Jesus prayed we'd be 'ONE' with each other in Him that the world will know! (John 17)

Look what the NIV did to Romans 8:1 — They changed the entire meaning of the verse and leave no requirement or prerequisite to being free from condemnation! [Romans 8:1A is now an OSAS theme song, while verses 4-17 still say we must walk according to the Spirit, suffering with Christ to be heirs & children of God having ‘no condemnation’]

A Comparison Between the King James (KJV) &

The New International (NIV) Bibles

Romans 8:1

KJV “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

NIV “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,”

NIV leaves out “who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” It changes the entire meaning of the verse and leaves no requirement or prerequisite to being free from condemnation. In truth, the verse tells us that if you do walk in the flesh, then there is condemnation. They have taken that out, so that you won’t know the truth. (source).

How the full version of Romans 8:1 totally fits with verses 2-19 (WEB):

There is therefore now *no condemnation* to those who are *in Christ Jesus*, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the law couldn’t do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh; 4 that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace; 7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God’s law, neither indeed can it be. 8 Those who are in the flesh can’t please God.

9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his. 10 If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. 15 For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; 17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us. 19 For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.

I believe a lot of people are going to get a serious “wake up” call someday!! A lot of preachers are fooling people into believing a lie. My teen aged daughters told me their Sunday school teacher told them after you’re saved it does not matter what you do, God will never count it against you anymore. A friend of theirs said then it doesn’t matter that I still use cuss words and their teacher said nope that doesn’t matter anymore. I was shocked!!!!

      • Deb,

Thanks for sharing. That is shocking, for someone to actually fully admit what almost every pastor in America now really teaches. Most pastors won’t be so honest and blunt, but when they say “it’s all about what Christ did, and not about what we do” that’s what they’re saying — “nothing can keep us from the love of God” — what Paul ended Romans 8 with, but only applies to those who are actually in Christ, and therefore have “no condemnation,” because they’re not walking according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 Even as it is written, “For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

37 No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is a classic ‘itching ears’ gross misinterpretation of Romans 8, which the NIV’s removal of verse 8:1b helps facilitate; though, verses 4-17 say the same thing. They shut their ears to what Paul really says, and the people like what they hear so they don’t hold pastors accountable to teach the truth. They now prefer fables that fit their lifestyle.

“For The TIME WILL COME when THEY WILL NOT LISTEN to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves TEACHERS AFTER THEIR OWN LUSTS; and will TURN AWAY THEIR EARS FROM THE TRUTH, and turn aside to FABLES” (2 Tim. 4:3-4)

Paul is so crystal clear in Romans 8:4-17, that even with the removal of 8:1b, the promise in verses 35-39 should still obviously only apply to those who truly abide in Christ according to the stipulations he stated in the first part of Romans 8:

1 There is therefore now *no condemnation* to those who are *in Christ Jesus*, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

It’s so clear. How can people be so blind?

And dozens of other New Testament texts say basically the same thing, as I’ve compiled here:

“Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way | Who are the Children of God? — “There is therefore now *no condemnation* to those who are IN CHRIST Jesus, who don’t WALK according to the flesh, but ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT”

This is so serious. Thanks again for sharing!

I think that if you look at all the translations… that the KJV is in fact one of the few that include your ending to this verse. This verse lacks nothing without the KJV. So maybe there is a later manuscript that has this added in on…that’s what I have seen stated as a note at the foot of my bible. Also Verse 4 says the exact same thing, there is no escaping this message in God’s word. Even with the NIV version it lacks nothing in message, it is abundantly clear to see by what the rest of Romans 8 says about living by the Spirit that we must stop sinning. Not only here in Romans 8 but also throughout the bible…Romans 13, 1 Corinthians 6:9, Ephesians, Galatians, Hebrews 10:26-31 most of 1 John, 5 of the 7 Churches from Asia minor in Rev. ch 2 & 3 that Jesus warns to repent from there wrong doing, Rev 21:7-8 & 14 & 15 and too many more to cover. Also you will see in Rev 21:14 another complaint from KJV enthusiasts that NIV is corrupt…Instead of “obey my commandments” NIV says “wash their robes”. But then again, it’s not just NIV that says this, almost every other translation agrees with NIV. I am not saying that KJV is corrupt either but let’s refer back to the original text to verify what God’s word is really saying. We need to understand all of God’s word and in the proper context. Satan will pose as an angel of light and try to convince people it is O.K. to sin, and the most sold bible version of the most sold book in the world (NIV) certainly does not say that, nor does any of the other common translations.

      • Randy,

My NIV doesn’t have a footnote explaining the deletion of 8:1b. Some may though, because the NIV has many editions in which they change things.

My NIV does say in the last chapter of Mark that the last eleven verses are not in the “most reliable early manuscripts and ancient witnesses.” Yet they still include the ending they say is erroneous, probably because people would realize something is terribly wrong when “Go into all the world…” is gone. Stopping at verse 8 makes no sense.

Also included in portion the NIV wants to throw away is:

17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

If a scribe in the early centuries A.D. would be corrupt enough to add verses, they’re not likely going to add words and verses that make Christianity more deeply spiritual, where Christians follow Christ more fully. They’re going to go in the opposite direction, adding words and changing phrases to make Christianity easier. And this was not done, as many people have demonstrated. The Nestle Aland based translations teach a more watered down gospel.

