I saw Deryck Box lead worship for the first time (at IHOP’s 24/7 prayer room). Impressed, I wanted to find out more, especially his double-capo technique (one was up 2 frets and seemed to cover only the four lowest strings). Nice and chimey! I love this sound!!
But then I found this little gem!!!

This is the guitarist that was so hot here:
It’s nice to see this maximum-effects-processor guitar style used in a worship song.
A few days ago, they played a similar set that was really nice (this is a bit depressing, actually)!! I played it over and over! Ben led from the keyboard, instead of guitar.

Phillips, Craig & Dean – Revelation Song
Uploaded by ziyulu on Aug 12, 2009
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Holy, holy is He
Sing a new song, to Him who sits on
Heaven’s mercy seat
Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You
I will adore You
Clothed in rainbows, of living color
Flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor, strength and glory and power be
To You, the only wise King, yeah
Filled with wonder, awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus, Your name is power, breath, and living water
Such a marvelous mystery, yeah

No one else can love You like I love You Lord
For I was made unique in Your heart
I was made to bring You joy

Based in Houston, fingerstyle guitarist Mark McCain and Houston Grand Opera Cellist Erika Johnson have brought their diverse talents together to create what some industry notables are calling “…timeless music that will last for decades in people’s music collections…” With music ranging from modern classical, to Celtic, to bluegrass and jazz. This two-some has quickly become one of the most creative and versatile duos of their day. “If you enjoy the music of artists like Phil Keaggy, Tommy Emmanuel, or Yo Yo Ma, you are sure to love Touch the Strings.”

“Love Rescue Me”
Written by Bono and Bob Dylan
Love rescue me
Come forth and speak to me
Raise me up and don’t let me fall
No man is my enemy
My own hands imprison me*
Love rescue me
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1ohx398P7I]
“Love Rescue Me” is the eleventh track from U2’s 1988 album, Rattle and Hum. Sung by The Omagh Community Youth Choir (formed in October 1998 in the wake of the Omagh Bomb atrocity of August 15th 1998, Ireland) for a journey named Playing For Change [Peace Through Music], a multimedia movement to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music.
* Jesus explains in Matthew 18 how the tormentors [demons have a right to] imprison us when we don’t actively forgive everyone from our entire hearts:
21 Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.
23 Therefore the Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who wanted to reconcile accounts with his servants. 24 When he had begun to reconcile, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But because he couldn’t pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, with his wife, his children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down and kneeled before him, saying, ‘Lord, have patience with me, and I will repay you all!’ 27 The lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. 28 “But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, who owed him one hundred denarii, and he grabbed him, and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ 29 “So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will repay you!’ 30 He would not, but went and cast him into prison, until he should pay back that which was due. 31 So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were exceedingly sorry, and came and told to their lord all that was done. 32 Then his lord called him in, and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt, because you begged me. 33 Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?‘ 34 His lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors, until he should pay all that was due to him. 35 So my heavenly Father will also do to you, if you don’t each forgive your brother from your hearts for his misdeeds.”

The songs being sung by the Bride [‘Christians’ – ed.]
at that time were focusing on need [ourselves – ed.].
My heart longed to focus on something far greater than my need,
knowing that all needs would be satisfied with just one glimpse of Him.

The Story Behind “Revelation Song,”
by Jennie Riddle
Back in 1999, I had just changed my 20,446th diaper (yes… I count… don’t you? ), and began singing the aforementioned lullaby over my fourth son, Andrew, as we cuddled in our blue chair. My keyboard was broken down, and I simply didn’t have the energy to set it up; it had been a really tough “mommy” day. The guitar (which I didn’t really play) was accessible, my spaghetti dinner was begging to be cooked and screaming my name… but so was the Holy Spirit! I, again, began telling Him how much I wanted to SEE and HEAR all creation worshipping Him. The songs being sung by the Bride at that time were focusing on need. My heart longed to focus on something far greater than my need, knowing that all needs would be satisfied with just one glimpse of Him.
Therefore, I asked the Holy Spirit to help me write a song that painted Him; a song that the angels and creation were already singing, so that we could join in with One Voice, as One Bride, to One King. My heart recalled Ezekiel 1:26-28 and Revelation 4…. (Entire Article Here)

