Pornography Addiction a Growing Problem Among Women — “Afterwards I just hated myself for giving in and getting off on images that treated women like pieces of meat. But I kept going back”

Pornography Addiction a Growing Problem Among Women

“It was an ordinary weekday morning when Caroline first noticed how much pornography was taking over her life. With 15 minutes to go before she was due to leave for a job interview, she opened up her laptop to print off an extra copy of her C.V. and there, onscreen, was a grab she’d saved from [a porn site].

“’I remember the feeling of being sucked in, really wanting that two-minute fix, that numbness I got when I used porn,’ says Caroline. ‘I was stressed out, and I risked being late for my interview, but I pressed play anyway and fast-forwarded it to the bit I wanted. It took two minutes. … Afterwards I just hated myself for giving in and getting off on images that treated women like pieces of meat. But I kept going back.’”

Those are the opening paragraphs of a story from The Guardian called “Why More and More Women Are Using Pornography.” Revelations of female porn addiction are an eye-opening issue. Most people assume the problem is exclusive to testosterone-driven men. But a new study reveals that women are struggling with graphic sexual immorality in droves.

According to an October report from the Pew Research Center, 12 percent of U.S. adults who use the Internet admitted to watching “adult videos.” Twenty-five percent of them were male, and 8 percent were female.

Whether or not those numbers are accurate—it’s likely that many porn watchers didn’t admit it—they are rising. In 2007, only 6 percent admitted to watching adult videos. That means the overall rate has doubled in just six years.

But get this: Online porn viewership has quadrupled for women in just three years. A 2010 Pew report shows only 2 percent of women admitted to watching online porn. And again, it’s likely that the true numbers are even greater.

And that’s not the worst of it. CovenantEyes has gathered shocking statistics from various studies. Here are a few of them:

  • According to a study published in the Journal of Adolescent Research, about half (49 percent) of young adult women agree that viewing pornography is an acceptable way of expressing one’s sexuality.

John 3:16 Has Deceived Many!

This famous one verse, John 3:16, shown by itself over and over has DECEIVED MANY into thinking all we have to do is believe. But please read further what Jesus fully said. I also include what Jesus clearly says later in John 15 — which is usually, today, read (and sung) backwards — twisted into “never let go”:

John 3:

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. 18 He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed. 21 But HE WHO DOES THE TRUTH comes to the light, that his WORKS may be revealed, that they have been DONE IN GOD.”

John 15:

5 I am the vine. You are the branches. He who REMAINS IN ME, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 IF A MAN DOESN’T REMAIN IN ME, he is THROWN OUT as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

“Never let go” is a myth.

We must abide “in Him” — “that the world will know” (John 17)!

“Only believe” + “never let go” = DISASTER

Requirements For Eternal Life

Posted on October 2, 2012 by Dan Corner

This will be a strange teaching for many in our day, because there are so manyfalse teachers, who are wrongly teaching about this issue! The primary passage here to be focused in upon is Luke 9:23, but to better understand the meaning of that verse, the next two verses are also cited:take up your cross

Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?” (Luke 9:23-25)

The Lord Jesus (and his apostles) spoke the same salvation truth in different ways throughout his teachings. For example, it is found in John 3:16 conveyed in the meaning and present tense form of believe, the necessity to be born again (in John 3:3,5,7) for initial salvation, which begins a brand new life, etc. In Luke 9:23 he taught if we would come after eternal life (Jesus is eternal life in 1 John 1:2), then we must:

  • deny ourselves
  • take up our cross daily and
  • follow Jesus

Clearly Luke 9:24,25 show those are requirements for eternal life and nothing less! So Luke 9:23 is one of the many salvation teachings given by the Lord Jesus. Let’s take a closer look at his requirements.

Must Deny Himself

To deny ourselves to get eternal life, in part, means to crucify the flesh:

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. (Gal 5:24)

That means one will have to repent (turn from evil) to get eternal life in the first place. To deny ourselves also means that we will put God’s will before ours. We must put his word into practice (Luke 8:21). God becomes primary and we take a lesser role. This affects our ambitions, goals and priorities.

