Federal gay marriage law could end churches’ tax exempt status unless they marry gays

OUR WOKE LEADERS’ ASSAULT ON WESTERN CULTURAL VALUES

In the name of diversity and tolerance, American social, governmental, corporate, and even religious leaders are pushing or buckling under as the woke agenda sweeps the Western world in promoting homosexuality, abortion, transgenderism, and the dismantling of all traditional conservative and Christian values. But there’s an even more sinister hidden agenda behind all these claims of protecting the “freedom to choose” and tolerance. By giving gay marriage, abortion, contraception, and transgender alterations legal status, and protection under federal law, those that oppose these issues can then be legally prosecuted under hate and anti-discrimination laws. In other words, they are not content with your toleration or even the ability of private woke corporations to censor you and all that you oppose—they want you legally silenced, if not removed from society entirely.

This week the House passed the mis-named “Respect for Marriage Act” which is anything but respect for traditional marriage. Nowadays, virtually all Congressional legislation is given a title that is a lie or an exaggeration for propaganda effect. Jared Eckert of the Heritage Foundation explains the underlying purpose of making a federal law backing gay marriage even though the Supreme Court has already given it judicial (but still unconstitutional) protection. The radical Left is afraid the Supreme Court may overturn gay marriage as they did Roe v. Wade and thus the call to inculcate all these contradiction to Western religious values as law.

In an alarmist overreaction to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, congressional liberals this week passed radical legislation mislabeled as the Respect for Marriage Act… Despite its name, the bill isn’t about marriage or respect at all. It’s about imposing the radical left’s sexual ideology as state orthodoxy.

Final passage would mean states no longer are allowed to define and recognize marriage as a legal union between a man and a woman. Instead, they would be forced to recognize any unionbetween two individuals, regardless of sex, as marriage.

Even more radical, the bill would require federal recognition of polygamy if just one state requires it. By radically redefining marriage and eviscerating states’ rights, the bill would transform matters of disagreement—even on the basis of deeply and sincerely held religious belief—into discrimination. …

Sadly, there were 47 Republicans who joined with Democrats on this same-sex marriage bill that has only passed the House so far. Most were radical RINOs like Liz Cheney but some still claim to be conservatives, like all 4 representatives from Utah (following the lead of the predominate religion in Utah encouraging excessive tolerance for gays).

The GOP is afraid to stand and fight against this war on cultural and religious values that America has long stood for. When leaders cave, their unthinking followers will do so as well.

The New York Times noted that the Republican support for the bill was “remarkable.” [The Deep State media loves it when Republicans compromise.] “They’ve made the calculated decision that Evangelicals will never abandon the Republican Party,” Starnes said.

Sad, but true. Mainstream Evangelical churches think their very survival is tied to the every-compromising Republicans. If passed by the Senate and signed into law by President Biden, the bill would repeal the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act and would cause gay marriage to be protected by federal law against any form of discrimination. For naive churches that support this, this law could be a future justification for the IRS to take away their tax exempt status if they refuse to consummate gay marriages!
