Pornography (wma)

Pornography (pdf)

In the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord Jesus must have shocked the people of His day when He equated lust to ADULTERY! His actual words about lust being adultery are:

“But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed ADULTERY with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into HELL.”

Please note the serious consequences of lust (mental adultery). According to Jesus, it’s possible to end up in Hell over lust! Therefore, the sin of lust must not be taken lightly, as many church people do.

lust in the heart is adulteryWhile driving down the road and listening to a teaching, my wife and I heard a prime example of taking lust far too lightly. The following dialog transpired between a phone caller [Archie] and the host [Gil] after the host presented a hypothetical situation involving lusting over a woman while driving. This is what Archie referred to when he told Gil that he used his “example of driving in the car.”

Archie: “Gil, you used my example of driving in the car.”

Gil: “Oh, so you been looking at [lusting after] women, too, huh?”

Archie: “Oh, yeah, all the time.”

Gil: [an outburst of laughter].

The chief aim of this article is to provide the sobering facts regarding “lust,” as used in Matthew 5:28. While some downplay the serious consequences of lust and mental adultery, others wrongly think the slightest and quickest visual contact on another’s body is always adultery. The latter will be greatly relieved to learn this is not so! Similarly, remember this: Temptation in itself is not a sin. Jesus was tempted (Heb. 2:18; 4:15), yet Jesus never sinned (2 Cor. 5:21). Therefore, temptation is not a sin. It only becomes a sin when you yield to it.

The Greek word rendered “lustfully” (Matt. 5:28, NIV) is found elsewhere and translated in such a way as to help us know the lust the Lord equated to mental adultery. This same exact word is found in Lk. 15:16 and Lk. 16:21. It’s also significant to note that Jesus gave us these other usages. Hence, he chose to use the same exact word in these other teachings as he chose to use in Matt. 5:28! Respectfully, those verses say:

He [the Prodigal] longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

And [Lazarus was] longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

The facts surrounding the sad circumstances of the Prodigal Son and Lazarus, two other places where Jesus also used the word rendered “lustfully” as mentioned in Matt. 5:28, help us to better understand its meaning. Regarding its usage by the Lord in Luke’s gospel, it seems evident that this word carries a meaning with it that makes it much deeper than just a casual glance at a woman, as some wrongly think. To substantiate this, Strong’s Concordance defines this word as “to set the heart upon, i.e. long for” (emphasis his, Greek Dictionary, p.31, no. 1937).

Eph.5:3-5 includes lust

Again, a casual glance at the opposite sex is not the lust in the heart being referred to in Matt. 5:28. However, when actual lust does occur, that is, when one “longs for” another, then adultery is actually committed! To deny that it is adultery is to indirectly doubt the Lordship of Jesus Christ! This also clearly refutes the statement I’ve often heard — “It’s okay to look [meaning lust], but not to touch.” Jesus never taught lust was okay! Nowhere is this form of adultery through lust, though solely mental, less serious than other forms, although many treat it as such! Remember, Jesus said it can send one to Hell (Matt. 5:29)! Could He be wrong?

How awesome to ponder this fact in regard to all of the pornographic literature that can be found in this country, which generates lust. Mental adultery is rampant! Truly, this is an “adulterous generation,” as Jesus said.

Recently, while waiting to see someone with whom I had an appointment, his office radio was tuned in to a secular station which had a “Penthouse Pet” on as a guest. This woman posed 60 times for Penthouse magazine, yet was hailed as some great celebrity and heroine. She showed no remorse for those sinful acts. Only on Judgment Day will it be revealed how many millions of men committed adultery through lust with that whorish woman. What a fine servant Satan has in that woman, who shamefully is the envy of many women in our country!

Men committing mental adultery through lust should also be a sobering thought for women who profess to be Christian and desire to please their Lord. Paul wrote that women are to dress “modestly” (1 Tim. 2:9), yet at the same time, Paul was a grace teacher in the truest sense. So this isn’t “law” as some accuse, but simple obedience! To disregard the way you dress might possibly be stumbling another into adultery! (The same applies to a man and his dress, for women can lust too.) Read what Jesus said in Matt. 18:6 about stumbling another into sin and marvel at this! Furthermore, regarding this whole matter of mental adultery, a woman who dresses with the intent to make men lust after her is on a par with a prostitute!