It is true that verse four in Romans 8:4 also says “who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit,” but few pastors today point this out. Most only emphasize verse 1 and the promise at the end of the chapter, which actually only applies to those who are really in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Verses 2-17 don’t make the rounds on Facebook, or are preached on TV. Romans 8:1a is the OSAS theme song, along with John 3:16.

In the church I spent much of my life at in Anchorage, a false teacher was brought in to change the salvation doctrine to once-saved-always-saved. He actually said in his Galatians-5 message that his favorite verse is Romans 8:1 (the gutted version excluding 1b).

I listened to K-Love for a week a few years ago. They ran an ad at least once an hour that stated Romans 8:1a. They love OSAS at K-Love, where “positive-encouragement” is their theme.

People love 8:1a, which the Bible predicted would happen:

“For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables.” – 2 Tim. 4:3-4

It’s hard for many to believe that really smart theologians sold us out when they decided the Nestle Aland Greek text is more reliable than the Textus Receptus, but that’s exactly what they did. I’ve spent enough time at seminary to see what makes the professors tick, and how they make decisions. A lot of it is group-think. There is a lot of pressure to conform to those who call the shots.

Geniuses become professors. People who have fantastic memories and writing and speaking skills. Their minds seem like they never slow down enough to carefully consider what the Holy Spirit thinks about a verse. There is no requirement at all for being led by the Holy Spirit, and chapel was spiritually dead. The most uncomfortable place was walking on the sidewalks, meeting dogmatic professors and students face to face, who would rather shun students who believe we’re supposed to actually abide in Christ and have fruits that remain.

James Perloff shows some of what happened to seminaries in his article, “The War on Christianity, Part 1.”

I should also say the ego in many professors is scary. And they love being called “Doctor __,” which Jesus said not to do. Don’t call anyone rabbi (teacher). Knowledge puffs up, and many of these professors are puffed up. It’s very sad.

Michael Brown is a good example online. He always wants to be called “Doctor,” and even calls his online sites using the “dr.” preface. He blocks those who carefully tell the truth when they disagree with him, and shadow bans them on YouTube. I know, because I’ve seen it with others, and experienced it firsthand. It took me awhile to figure out the shadow banning on YouTube though. Michael did write a book refuting OSAS, but still basically concludes that it’s really hard to lose one’s salvation, which is not what the New Testament teaches at all. He also strongly pushes ‘Christian’ Zionism, which he can more easily do by blocking comments that tell the truth about what really happened and what’s really going on.

Removing information, lying by omission is a common way to misrepresent what is true, which is what these Nestle Aland based translations have done.

To see how poor and unreliable these “more reliable” Greek texts really are, please read this article. These “more reliable” Greek texts were in part earlier because they were seldomly used.

Most modern NT ‘Bibles’ are based on an Egyptian text rejected by Christendom 1500 years ago

This article also goes into how the Egyptian scribes intentionally altered the texts:

What is HORRIBLY WRONG with Modern Bible Translations like the NIV? Most modern versions slavishly depend on the Egyptian and Vatican corruptions of the New Testament!

The Textus Receptus is based on Syrian manuscripts instead, that actually are very reliable.

Zondervan lies. Professors lie, just like how many medical doctors lie to get people to take their drugs and expensive surgery, instead of doing natural things. Institutes of higher learning cannot be trusted. They’ve been coopted. I don’t know of one seminary in the United States that actually teaches the truth about who goes to heaven. And almost all teach cessationism, so they love the removal of the end of the book of Mark; though, they still have no leg to stand on, because there are still many verses that tell the truth about the spiritual gifts. Not one teaches cessationism or OSAS.

So most American churches today are spiritually dead, including most charismatic churches.

But everyone knows Romans 8:1a — “There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” They’re told: “it’s all about what Jesus did, and has nothing to do with what we do. Yay!”

The false teachers are so far mostly getting away with it because:

        1. It’s what people want to hear (“itching ears”). “They don’t have to abide in Christ to be ‘in Christ.’
        2. Pastors and ‘Bibles’ are lying by omission, made even easier by what isn’t put on the overhead screens

I didn’t mention Wescott and Hort, the originators of the false Greek New Testament text deception. They probably weren’t even born-again Christians, and were possibly involved in the occult. In this article, I list the deletions which I consider to be some of the more serious ones:

Westcott and Hort Magic Marker Binge! Would you take a magic marker to your Bible and cross out words from passages? Do you read the NIV?

Randy, thanks for seeking the truth and commenting here. The deception in the last days is much greater than I ever imagined possible. The OSAS greatest hits seem to be the only verses that most people now see. We need to be super vigilant and careful so we find and live in the narrow way Jesus said his way really is.

        God bless,

        Jeff

What you fail to realize is that the NIV translation of that verse is the correct translation. The NIV translated the first verse in Romans chapter 8 based upon older manuscripts that were written long before half of Romans 8:4 was added to Romans 8:1 by the KJV. Read both verses one and two in each version and it should become clear which translation is correct — remembering that verse two is a continuation of verse one.