Must Take Up His Cross Daily

Back in Jesus’ day, when someone took up his cross he was carrying it to his own execution, as happened with Jesus himself at Calvary. In other words, to go after Jesus and eternal life could be deadly (and was for many over the centuries). We must be willing to die physically, if necessary, to have Jesus! If we disown him, he will disown us (Mt. 10:33; 2 Tim. 2:12). We are to do this daily!

Must Follow Jesus

To follow Jesus means that he is our focus. He is the one we are looking to and obeying over all others. He is the object of our faith and trust for salvation. Jesus described his sheep (the Christians) in John 10:27 as:

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

The next verse (John 10:28) explicitly shows again that following Jesus(continuous tense) is necessary for eternal life. That passage is, unfortunately, often cited as support for the heresy of once saved always saved and twisted to even include backsliders, who are NOT following Jesusanymore!

“There is more to forgiveness than meets the eye”

I haven’t gotten a long prophecy in long time, but I hear various things every day. Many are people to pray for; insight about what’s going on; etc.. “We can all hear and obey.”

I heard this about an hour ago. I’m not sure if it’s about us being forgiven, or what it takes to really forgiven and be free from the James-3 curses people wish on us, which is rampant, today.

Something to contemplate and ask God about.

10 Quotes to Rock Your World

Over the years, I have committed to memory numerous quotes that have stirred my heart and impacted my life, and in the days of the Brownsville Revival, we used to post some of the best, most succinct quotes on the large marquees in front our ministry school.

Today, with the explosion of social media, we can post and tweet these quotes day and night, to the edification and even transformation of many. Here are 10 of my all-time favorites:

[…]

2. “How shall I feel at the judgment, if multitudes of missed opportunities pass before me in full review, and all my excuses prove to be disguises of my cowardice and pride” (W.E. Sangster). …

3. “The man whose little sermon is ‘repent’ sets himself against his age, and will for the time being be battered mercilessly by the age whose moral tone he challenges. There is but one end for such a man—‘off with his head!’ You had better not try to preach repentance until you have pledged your head to heaven” (Joseph Parker). This quote was another of the jewels found in Why Revival Tarries, and it ultimately inspired Keith Green to write the song “I Pledge My Head to Heaven.” Are you really ready to preach repentance?

4. “When I really enjoy God I feel my desires of Him the more insatiable and my thirstings after holiness the more unquenchable. O this pleasing pain. It makes my soul press after God” (David Brainerd). People who are sick sometimes lose their appetite, and when the appetite returns, it is often a sign of health. The same applies spiritually. How hungry are you? That says a lot about your spiritual health.

5. “Satan is so much more in earnest than we are—he buys up the opportunity while we are wondering how much it will cost” (Amy Carmichael).

No Condemnation NOW so No Condemnation when we meet Jesus face to FACE — Hearts pure, smiling so big!!! FREEeeeeeeee———–DOM!!!!!!!

THE BOTTOM LINE

Today’s ‘Christianity’ doesn’t ring true, theologically or practically.

If we don’t feel right now we’re not going to feel right then, no matter what positive-encouragement K-LOVE sings 24/7.

Paul learned how to live free from condemnation. He actually did what he said all ‘Christians’ must do: “work out your own salvation through fear and trembling.” Paul always made sure he was right with God and all men:

“I also practice always having a conscience void of offense toward God and men” (Acts 24:16)

No Condemnation now so No Condemnation when we meet Jesus face to Face —

Hearts pure, smiling so big!!!

FREEeeeeeeee———–DOM!!!!!!!

“There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION to those who are IN CHRIST Jesus, who don’t WALK according to the flesh, but ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT.” (Romans 8:1)

If we have guilty consciences now, imagine how guilty we’ll feel when we meet Jesus face to Face.

