which contains non canonical books which were rejected due to many reasons at the canonisation.

So why are there Catholic Churchs in Europe that have hugh statues of Mary on the alter?????

    • If you pray to Mary in your “devotion” or the Hail Mary…. you are talking to her as if she is a goddess or partner along with our Creator. Prayers should only be directed to the One who created us, not another created being, stone, wood, or statue. It is ridiculous to claim you are not worshipping Mary while routinely praying to her. There is no need to pray to her when our All-Seeing, All Hearing, and All Knowing Creator can surely acknowledge and answer our prayers. Praying to Jesus or his mother is blasphemy and pagan to the core. #ConsiderIslam

Catholic official doctrine is to pray to Mary and other people who died too. This is completely unbiblical and also irrational. First, Mary and others in heaven can’t hear anyone’s prayers, and even if Mary could she could only listen to one prayer at a time. Every day she gets millions, praying the rosary and whatever, instead of praying to Jesus Who could actually listen to and answer their prayers.

Praying to people really is idol worship and idolatry, even if they don’t actually worship Mary and the “saints”; though, of course, many actually worship Mary.

Apparently, people can related to dead people more than they can to Holy Jesus, Who knows everything and will be our judge someday. So they pray to people instead, which is horrible!

Catholicism is somewhat of a cult in this way.

They also teach that regular lay people are not allowed to question Catholic doctrine, which completely violates Paul’s praise of the Bereans, who checked the Scriptures daily to make sure what Paul taught them was true.

    God bless!