In our generation, TV is the prime way people lust and commit mental adultery. Even while watching the news report sometimes one is exposed to spiritually unwholesome scenes, which the devil is pleased to present. These spiritual pollutants flood into homes across our land, then people wonder why they are having trouble with lust! I personally believe that more adultery is committed before the TV set through lust than anywhere else!

Furthermore, it’s a sad day when people who profess to be God’s servants are ensnared by their TV as their precious free time is spent never to be regained! Our generation will have to account for this incredible waste of time at the Judgment. Please note I mentioned “our generation” since television has only been available commercially since just after World War II. (TV as a means of distraction and sexual temptation, is something which the Twelve never had. Moreover, there will be no TV’s in Heaven!) Remember this: Before the invention of TV, Christians got along fine without ever watching it! You can too! In fact, since my wife and I stopped watching all secular TV of any kind, including the Super Bowl, we get along much better without it! By this I mean we have much more time to labor for the Kingdom in one form or another besides the other advantages of not being tempted to lust or adopt the world’s values in the first place.

If you are having trouble with lust (and mental adultery) or know someone who is, the remedy, in part, is to cut off the source of temptation! It’s that simple. If literature is the lust temptation, then stop going near it. If it’s TV or movies, stop watching them. This is what you are to STOP doing. Paul wrote: “Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature” (Rom. 13:14). Also, remember sinful desires such as lust (adultery) are warring against your soul (1 Pet. 2:11). You must war back or be conquered. A fight is a fight and not a “bed of roses”!

Furthermore, to get victory over lust, you should START spending more time in the Bible meditating on and memorizing certain verses! Hiding God’s word in your heart will stop those mental temptations.

The unnamed writer of Ps. 119 both prayed and hid God’s word in his heart so he would not sin against God: “Do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Ps. 119:10,11). We all need to humbly follow this example.

In summary, victory over sin (including lust) is not just what you do but also what you don’t do! In other words, starve your sinful nature (by not thinking about how to gratify it) and feed your spirit with God’s word (by meditating in Scripture). Your voluntary thoughts, that is, the thoughts you choose to ponder when free to think about anything you want, are extremely important. Relevantly, Rom. 8:5 says, “Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” The following poem states it beautifully.

Two natures beat within my breast.
The one is cursed, the other is blessed.
The one I love, the other I hate.
The one I feed will dominate!

Similarly, Paul wrote, “The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life” (Gal. 6:8).

In the Old Testament, we also read of lust in passages like Prov. 6:25,26: “Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes, for the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread, and the adulteress preys upon your very life.” Again, lust leads to disaster! Therefore, do not take this sin lightly.

By the way, the word rendered “lustfully” in Matt. 5:28 is used in a good sense in 1 Tim. 3:1 and Heb. 6:11. This latter verse reads: “And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end”

Unlike the Calvinists, Paul emphasized free will and human responsibility. (He did this without contradicting his own grace message.) He wrote, “Keep yourself pure” (1 Tim. 5:22). Undoubtedly, many will have to make MAJOR TV changes to obey this command! Victory over TV and lust will benefit you and others in this life and throughout eternity, but get ready for the battle regarding it!

Job was the most unique man on earth in his day — being blameless, upright, a man that feared God and shunned evil (Job 1:8). This man said of himself, “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl” (31:1). This is also very important in our day in light of Matt. 5:28,29 and the rampancy of pornographic literature, movies and commercials in our vile country, which generates lust.

Paul wrote, “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry” (Col. 3:5). Please note: it’s your responsibility coupled with the power of God (Rom. 8:13) that is the victory over lust.

It might surprise some to learn that Jesus used the Greek word from which we get our word “pornography” in Rev. 22:15, and stated that along with some others, such are “outside” the city of New Jerusalem. (In that verse, the word is rendered “the sexually immoral,” NIV.) If we compare Rev. 21:8 to this same verse, we know their specific location is clearly the lake of fire!