How can we expect to be guilt-free then if we feel guilty now?

Nothing magical happens between now and then.

We don’t suddenly get clean then if we weren’t clean on earth.

We must be clean now so we’ll be clean then.

We need to be HOT now so we’re not LUKEWARM then — so Jesus won’t vomit us out of His mouth (Rev. 3:14-22).

We need to be OVERCOMERS now to have fought the good fight and be overcomers then — so our names will not be removed from the Book of Life (Rev. 3:1-6).

We need to be right with everyone in Christ now, to feel right now so we’ll get the thumbs up then, like Paul made sure he did:

I also practice ALWAYS having a conscience void of offense toward God and men.” (Acts 24:16)

Hearts pure now so hearts pure then.

Freedom now so FREEeeeeeeee———–DOM then!!!!!!!

When we willfully sin and therefore feel guilty, we must get right, so we’ll feel right now to feel right then.

Why do we think we can have guilty consciences now and Jesus will say “well done” and “enter…,” then?

God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. In this, love has been made perfect among us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, because as he is, even so are we in this world. (1 John 4:16,17)

Effects of the WELSH REVIVAL 1904-05: Whole communities were radically changed FROM DEPRAVITY TO GLORIOUS GOODNESS. The CRIME RATE dropped, often to nothing. THE UNDERGROUND MINES echoed with the sounds of PRAYER and HYMNS, instead of nasty jokes and gossip. People who had fallen out BECAME FRIENDS AGAIN!!!!!!!

My 1990 Key-to-Revival Prophecy: “There is might and there is power and there is glory, but it is being withheld until these relationships are made right, until we love our brother enough to…”

‘Christian’ admits he doesn’t want to “walk according to the Spirit” to be “in Christ” — “My heart sinks to think that I have to live a life pleasing to God ‘in the Spirit’ before I can be certain of my standing with God.”

It’s wonderful to see honesty instead of hedging. A man admitted this to a pastor:

“I am confused. Romans 8:1 tells me that the one in Christ Jesus is no longer under condemnation and yet when I read the King James Version, that is not the case. My heart sinks to think that I have to live a life pleasing to God “in the Spirit” before I can be certain of my standing with God. I can never look at my life for even a day and say I am fully walking “after the Spirit.” I have anxious thoughts and sin is sadly a daily reality in my life. I can really identify with Paul’s struggle against sin in Romans chapter 7. Yet it would seem that Paul’s whole message of justification by faith alone would be destroyed if the King James Version rendering of the Romans 8:1 verse is correct. What is going on? Can you provide any insight here?”

Sadly, with his response, the pastor put the man back to sleep spiritually, convincing the man he is absolutely secure in his sin, and that his “anxious thoughts” are conviction, not condemnation. All anyone has to do is let Paul interpret what he meant in verse 1 to see that his statement in verse 1 should not be abridged [and the NIV is based on the less reliable Egyptian texts – see first link, below].

Verses 4-17 IN EVERY TRANSLATION state the very same thing that Paul said in the KJV-etc. versions of verse 1. It’s as if pastors spend so much time talking and texting that they don’t carefully read the Bible anymore:

Romans 8:1-19 (WEB):

There is therefore now *no condemnation* to those who are *in Christ Jesus*, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the law couldn’t do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh; 4 that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace….

12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. 15 For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; 17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us. 19 For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.

Also, the ‘Christian’ who didn’t want to stop willfully sinning to go to heaven said his life was more like Paul’s in Romans 7, which was before Paul became born-again:

Leonard Ravenhill: Romans 7 vs 8 — Life before the Son vs Life in the Son — “Romans 7 is a funeral march, Romans 8 is a wedding march … it’s a Spirit dominated life in chapter 8.”

Romans 8:1 is FACT:

“There is therefore now *no condemnation* to those who are *in Christ Jesus*, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

We need to let Paul interpret Paul, reading the entirety of what Paul writes, instead of running with the greatest-hits, partial verses and phrases that are on signs during football games and are played 24/7 on positive, encouraging K-LOVE.