    • Most modern NT ‘Bibles’ are based on an Egyptian text rejected by Christendom 1500 years ago — that removed the second half of Romans 8:1 – “Now there is NO CONDEMNATION to them which are IN CHRIST JESUS, ***WHO don’t WALK according to the flesh, but ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT***”
      The problem:
The new translations of the Bible have “corrected” the older versions and we find many of our beliefs a little harder to defend. What has happened? They say they have found more reliable, and older manuscripts.

The Faithful Witness, From Amazing Facts [In brackets and indented, I add more of the original, footnoted article – editor]

The case of those “older” Biblical manuscripts. …

There is now a general concept that newer translations are more reliable because they are translated from “older” Biblical manuscripts than the KJV. This argument has been used in discrediting the second half of the verse in Romans 8:1 where it says “Now there is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

Let’s look at these “older” manuscripts of NT writings in more detail. For the past hundred years there has been a rivalry between two Greek texts: the Received Text and the Critical Text. …

The critical Text has only come into wide circulation in the last hundred years, as evidenced by the large number of Bible versions translated from it. It is largely influenced by the Alexandrian line of manuscripts. Out of over 5000 Greek manuscripts in existence, only a small handful – less than ten — contain this text-type. However prominent among these few are two manuscripts which many scholars value more highly than most other manuscripts. They are called Sinaiticus and Vaticanus, and they date a little over 200 years from the original writings.

Sinaiticus was discovered in 1844 by Constantine Tischendorf while visiting a monastery at the base of Mt. Sinai. He found 43 leaves of it in a basket waiting to be burned. Several years later he acquired the remainder of the leaves from the monastery, and by 1862 he had published the complete manuscript.

Vaticanus’ history is not as dramatic as Sinaiticus. . Pope Nicholas V brought it to the Vatican in 1448. For hundreds of years, the Roman Catholic Church guarded it so closely that no Protestant scholar of ability was allowed to study it for any length of time. In 1866 however, the Vatican finally allowed Constantine Tischendorf, under supervision, to copy the manuscript. In 1867 he published it.

Both these manuscripts are older than the Received Text from which the KJV was translated. Does this mean we now have a more authentic base for our modern Biblical translations?

These older manuscripts contain significantly different readings than those of the Received Test. The Alexandrian Test had been out of circulation for 1500 years. If it is the true version why would God allow His church to be deprived of the truth for so long? In addition the benefits of the Alexandrian Text to the church have been dubious indeed.

This text type has trouble meeting scholarly standards for accuracy of transcription. Minor differences within text types are normal; however, the number of variants within the Alexandrian Text is enormous. Not including minor errors such as spelling, Sinaiticus and Vaticanus disagree with each other over 3000 time[s] in the space of the four Gospels alone. This means that one or the other must be wrong 3000 times. That averages to a disagreement on almost every verse of the Gospels! It is, in fact, easier to find two consecutive verses in which these two manuscripts differ the one from the other , than two consecutive verses, in which they agree.

Undoubtedly these manuscripts suffer from scribal carelessness. Vaticanus exhibits numerous places where the scribe has written the same word or phrase twice in succession, a clear indication that the writing was not checked. The scribe of Sinaiticus occasionally skipped lines in copying and made so many obvious errors that during the time Sinaiticus was used, ten different readers noted corrections. However, instead of questioning the reliability of these manuscripts, scholars have accepted many of their peculiar readings. Sinaiticus and Vaticanus are the basis for most of the two hundred omissions from the modern New Testament versions.

For several years the Alexandrian Text was blindly accepted. But recent scholarship has confirmed that what has been restored should not be considered the original text, simply the text that had the highest authority in Alexandria, Egypt in the third century.

Alexandria, Egypt, an area to which none of the original manuscripts were addressed, has little claim upon our confidence as possessing a pure text. A look into the history of Alexandria, especially during the time these manuscripts are believed to have been produced, is quite revealing.

[Alexandria, a great center of commerce and Helenistic culture, was renowned for its schools of philosophy. Philosophical teachings permeated the community—including the Christian church. Christian “thinkers” regarded Greek philosophy as a tool for understanding and applying Scripture, and like the pagans around them, they started a school which became the main focus and stimulus of their intellectual and spiritual life. The leaders of the school were usually experts in Greek philosophy, and they greatly influenced the theology of the Christians in Alexandria. (source)]

One of the most notable leaders of this school was Origen. Origen studied deeply into Platonism and Stoicism, seeking to harmonize their philosophic principles with the Scriptures. To do so, he allegorized the Scriptures—a process that allowed him to interpret them any way he wished. Further, he questioned the authenticity of certain portions of Scripture that did not conform to his own idiosyncratic beliefs. His teachings not only promoted a critical attitude toward the Scriptures, but they helped breed numerous heresies in Alexandria, including the doctrine of Arianism. … The Arian controversy centered around the nature of Christ. The Arians taught that Christ was a created being….