The Low-Cut Top Epidemic: May We Be Holy

I’d like to address the current ‘fad’ of women wearing low-cut tops, because I’ve spoken with both men and women who call themselves ‘Christians’ who actually told me that it’s okay for Christian women to dress this way.
Fairly recently, a pastor even responded: “how low is too low,” after I brought up to him that women on staff were wearing low-cut tops during church services. I probably wouldn’t have said anything, but this pastor had been emphasizing how he wanted us to do what Jesus did, and I was very enthusiastic about being a part of this. But then I started seeing a pattern that I hoped wasn’t a big red flag that would put a kibosh on what I had hoped would be real Christianity.
I noticed how he would teach over and over the promises that Paul wrote, while glossing over the adjacent passages that clearly mentioned the cost. He would expound on the glorious inheritance that is ours, now, as children of God without teaching what Paul stated is required to be a child of God.
In the 80s, I was blessed to be able to attend a church in which some the elders’ wives [thank you, Carol & the others!] taught the women specifics on dressing modestly. It wasn’t over-the-top stuff like women could only wear dresses, never pants, but rather practical ways to live out what the Bible teaches, to dress modestly. Basically, tight and revealing clothing were not appropriate for Godly women, because inappropriate attire could be a stumbling block for guys.
And in this setting, we guys and gals saw God move in many significant ways during some of our Bible school classes and during “Prayer and Praise.” It was great!
Today, few churches have the conviction and courage to teach the truth about modesty. And lust reigns in many a “Christian'” heart—both men and women. And this is not just one of the issues that will keep the kingdom of God happening among us, this is absolutely also a salvation issue, which I cover in Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures.
This is very serious; though, many who have truly been born-again now have their consciences so seared by the lack of modesty in our society that they no longer feel shame when wearing revealing clothing or when willfully looking. And it’s come to the point that some “Christians” will actually say that ‘Christian’ women wearing low-cut tops is no big deal.
Perhaps there are some women who don’t understand how visually God made most guys to be—how attractive the female form is to most guys. I say “most guys,” because perhaps there are some men who really do have the gift of singleness, and aren’t in this way attracted. But most of us do not have this gift.
I’d like to share an experience that I had about 20 years ago, long before the low-top craze. I was attending an exercise class in a small studio. The instructor was female. I was doing just fine, concentrating on her instructions until she bent over, facing us. I freaked! She was close to my type, and I was seeing things I shouldn’t see.
I think she saw in the expression of my face my reaction. And I never returned; though, doing these exercises probably would have benefited my health greatly.
Since then, I’ve learned to train my eyes to quickly look away (some call this bouncing the eyes), for when in close proximity, the field of view of non-peripherial human vision is so narrow that we can look at a woman’s face without seeing clearly what is below. But ladies, most guys are not going to be this careful. But every Christian man should be. For example, Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount teaching is so crystal clear. Lust is adultery and a damming sin:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery;’ but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. (Matthew 5:27-30)

Likewise, Paul was clear in his teaching toward Christian women:

I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. (1 Timothy 2:8-10)

One author interprets shamefacedness (Greek: aidos) this way:

The word shamefacedness comes from a Greek word which means literally “downcast eyes,” but it is meant in a good sense and refers to one who is ashamed to overstep the limit of womanly reserve.

In my Let Us Be One prophecy, God said it this way in the chapter I call Jesus’ Dress Code:

My people, live as ONE, not judging one another, being critical of how they dress, one more popular than another. We are all different. Everyone is unique.

Give people space, as long as it’s holy. You need to have righteousness girded about your loins. Hide yourself. They don’t need to see everything. That is for your husband, only him.

Be careful; this is right.

God designed women to be very attractive to men. And there are certain things that only the woman’s husband should see—no matter what the Devil through society is telling us.
Freedom in Christ is in part freedom from actual lust demons that drive probably the majority of Americans to not be free in the lust area. Not giving the demons a place at all is the only way to be lust-demon free.
We need to “be careful. This is right.”
Praise God!

Ed Young: "Just Lust"—Dealing with Lust

Here is half of Ed Young’s topically important, six-part, video series.
I would like to add that lust is absolutely a salvation issue. We must overcome no matter what! At least Ed presents some of the truth here. Praise God! I think America has fallen into the trap of worshiping the creation instead of the creator (Rom. 1:24, 25).
Also not mentioned: lust is a demon overcoming issue. Demons drive lust—once we have let them in by lusting even just a little bit. 0%, cold turkey is where freedom reigns—a rest that can be tangibly felt! There should only be one ‘painter’ inside: the Holy Spirit (referring to what Ed says in message 6: “Leaving Lust Vegas”). We should be free.
Submit to God; resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

On 1/14/12, the 4 year anniversary of this post, I pulled my $6,000 challenge, which ran for almost 2 years (mostly at $6,000). No one has been able to refute this straight Bible truth about who really goes to heaven and who really are the children of God according to what the New Testament says.
“Once saved, always saved (OSAS)” and “it’s hard to lose one’s salvation” is being taught almost universally in these great days of deception. The Bible predicted this time we’re living in right now!:

“For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables” (2 Tim. 4:3,4).