Mockers — Gal. 6:8,9 is a salvation passage few know about and it clearly reveals the once saved always saved proponents as mockers!

From: Eternal Life Blog (Dan Corner)

Mockers

According to the Bible, there are at least two types of mockers and neither is properly defined in a secular dictionary. For example the typical definition of a mocker is:

To treat with ridicule or contempt; deride. To mimic, as in sport or derision. See Synonyms at ridicule. (Free Online Dictionary)

The Mocker In Proverbs

[…]

The Mocker In Galatians

The mocker in the Book of Galatians attempts to mock God! He tries to mock God by thinking he will reap eternal life, instead of destruction, even though he is sowing to please his sinful nature:

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Gal 6:7-9)

Gal. 6:8,9 is a salvation passage few know about and it clearly reveals the once saved always saved proponents as mockers!  Such people actually think they can commit adultery, lie, steal, get drunk, swindle, etc. and still reap eternal life in the end because they were once saved. ALL eternal security advocates indirectly state this when they describe their twisted version of the sin unto death. As bad as it is to be the type of mocker described in Proverbs, the attempted God mocker seems to be worse and in our day is directly linked to the false gospel of eternal security and those deceived by it.

Lust — “According to Mt. 5:28,29, you will have to overcome lust in the heart to escape hell”

From: Eternal Life Blog (Dan Corner)

Lust

We live in a world of sin and deception. That includes the church world, which is supposed to be the pillar and foundation of the truth (1 Tim. 3:15), but isn’t in our day! The sin of adultery, caused by illegitimate marriages and lust, is especially rampant. Because of the prevalence of pornography, lust is so commonplace that I have had various professing Christians unashamedly admit to me that they lust all the time, yet the same also profess to have eternal salvation and eternal life as once saved always saved proponents! Jesus addressed the lust issue and its seriousness in Mt. 5:28,29:

But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown intohell.

God’s eternal truth is obvious. Lust in the heart is adultery and will take one to hell. Hence, it is impossible to be a Christian and have a lust bondage at the same time.

‘IF’ Is Conditional — Since ‘if’ is the badge of a conditional statement, then the believer’s security is clearly conditional

From: eternallifeblog.com/2011/12/02/conditional-security (Dan Corner)

IF Is Conditional

The controversy about the believer’s security is immediately ended by observing the various Bible passages related to eternal life that contain the little word “if”. Since if is the badge of a conditional statement, then the believer’s security is clearly conditional and not unconditional with such evidence. Here are the eternal facts, like it or not:

By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. (1 Cor 15:2)

The one and only Christian “gospel” shouts out a conditional security for the believer. It is another gospel which denies that. As clear as that is, the following verses also supplement that gospel truth with more insights by saying the Christian must hold firmly till the end to share in Christ, etc.:

We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. (Heb 3:14)

For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, (Rom 8:13)

See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what he promised us–even eternal life. (1 John 2:24,25)

About a dozen other Scriptures could also be cited, but those four suffice to prove thatthe believer’s security held out in the Christian gospel is conditional, that us sharing in Christ is conditional, that the Christian experiencing spiritual death or not is conditional, and us remaining in Christ and having eternal life is also conditional. It doesn’t get any better than that as far as clarity!

Any person open to the truth of Scripture can verify those facts for themselves. The conclusion, though disturbing to many, is a conditional security for the believer. That means there is no once saved always saved or eternal security, since all those spiritually lethal things can occur and can therefore interfere with final salvation and inheriting eternal life (Gal. 6:8,9).

Another Gospel — ANOTHER GOSPEL equals a FALSE GOSPEL or a gospel different from the real one. Dan Corner believes ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED is THE WORST.