[Constantine, the great mixer of paganism and Christianity, was emperor when the controversy began in A.D. 320. (source)]

Several scholars believe that Vaticanus and Sinaiticus were produced when Constantine ordered 50 Bibles to be prepared in AD 331. Vaticanus and Sinaiticus were both written on parchments of vellum by talented calligraphers, a very expensive specification included in Constantine’s order. …

[Constantine called upon Eusebius of Caesarea to be in charge of the preparation of the Bibles. Eusebius is well known as an enthusiastic admirer of Origen, and was inclined to favor the Arians. If such a one was in charge of preparing these manuscripts, it is no wonder the Critical Text—and consequently nearly every modern version—lacks fervent support for the deity of Christ. If Eusebius used any of the critical skills of his mentor, he was likely to dissect the Scriptures, thinking he was correcting them. This may explain some of the omissions characteristic of the Alexandrian Text and likewise of most modern versions. …

Whether through Eusebius, other misguided critics, or one of the countless heretics that Alexandria bred, 30 it is apparent that the Alexandrians’ attempt to “correct” the Scriptures failed. Within 200 years this text-type fell into discredit and disuse. 31 (source)]

It is also historically told us that the manuscripts ordered by Constantine were written in extreme haste. Repeatedly, Constantine urged Eusebius to press the project with all speed. Careful proof reading and correcting would be time consuming. …

[It is interesting to realize that several of the omissions and peculiar readings of Vaticanus and Sinaiticus were once found only in Roman Catholic Bibles. Dr. Benjamin G. Wilkinson, history professor and late president of Washington Missionary College, has proposed that Jerome, a great admirer of both Origen and Eusebius, transmitted many Eusebio-Origen errors into the Latin Vulgate. 32 The Latin Vulgate has been the recognized Bible of Catholics for centuries. The English Rheims-Douay version is translated from it. History is replete with episodes of violence wrought by the Catholic Church against all who did not receive the Latin Vulgate. To deny their Scriptures was to deny the Church’s self-appointed authority. When the modern versions began to appear with several readings previously propagated only in Catholic Bibles, Thomas S. Preston of St. Ann’s Church of New York was recorded in Dr. Warfields’ Collection of Opinions and Reviews as saying, “It is to us a gratification to find that in very many instances they have adopted the reading of the Catholic Version, and have thus by their scholarship confirmed the correctness of our [Catholic] Bible.” 33

In summary, we find that the Critical Text hardly fits the biblical description of the Sacred Text. It is based on a text-type that lay idle for 1,500 years except for some renderings retained within the Catholic Church. In addition, the text reflects the Arian views prominent in the fourth century in Alexandria, and it contains numerous omissions likely due to misguided editing and careless copying. (source)]

Now let’s examine where the Received Text comes from — the text upon which the KJV is based. Unlike the small number of manuscripts that support the Alexandrian Text, the Received Text is derived from the Byzantine text-type which is represented in 80 to 90 percent of all Greek manuscripts. That amounts to approximately 4000 witnesses! These representations of this text come from many different places — Greece, Constantinople, Asia Minor, Palestine, Syria, Alexandria, Africa, Italy, England, Ireland. This is quite a contrast to the limited locality and time range of the Alexandrian Text.

[Although none of the Greek manuscripts of the Byzantine text-type date before A.D. 400, most scholars agree that in order for this text-type to be so widespread and predominant among the Greek manuscripts, it had to have a much earlier existence. 36 Indeed, distinctive Byzantine readings are found in all of the oldest versions, 37 in the papyri, 38 and in the Scriptural quotations of the early church fathers. 39 In numerous places the Byzantine text-type can be shown to be as early or earlier than any text-type. 40 It was the authoritative Scriptures of the Syrian church, the Waldensian church of northern Italy, and the Greek Orthodox Church. Wilkinson’s study also suggests the Byzantine text-type was the Scriptures of such early churches as the Celtic church in Scotland and Ireland, and the Gallic church in southern France. 41 (source)]

You’re right. The last past in the KJV was added to it. Like it’s there to make Jesus more complicated that He really is. So actually the KJV is wrong. Thank you for disagreeing with him

      • And what is your evidence?

By the way, I just now expanded the article to show how the full version of Romans 8:1 totally fits with verses 2-19, many of which OSAS pastors also have to ignore in order to preach the once-saved-always-saved heresy that is sending so many to hell, keeping revival from happening (which is just real Christianity), and destroying the United States of America right before our eyes.

I agree. So I wonder if, because NIV is the number 1 selling Translation and KJV is number 2, that is why they always attack the NIV translation when really the KJV is the translation that is different from all the other translations, not just the NIV. It makes me wonder if the KJV is just trying to put down NIV so they can be the #1 selling translation. Just a thought, but I see no other explanation.

The KJV isn’t copyrighted at all, so anyone can publish it, and many do, so it can’t be a cash cow for any of them. It’s not the publishers pushing the KJV, but regular people who find fault with the NIV and other versions based on the Nestle Aland text are generally independent people and even pastors who are trying to warn the people about the horrible deletions from these “Bibles.”

There is also the KJV-only people (some say ‘cult’) who actually believe the KJV is an inspired, inerrant translation. So many can be quite obnoxious in how they treat those like myself who believe only the original autographs are inerrant. I’ve been unfriended more than once for simply stating that. And that is what cults do.

Many KJV-only people are not that extreme though, and are correct that the Nestle Aland based translations have omitted many key words and verses, and have changed many, almost always in the direction of watering down the meaning, so we now have a watered down gospel.

I disagree that the NIV is more accurate. The ancient Aramaic scripture is nearly the oldest and absolutely translated through fewer channels and ages. In my opinion, it qualifies the KJV and opposes the NIV. I personally feel that the ancient Aramaic translations are the most accurate of all, however. You can read it online for free at: http://www.v-a.com/bible/ but I think it’s better to buy your own copy.