This is an amazing worship song being performed at Christ for the Nations Institute…. I always loved this song but its impact became so much more powerful when I realized how biblical and real it is. This video is an attempt to give an idea of the biblical context, so you know that when you sing this song, you are truly joining the angels…
Thank God for the renegades,
and the lives they lead
Far ahead of their time
Without the renegades,
Lord knows where we’d be
When it comes to heroes,
Renegades are mine

From Nazareth he came,
With a rag tag band
To bring, A revolution
Some would make Him King,
others couldn’t stand for that
The cross, Was a solution
But he rose again,
and wise men follow him
He rose again,
and wise men follow him

One of the greatest songs of all time—just out, on the album, No Line on the Horizon! Lyrics by Bono and The Edge.
I was born to be with you
In this space and time
After that and ever after I haven’t had a clue
Only to break rhyme
This foolishness can leave a heart black and blue …
I was born to sing for you
I didn’t have a choice but to lift you up
And sing whatever song you wanted me to
I give you back my voice
From the womb my first cry, it was a joyful noise
…only love can leave such a mark
…only love can heal such a scar*

* Question?
Such a scar* that only love can heal: is it the mark of the calling to sing and play for God, the alienation and put-downs from fallen man, the tremendous pressure to play something juicy? Or is it the black and blue heart caused by the foolishness of breaking rhyme with the Creator?
I was thinking the latter, but I’m not so sure now. I’m wondering what Bono and The Edge were thinking when they wrote the song. Imagine the struggle they’ve been through. Both attended a charismatic fellowship, called Shalom at one point with Larry Mullen. I’m really glad to see that Adam Clayton seems to also really like the song!!
Any ideas out there?
Incidentally, Bono has talked about how they could always count on God to show up when they would play live: Where the Streets Have No Name. God is in the house.
I saw Phil Keaggy play “March of the Clouds” about 1/2 of my lifetime ago, and had the great pleasure of telling him that this song reminds me of heaven. He smiled and said something like: “really?”
To me, this marching of the clouds symphonic illustration also has a strong ascending quality, a rising up toward heaven, kind of like in The Spiral Staircase Vision, but with no lonely downside, because the body of Christ is marching up the staircase together, towards God as ONE unit — everyone right with each other and finally, truly ‘in Christ’ — each led by the Holy Spirit.
I don’t know what Phil was thinking when he wrote this song, but it’s interesting that he chose the image of clouds marching across the sky. For every cloud is a unique, one-of-a-kind, though the entire sky is often filled with clouds that are all moving in exactly the same direction, moving as if ONE.
Paul’s picture in 1 Corinthians 12 is similar. “You are the body of Christ” (v. 27) One is a foot, another is an eye, etc., each having different spiritual giftings. But “there should be no schism in the body” (v. 25a). We need each other to be able to march as ONE — in Christ, our Head.
Rick Joyner’s vision comes to mind: “When we reached the level called “The Unity of the Brethren,” none of the enemy’s arrows could reach us.”
ONE will happen, and it will be glorious!!

A few of the YouTube comments:
“playing with the finger and the plectrum of God, he could calm an army of sauls.”
“This is the song that God plays at the cloud factory :)”
“If I had to define Phil Keaggy musically, I’d say this: His greatest talent and gift, I believe, isn’t just that he plays so well – its that he also knows exactly where and how to hang each note – as if he’s decorating with the music. He’s an artist more than a guitar player. He just paints with music.”
“This is a clip from a Keith Green song that was never on any of his albums.”

Today the number one concern world-wide is security. Everyone worries about safety. Who will ensure our safety and provide the refuge we seek?
These selected quotes (in the video) from the psalm are set to music with the same title by John Michael Talbot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him;
I will set him securely on high, because he knows and understands My Name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love and kindness- trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honour him.
With long life I will satisfy him
And show him My Salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16 AMP