From: eternallifeblog.com/2011/11/11/gospel (Dan Corner)

Another Gospel

Another gospel is the same as a false gospel or a gospel different from the one and only real one. Another gospel can be a popular teaching or one which is little known, but regardless, it claims to be the gospel of Jesus Christ, yet is counterfeit and therefore dangerous to SOULS. Another gospel is presented, even to Christians, as the real plan of salvation found in the Bible, but is demonically misrepresenting the truth of God and eternal life. In Paul’s day, it misled true Christians in the region of Galatia away from God and back into spiritual death as the victims fell from grace (Gal. 5:2-4). Paul furiously fought another gospel:

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. (Gal 1:6,7, KJV)

Paul defended the true gospel and warned against the false in the strongest terms:

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. (Gal 1:8-10)

The gospel message must be accurate to bring about new creations in Christ. If not, it will be just another powerless gospel devoid of transforming power. Hence, one can go to hell just for preaching a false gospel and Paul knew that applied to him! All of the false religions preach another gospel – from Catholicism to Jehovah’s Witnesses toUniversalism, and the list goes on.

One false gospel out shines all the others though. It is once saved always saved. Again, once saved always saved is another gospel. It teaches the Christian has salvation in wickedness, minimizes and/or dismisses living holy in our day, misrepresents a conditional salvation and has spread like gangrene. Multitudes are in fiery torment at this moment because of this license for immorality. So, what is the gospel of Jesus Christ? Ponder especially 1 Cor. 15:1-4; Acts 20:21; 26:20; etc. It is a matter of eternal life or eternal death to know the truth from another gospel. God bless you.

Hate Evil — Sin is much more serious than any potentially deadly thing in the natural because it can send you to the lake of fire for eternity

From: eternallifeblog.com/2011/11/06/hate-evil (Dan Corner)

Hate Evil

All throughout the Bible we are encouraged to fear the LORD, but what does that mean? One verse especially tells us what it is. To some it will come as a surprise:

To fear the LORD is to hate evil…. (Prov 8:13)

If you really fear the LORD you hate evil. Most know what hate is, but what could be included in evil, besides the obvious sin? The Bible says falsehood. That too may surprise some but it magnifies the supreme importance of truth, the opposite offalsehood:

The righteous hate what is false…. (Prov 13:5)

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. (1 Cor 13:6)

Christians are to fear God and show it by hating sin and falsehood. Now that we have established that, let me again draw your attention to the word hate. If you hate evil, you are not neutral about it. Instead you will be repulsed, annoyed, troubled and bothered by it. Christians love God’s truth, but hate evil, including what is false. That should describe you. Do you hate false doctrine regarding salvation, especially once saved always saved? You should be hating eternal security, since it is so diabolical. Perhaps, you aren’t even sure what the truth is, yet think you are a solid Christian. If you don’t know what is true, you can’t hate what is false. If you can’t do that you aren’t fearing the LORD, as you might have thought!

Things which are obvious sin should be hated. This should be clear, but do you reallyhate wickedness? Sins such as listed in 1 Cor. 6:9,10; Rev. 21:8; Gal. 5:19-21; etc arespiritual poison which ruin lives here and send souls to eternal torment after death. They must be hated and avoided, even more than dangerous things in the natural. In fact, sin is much more serious than any potentially deadly thing in the natural because it can send you to the lake of fire for eternity. Hate evil.

“Jesus Loves You” Deception — If you have been randomly telling people Jesus loves you, CAREFULLY explain his unique love or DON’T TELL PEOPLE THAT. It is DECEPTIVE!

From: Eternal Life Blog (Dan Corner)

Jesus Loves You Deception

How often we have all read or heard others tell another, Jesus loves you. While it is a definite truth that God loves even the unsaved (John 3:16; Mark 10:21; etc.), which is anti Calvinism, one can never find that form of evangelism in the book of Acts.

[…]

What unsaved people need to know is, God’s love is totally unlike ours plus he also loves justice (Psalm 11:6,7). He will send a person he loves to hell because that person is not pure in heart(Mt. 5:8).