Can we finish/perfect in the flesh what was started by the Spirit?
Paul just stated that he couldn’t. Neither can anyone else.
Jesus satisfied both sides of the Law coin.
1st Side: He worshipped God perfectly with all his heart, soul, mind & strength
    24/7 – 365 for 33 years. No one else could’ve done that.
2nd Side: “For the wages of sin is death” he took upon himself the eternal punishment required
for payment of sin, in our place. No one else could’ve done that.
God draws us, God gives us a measure of faith and God saves us by His grace through the faith He gave us when we heard the good news. God does it all!
Are we going to slip up from time to time? You betcha. Forgive us of our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
But thanks be to our Savior, we were 100% saved when we placed our faith in him and one day this corruptible will put on incorruptible.
It won’t be because we had to tow the spiritual line but because we are in Christ and there is now therefore no condemnation for anyone who can’t be perfect in this sin bent flesh.
To believe differently is to desert the true gospel for a no gospel that can not save.
We who are in Christ walk in the Spirit in as much as we have been transformed by the renewing of our minds or have matured in Him, some greater than others but each still 100% righteous in God’s eyes because of the great exchange!
We get Jesus robe of righteousness and our sin riddled robes were nailed to the cross.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved fully.

Can we finish/perfect in the flesh what was started by the Spirit?

No, we stay in the Spirit to finish what was started by the Spirit. Paul was warning the Galatians about the Judaizers, who were trying to get the Galatians to follow the works of the law and observe the old covenant holidays, etc.. Read further to see who Paul says will not go to heaven and who will in Galatians 5. Most ‘Christians,’ today, are in the wrong list.

Paul just stated that he couldn’t. Neither can anyone else.

Paul stayed in “no condemnation” by walking according to the Spirit, not according to the flesh. Did you read this entire post before commenting? Romans 8 is very clear.

Paul also made sure he was always right with everyone and God:

“Herein I also practice *always* having a conscience void of offense toward God and men.” (Acts 24:16)

1st Side: He worshipped God perfectly with all his heart, soul, mind & strength
      24/7 – 365 for 33 years. No one else could’ve done that.

No one is saying we have to. But our hearts must be pure and conscience clear when we see Jesus face to Face, or we’ll have our names removed from the Book of Life, which I show in my article, that totally refutes the prevailing perspective:

Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way | Who are the Children of God? — “There is therefore now *no condemnation* to those who are IN CHRIST Jesus, who don’t WALK according to the flesh, but ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT.”

“Only believe” was prophesied to happen. Once-saved-always-saved is a doctrine of demons and a fable:

“For The TIME WILL COME when THEY WILL NOT LISTEN to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves TEACHERS AFTER THEIR OWN LUSTS; and will TURN AWAY THEIR EARS FROM THE TRUTH, and turn aside to *FABLES*” (2 Tim. 4:3-4)

2nd Side: “For the wages of sin is death” he took upon himself the eternal punishment required
for payment of sin, in our place. No one else could’ve done that.

That’s true. We must be born-again, and then the Bible tells us we must abide in Him so His sap flows through us (His branches) so fruit is produced and remains. Otherwise, we’ll be cut off, thrown into the fire and burned = hell.

God draws us, God gives us a measure of faith and God saves us by His grace through the faith He gave us when we heard the good news. God does it all!

God enables us to overcome by His grace, and then we must then overcome. He does not do it all.

“Cleanse Ourselves?” — We both cleanse ourselves and Jesus Christ makes us clean. Do your part, without which God will not do His. | We must accept ALL of the Apostle’s Doctrine, not just selected verses. No Apostle ever wrote a verse to anyone. They wrote entire letters.

Are we going to slip up from time to time? You betcha. Forgive us of our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

“Slip up” or willfully sin? Big difference. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. Most ‘Christians’ today don’t shut the sin door and willfully sin without fully repenting, unlike Paul, who always made sure he was right with God and men. He lived in the “those who belong to Christ” list in Galatians 5.

But thanks be to our Savior, we were 100% saved when we placed our faith in him and one day this corruptible will put on incorruptible.

“100% saved” is a 100% lie. No scripture says that all we have to do is say a prayer and we’re in, but about 30 say we must overcome, such as this OSAS greatest hit verse:

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

It won’t be because we had to tow the spiritual line but because we are in Christ and there is now therefore no condemnation for anyone who can’t be perfect in this sin bent flesh.

And what is required to be in Christ? Did you even read this post? You are directly contradicting what Paul said in this Romans-8 text:

6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace….

To believe differently is to desert the true gospel for a no gospel that can not save.

To believe differently than what the New Testament really says is to desert the true gospel. I agree.

We who are in Christ walk in the Spirit in as much as we have been transformed by the renewing of our minds or have matured in Him, some greater than others but each still 100% righteous in God’s eyes because of the great exchange!

There is no condemnation only when we are walking according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh. Otherwise we are under condemnation.

No Condemnation NOW so No Condemnation when we meet Jesus face to FACE — Hearts pure, smiling so big!!! FREEeeeeeeee———–DOM!!!!!!!

We get Jesus robe of righteousness and our sin riddled robes were nailed to the cross.