Once saved, always saved a doctrine of demons, a heresy, actually, that is destroying our land and sending many into eternal darkness, thinking they are going to heaven. And it will be flame on for many teachers, especially, who will get “a stricter judgment” for misleading the people from believing the many clear warnings in scripture.
This is not a joke or a game. This is serious!!!

On the positive side, Jesus stated in John 17 that He would give us His glory so we’d be ‘ONE’ with each other in Him. Then the world would know!

Sound doctrine will bear much fruit. Unity will happen, because when we’re holy, worshiping in Spirit and in truth, God will draw near to us. And we’ll see a great revival, which may be called the Third Great Awakening, which should last until the end of days, because we finally accepted at face value what the Bible clearly says — not making excuses: ‘God didn’t really mean that.’ ‘Don’t worry, be happy.

I’ve been interested in this subject for about four decades, but I had a dream about 20 years ago in which I was told that I was in “danger of going to hell,” because I had been willfully lusting during a one or two week period while watching TV in the evening during a discouraging period in my life.

And then I heard an abbreviation of  Jesus’ words in Mt. 5:27-30: ~”Anyone who looks at woman to lust after her commits adultery, and it’s better to pluck out your eye than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”
My immediate reaction was: “You’re serious!”

The fact that God is serious when He says something is the most important key to understanding the scriptures. If God says it He means it, regardless of what we would like it to mean. So when Jesus says ~”narrow is the way and few find it,” ‘narrow’ means narrow and ‘few’ really does mean few. Howard Pittman found this number to be 2.5%, and that was 30 years ago, before internet porn and the ‘low-cut top epidemic.’

So then we better not major on the nicer sounding passages from Paul’s intros and ignore the many straight-forward, conclusive texts in this essay which clearly lay out what is required to be a real, going-to-heaven Christian.
When we’re honest with the text and ourselves, we’ll find that the entire New Testament teaches the same thing. Our consciences must be clear from biblically abiding in the Vine according to Romans 8:1, all of it (the NIV and other truth-gutting translations took out 8:1b).

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” KJV

Being ‘born-again’ is just the start. We must be holy, having clear consciences now so we’ll have clear consciences when we see Jesus face to face — and we’ll both smile big … : )
May we be ‘ONE’!!!

That the world will know — and we’ll be so happy…!

– Jeff : )

This article has been online for 8 years. Because this issue is so crucial to almost everyone in so many ways, I’ve been offering a reward to anyone who can refute it — and no one has been able to.

So it appears this article has withstood the tests. Jesus really did mean: “narrow is the way” and “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

It’s easy to say ‘Lord,’ but quite different to actually do His will: to make sure our hearts are right with Him and each other.
1 John 4:16,17:

We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains IN GOD, and God remains in him. In this[,] love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world.

Probably the greatest and most serious deception in the world is the misconception about what the Bible really teaches about who goes to heaven.

Many are being deceived, having not been taught the truth about what Jesus’ requires so that we will have boldness (and I’m hoping even a very big smile) when we stand before Jesus.

What follows is what I’ve learned from more than 30 years of studying and prayerfully thinking this through. I’ll start with a few words about being born-again, and then jump into the texts. Lust: A Discussion Within—BODY (heart?), MIND & SPIRIT

The key is to stop this internal discussion before it gets rolling–to nip it in the bud–to not give the Devil a ‘place’–an entry point (as it is with anger–Eph. 4:26,27).
Once the place is given, however, demons can then actually drive the heart’s desire to lust, cranking up from what maybe was a 3 to a 10! Many people live like this constantly–never finding FREEDOM.
Paul said: “To be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Rom. 8:6)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.” (Gal. 5:22-24)
This is normal in order to be a child of God.
We must obey.
Freedom in Christ!!!

“Sometimes my mind wants to do one thing, like when it comes to, let’s say, I see a beautiful woman.
And my body says, ‘boy, it would be nice to be with her.’
And my mind says, ‘yeah, but if I do and she’s married, I might get caught; I might face the consequences’–a very logical reasoning.
And then my spirit says ‘that’s morally wrong to have sex with her outside of marriage.'”

Jesus shows in Matthew 5 that lust originates in the heart, and leads to death:

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. 29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. 30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

This is a very serious matter.
We must overcome and be free!