If you have been randomly telling people Jesus loves you, carefully explain his unique love or don’t tell people that. Why not simply stick to the Scriptures and tell unsaved people the Biblical message for salvation—repentance towards God and faith in Christ Jesus (Acts 20:21)? Tell them to prove their repentance by their deeds (Acts 26:20) and don’t forget to give the salvation facts, as stated in 1Cor. 6:9-11:

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. (NASB)

Since the real gospel contains a conditional security for the believer (1 Cor. 15:2; etc.), don’t forget to tell them they must endure to the end to enter God’s kingdom (Mt. 10:22; Heb. 3:14; etc.).

The Pleasures Of Sin For A Short Time — Moses was a noteworthy EXAMPLE OF FAITH. He REJECTED the PLEASURES OF SIN and chose MISTREATMENT with the people of God

From: Eternal Life Blog (Dan Corner)

The Pleasures Of Sin For A Short Time

As strange as it may seem, the Bible actually teaches sin has pleasure in it (for a SHORT TIME)! Of course, there are also the pain and remorse, as well as the inescapable deadening effects afterwards (James 1:14-16). Isn’t it true that for the devil (the enemy of your SOUL) to legitimately tempt a person to sin, it would have to have some kind of draw and allurement for the person being tempted. That, however, doesn’t mean that one must yield to temptation (1 Cor. 10:13). Notice the following passage and the listed details about Moses:

By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. (Heb 11:24-26)

Michael Brown: Confronting the Error of Hyper-Grace

Confronting the Error of Hyper-Grace

Michael Brown

The biblical message of grace is wonderful, glorious and life-transforming. We can’t live without it for one second of our lives. But there is a message being preached today in the name of a new grace reformation, mixing powerful truth with dangerous error. I call it hyper-grace.

One of the foundational doctrines of the hyper-grace message is that God does not see the sins of his children, since we have already been made righteous by the blood of Jesus and since all of our sins, past, present and future, have already been forgiven.

That means that the Holy Spirit never convicts believers of sin, that believers never need to confess their sins to God, and that believers never need to repent of their sins, since God sees them as perfect in his sight.

It is easy to see how such teaching can be dangerous, especially to a believer being tempted to compromise.

One hyper-grace teacher wrote this: “When God looks at me, He doesn’t see me through the blood of Christ, He sees me—cleansed! Likewise, He sees us as holy and righteous. He sees us, and He loves what He sees!”

Really? Always? 24-7? God always loves what he sees when he looks at his people?

Yes, he loves us, but does he always love what he sees?

Did Jesus love what he saw when he rebuked five out of seven congregations in Asia Minor in Revelation 2-3? Did Paul, writing on behalf of the Lord, love what he saw when he warned the Galatians that they had fallen from grace and become trapped in legalism? Did James, also writing as a servant of the Lord, love what he saw when he rebuked his readers for being “friends of the world” and “adulterers and adulteresses”?

A.W. TOZER PROPHECY – From 50 Years Ago

Let me go out on a limb a little bit and prophesy. I see the time coming when all the holy men whose eyes have been opened by the Holy Spirit will desert worldly Evangelicalism, one by one. The house will be left desolate and there will not be a man of God, a man in whom the Holy Spirit dwells, left among them…

I hear Jesus saying… Mat 23:37-38:

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to her, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not! Behold, your house is left to you desolate.”

As the Church now stands, the man who sees this condition of worldly evangelicalism is written off as somewhat fanatical. But the day is coming when the house will be left desolate and there will not be a man of God among them. I would like to live long enough to watch this develop and see how things turn out. I would like to live to see the time when the men and woman of God – holy, separated and spiritually enlightened – walk out of the evangelical church and form a group of their own; when they get off the sinking ship and let her go down in the brackish and worldliness and form a new ark to ride out the storm.

For now, I’ve decided to leave the full version of Romans 8:1 in the title, because the gutted NIV/K-LOVE version is being broadcasted across the land, 24/7.