And we only keep our robes of righteousness if our names are not removed from the Book of Life, because we overcame sin, by the blood, being dressed in white. Jesus said this, by the way:

Rev. 3:1 “And to the angel of the assembly in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars says these things: “I know your works, that you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake up, and keep the things that remain, which you were about to throw away, for I have found no works of yours perfected beforeGod. 3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If therefore you won’t watch, I will come as a thief, and you won’t know what hour I will come upon you. 4 Nevertheless you have a few names in Sardis that did not defile their garments. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes will be arrayed in white garments, and I will in no way blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved fully.

What does John 3:16 really say in context? Believe is not just a mental grasping of a concept. Believe is obeying Christ. It’s life in the Son.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. … 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God.” … 36 One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys [apeitheóthe Son won’t see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

Philippians 2:12 “Work out your salvation through fear and trembling.” ‘Trembling’ shows that fear is a lot more than ‘reverence,’ which is the common mis-teaching of the day.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.

We must remain in Him to have boldness on the day of judgment:

1 John 2:28 Now, little children, remain in him, that when he appears, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

1 John 4:16 We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. 17 In this[,] love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world.

  5. Look what the FLS (French Louis Segond) did to Daniel 3:5

    KJV:

“That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, HARP, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up” (Dan 3:5 KJV)

    FLS:

“Au moment où vous entendrez le son de la trompette, du chalumeau, de la GUITARE, de la sambuque, du psaltérion, de la cornemuse, et de toutes sortes d’instruments de musique, vous vous prosternerez et vous adorerez la statue d’or qu’a élevée le roi Nebucadnetsar.” (Dan 3:5 FLS)

They changed the harp into GUITAR! As if there were guitars in Daniel times. All this to justify their demonic rock music in the church!

    • That’s too much of a stretch, for sure; however, I don’t believe God has a problem with guitars in church as long as they’re played appropriately to glorify God from a pure heart, and the tone settings are appropriate, if it’s an electric.

But that most often doesn’t happen. Few worship leaders and musicians actually worship in Spirit and in truth. Most aren’t right with God and all people (Acts 24:16), but play anyway.

  6. Jeff, I am not a scholar, but read the word with the spirit. How do you know what God has a problem with. According to your own judgements above. This is why the church is divided. Because of arrogance that sees things of the spirit from ones perspective and opinion. For you to say that most worship leaders don’t worship in spirit and truth is judgement beyond your authority. You are a decisive voice that “kills” look that one up. I depend on Abba Father and the finished work that Jesus did at the cross. There is no sane or spiritual reason to continue condemnation even for imperfect believers. For we are not yet perfected, only living under grace. In all, believing what I see in your commentary., you have judged what Jesus already did in breaking the chains that bound us to the law. There is no condemnation is Christ Jesus, period. If so, the greatest act of love holds no value.

    • Tracey,

How do I know that most worship leaders don’t worship in spirit and in truth?

It’s usually obvious to me. I’m a worship leader who has led worship hundreds of times. I also have a strong discernment of spirits gift. And by their fruits we will know them. If there isn’t any anointing… — which is the case of most “worship” services today.

God gave us all different gifts so we could together, united, with Christ our Head (1 Cor. 12). Those who don’t have this type of gift wouldn’t know what it’s like to have it.

You say: “There is no condemnation is Christ Jesus, period.”

Did you even read this article you’re commenting on? You missed the whole point.

Many want to believe what they want to believe instead of what the Bible really says. I’m telling what the Bible really says.

There is only “no condemnation” to those “who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

“Those WHO BELONG TO CHRIST have CRUCIFIED the flesh with its passions and LUSTS.” (Gal. 5:24)

Regarding being perfected, you should read Ephesians 4:11-16. Most pastors today teach a different gospel. Instead of teaching whom we are to be, they spend much of their time convincing the people that they’re right with God when most aren’t right with God, including the pastors — and worship leaders.

I’m just saying it the way it is.

One thing I’ve been noticing for decades: these pastors who aren’t right with God and people (unlike Paul: “I also practice *always* having a conscience void of offense toward God and men.” – Acts 24:16) don’t like the real presence of God, because then they feel guilty. They feel condemnation. So they choose worship leaders who are showmen who don’t worship in spirit and in truth but put on a good show.

That’s what we have in most churches today now: shows.

      Jeff

  7. The problem with Rom. 8:1 is clearly the difference between the Received (Majority) Text and the
abbreviated (or “clipped”) rendering of the various eclectic translations. The missing portion
of 8:1 is reiterated in 8:9,13 but regrettably, of those pastors who quote the short version of 8:1,
I have never heard one quote 8:9,13 as a follow-up warning.

The use of 8:1 is almost always referred to as a means of giving assurance to the saints and rightly so — but if the qualifiers of 8:9,13 are never mentioned from the pulpit, it may produce a false assurance in those hearers who believe that they can sin with impunity because Christ’s propitiation covers all their sin – both confessed and repented transgressions but also secret sins that are cherished, held onto and never forsaken. We ought never to regard wilful sinning as acceptable to God and under Christ’s blood any more than OT believers could never regard wilful sinning as being under a blood sacrifice, noting that there was NO prescribed sacrifice for wilful sin under the Old Covenant.

    • Thanks, R.J.,

I agree, and it seems to me that misleading people in this way, that holiness is not required to go to heaven is utter cruelty. Multitudes have already died and are in hell right now, having been taught they would be in heaven without having to walk according to the Spirit.

Professors, pastors, teachers and others are twisting what Paul said. And almost all seem to be doing it.

They also teach the promise at the end of Romans 8 as applying to anyone who has been born-again, because of what Jesus did. “We don’t have to do anything.” But the promise clearly only applies to those who die having “no condemnation,” because they “walked according to the Spirit,” “put to death the deeds of the body,” “were led by the Spirit,” and “suffered with Christ.”

Paul gave all of these qualifications, yet pastors act as if they aren’t even in the text.

How can they be this willfully ignorant, especially when they know they’ll get a “stricter judgment?”

Really, really smart professors are doing the same. And they all seem to be okay with the Westcott and Hort altered “Bibles,” that have removed key texts like Romans 8:1b.

Do they want to please people this much that they completely ignore Paul’s clear description of what he meant in Romans 8:1a?

I know some pastors who know they can’t get to heaven if true holiness is required, because they refuse to get right with those they’ve hurt, being more afraid of what men think than what God thinks, so they seem to have “itching ears” themselves, to believe the road is wide and easy so they can get in without having to repent.

8:4b is actually the same as 8:1b, but they don’t care. They’ve shut their ears and their hearts….

I’m convinced a deception this great can only happen with demons in “Christians” hardening their hearts — James-3 curses: Pastors and others strongly praying that people believe what they say without questioning it, without being like the Bereans.

Very serious, and I believe this is cruel!

People need to speak out loudly, so this doesn’t continue.

Once-saved-always-saved is also destroying America and is keeping revival from happening.

      Jeff

      • There are many Bible verses that exhort for personal holiness. To suggest that holiness is not
an essential hallmark of one’s Christian testimony is absurd. We are called by God to strive for holiness. The verse that probably summarizes this truth best is Heb. 12:14 ” Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”

        • I wrote this in case you’re interested. For years, many read it, since I offered a large monetary reward, but I don’t know of any pastors who have changed their teaching and their lives (actually getting right with those they’ve hurt so ‘ONE’ can happen – John 17) to reflect the truth.

  8. Justin

this is unbelievably wrong. Where does grace come into play here? You have obviously been deceived by Lordship Theology…What about Romans 10:9-10? Or 1 John 2:1-2, or Ephesians 2:8-9? And it is because of how much we have been forgiven that we do not have to live according, but ought to live according to what we believe.
Please, do not deceive and use obvious fear tactics that make people question their salvation by wondering if they’ve done enough to receive eternal life. We have eternal life based on what Christ did on the cross — a big done, not what we have to do.
All in all, this whole thread is a big chain of legalism and lordship theology. Paul had harsh words for people like you — I saw you reference Galatians 5. Go back and read Galatians 3. Interesting how Paul says that we are Children of God through faith in verse 26.

    • Justin, you say:

“where does grace come into play here?”

      The Bible says:

“Follow after peace with all men, and the SANCTIFICATION without which no man will see the Lord, looking carefully lest there be any man who FALLS SHORT of the GRACE of God; lest any ROOT OF BITTERNESS springing up trouble you, and many be DEFILED by it.” – Hebrews 11:14-15

Grace is not a license to sin. We must overcome by God’s grace to not be cut off, thrown into the fire and burned (Jesus in John 15).

The meaning of “Grace” (χαρις) in the Bible: It’s not what you think? — ‘Grace’ is God giving us the Holy Spirit Who gives us the POWER TO OVERCOME SIN!

The once-saved-always-saved (OSAS) heresy was prophesied. This time has now come:

“For The TIME WILL COME when THEY WILL NOT LISTEN to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves TEACHERS AFTER THEIR OWN LUSTS; and will TURN AWAY THEIR EARS FROM THE TRUTH, and turn aside to *FABLES*” (2 Tim. 4:3-4)

    • Justin, you say:

I saw you reference Galatians 5. Go back and read Galatians 3. Interesting how Paul says that we are Children of God through faith in verse 26.

What does Paul mean by saying “The righteous will live by faith?

Let’s let Paul interpret Paul, and see what he has to say.

Paul generally wrote letters in a sequence: starting with an introduction, then the main body, a conclusion and final thoughts. The OSAS grace changers most often pull quotes from Paul’s introductions and mid points, while ignoring his clear conclusions. Instead of letting Paul interpret Paul, they pull quotes out of context, and broadcast them to the world as conclusions.

Paul was warning the Galatians about the Judaizers, who were trying to put the Galatians back under the law, instead of staying in the new covenant, where we now walk according to the Holy Spirit, Who was given at Pentecost. In chapter 3, he warns:

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who doesn’t continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11 Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, “The righteous will live by faith.”

      Chapter 4:

9 …now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, why do you turn back again to the weak and miserable elemental principles, to which you desire to be in bondage all over again? 10 You observe days, months, seasons, and years. 11 I am afraid for you, that I might have wasted my labor for you.

Paul concludes in chapters 5 and 6, explaining what he means by “The righteous will live by faith.”

Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. [the old covenant law]

Behold, I, Paul, tell you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will profit you nothing. Yes, I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. You are alienated from Christ, you who desire to be justified by the law. You have fallen away from grace. For we, through the Spirit, by faith wait for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision amounts to anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love.

You were running well! Who interfered with you that you should not obey the truth?

13 For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don’t use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you don’t consume one another. 16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one other, that you may not do the things that you desire. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Because of false grace teaching, sadly, most ‘Christians’ are now in this willfully sinning list:

19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, 21 envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Those who do belong to Christ and who will inherit…:

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit. …

6:7 Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that will he also reap. 8 For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

9 Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.

Nowhere in Galatians does Paul say it’s all about what Jesus did.

We’re only in Christ when we crucify our flesh and walk according to the Spirit, free from sinful passions and lust, by His grace.

    • Justin, you say:

      What about Romans 10:9-10?

What is Paul’s theme in Romans 10? Paul is shifting to the Jews. Can they be saved, having rejected Christ, keeping themselves still under the law? Some of the wording is similar to what Paul said in my previous comment above in Galatians.

1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved.

5 For Moses writes about the righteousness of the law, “The one who does them will live by them.” 6 But the righteousness which is of faith….

Verses 9-10 are a general statement of living by faith instead of by the works of the law. We must be born-again, Jesus said. Paul does not say anything here that nullifies what he said in Romans 8:

that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Being born-again is just the start. Paul does not say we can then willfully sin without repenting and still be saved. He just said in chapter 8 that we’re only “in Christ” if we walk according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh. “For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” 14 “For “as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.”

      Also:

JOHN 3:16: Greek word for ‘BELIEVE’ also means OBEY

Paul then says in Romans 11:

20 ..Don’t be conceited, but FEAR; 21 for if God didn’t spare the natural branches [the Jews], neither will he spare you. 22 See then the GOODNESS *and* SEVERITY of God. Toward those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, IF YOU CONTINUE in his goodness; OTHERWISE YOU WILL ALSO BE CUT OFF [like in Mt. 7:19 and John 15:6].

The OSAS grace changers only focus on the “goodness” of God, while completely ignoring His “severity” side, that absolutely still does apply to those who have been born-again if they don’t continue to abide in Christ by walking according to the Spirit.

Paul says to look at both sides of God’s personality, because the severity side will still applies to us if we don’t continue in His goodness, if we walk according to the flesh instead of according to the Holy Spirit.

The OSAS grace changers say the fear of God is now only ‘reverence,’ but Paul never said that. Paul said “work out your own salvation through fear and trembling.” He said “trembling” because we should be afraid of being cut off, to be then thrown into the fire and burned.

The fear of the Lord keeps us from sinning.

OSAS grace changers have removed the fear of the Lord, so most ‘Christians’ today let themselves willfully sin.

When Paul warned about works, he was warning about works of the law, not working out our salvation by obeying God, maintaining a clear conscience before God and men.

“Herein I also practice *ALWAYS* having a CONSCIENCE VOID OF OFFENSE toward God and MEN” (Acts 24:16).

      We should do the same.

    • Justin, you say:

      What about … 1 John 2:1-2…?

Why stop at verse 2? To understand what he’s saying, let’s read verses 1-6:

My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous. And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.

This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments. One who says, “I know him,” and doesn’t keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn’t in him. But whoever keeps his word, God’s love has most certainly been perfected in him. This is how we know that we are in him: he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked.

      1 John 4:

16 God is love, and HE WHO REMAINS IN LOVE remains in God, and GOD REMAINS IN HIM. 17 In this, love has been made perfect among us, that we may have BOLDNESS IN THE DAY of judgment, *because* AS HE IS, even SO ARE WE in this world.

If we remain in Christ, having clear consciences now, we’ll have clear consciences when we see see Jesus face to face.

There is only “no condemnation” to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

This is what my post says, which is not deception, but what the Bible clearly teaches.

The OSAS grace changers deceive when they say we can no longer be under ‘condemnation,’ but only ‘conviction.’ They twist the word of God teaching the opposite of what Paul taught.

If our consciences bother us now, they’ll really bother us when we see Jesus face to Face. Then it will be too late to repent.

    • Justin, you say:

      What about … Ephesians 2:8-9?

Paul was warning about works of the law again, instead of life in the Son, walking according to the Spirit. As I stated above, Paul said “work out your salvation with fear and trembling” (Php. 2:12), making sure we abide in Christ, not walking according the the flesh, but according to the Spirit, to have “no condemnation.”

What about Paul’s warning in Ephesians 5?

1 Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 Walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.

3 But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints; 4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks. 5 Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.

Let no one deceive you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.

The OSAS grace changers deceive the “children of disobedience” into thinking they can walk according to the flesh and still go to heaven.

Dozens of New Testament verses say we must overcome by God’s grace. Not one NT verse says we can die with unclean consciences and still have faith to enter heaven when we see Jesus face to Face.

  9. The following are verses quoted from the Epistle to the Romans (written to BELIEVERS – see 1:5-7)
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid.” Rom. 6:1,2a
“What then? shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, HIS SERVANTS YE ARE to whom ye obey; whether of SIN unto DEATH, or of OBEDIENCE unto RIGHTEOUSNESS.” Rom. 6:15,16
“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall DIE: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall LIVE.” Rom. 8:13