I added Luther’s Eureka moment text, “the just shall live by faith” from Romans 1 (which is also in Hebrews 10, where the context is clear), as well as Paul’s sowing and reaping text that soon follows in Romans 2.

In Revelation 3, I recently added the parallel between having one’s name blotted out from the Book of Life for not overcoming (church of Sardis) and being vomited out of Jesus’ mouth for being lukewarm (church of Laodicea).

Do We Sin Every Day or Sin All The Time?

From: Eternal Life Blog (Dan Corner)

Do We Sin Every Day or Sin All The Time?

How distressing it is to hear a professing Christian nonchalantly say he sins all the time or sins every day! Such a person is a victim, held captive and duped by the popular security in sin, counterfeit grace, false gospel of once saved always saved, which has sent multitudes of once regenerated people to hell. After a solid indoctrination into that license to sin theology, the proponents are practically ruined spiritually with no fear of God, no fear of the dangers of sin or hell and basically disinterested and unable to discuss the things of God with a real Christian. Of course, they continue to believe they have awaiting them a sure arrival into Paradise and God’s holy loving presence as they openly admit they sin every day and all the time!

Unwittingly, the sad and deceived victims of the sin every day (or we sin all the time) belief are saying that it is impossible for them or anyone to obey God, for if one did obey God then he would not sin all the time! They are also indirectly admitting they are slaves to sin by saying they sin every day or sin all the time, but also think they are Christians who possess eternal life, which is violently antithetical to Biblical Christianity. They have no awareness of the basic radical changes that exist when one becomes a Christian:

But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life (Rom. 6:22)

The sin every day and sin all the time people have no clue that only the OBEDIENT have eternal salvation (Heb. 5:9)….

Unequally Yoked: “I have observed that loneliness is one of the chief reasons why some jeopardize their eternal life”

The main thing is to be Spirit-led in our relationships — which means spiritual compromise for the sake of a relationship is not an option for a true believer.

I wouldn’t be as dogmatic as Dan is here, but this is a good balancing word. The days are evil. We must be careful.

From: Eternal Life Blog (probably Dan Corner)

Unequally Yoked

The command and safeguard to be separate from unbelievers and not be unequally yoked with them is vital. For a Christian to have close dealings with any unbeliever as in a business, marriage or even a friendship is to open himself up for spiritual death and hell, besides being irrational. It’s irrational, for there is no fellowship between the child of the devil and the child of God, NONE. One is darkness and likened to the temple of idols, and one is light and the temple of God. There is as much harmony between the two as there is between the Lord Jesus and Belial, another name for the devil (2 Cor. 6:14-16) !

A definite example of how a righteous man became unrighteous through being unequally yoked is Solomon. With him it was his pagan wives, which he held fast to in love. He became an idolater like them! NOTE: Solomon got contaminated and became like them instead of the reverse! This is important for those who are self-deceived and think for evangelism reasons they need to associate closely with some unbeliever. This is a powerful refutation to the so-called friendship evangelism of our dark hour.

I have observed that loneliness is one of the chief reasons why some jeopardize their eternal life. They risk eternal life for the sake of friends to pal around with or for a marriage. Hence, you must remain guarded, especially if you are a Christian single. With all of this in mind we read:

Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. (2 Cor 6:17,18)

[SNIP] Later expeditions also located what appears to be Noah’s first home after the flood and the grave sites of Mr. and Mrs. Noah. The graves were evidenced by petroglyphs on the large tombstones. These were within ~5 miles of the Ark. Unfortunately, the graves were subsequently exhumed by grave robbers. The Turkish government later reported that a bodice that Mrs. Noah was wearing, which was covered with large precious stones, was sold on the Turkish black market for around $75 million. One of the burial crypts was later recovered and is in a back room of a museum in Ankara, Turkey. It is 18 feet long! Enormous human bones appeared in some of the hotels in the area soon after the graves were robbed. The size of the bones suggests that the Antediluvians were between 12-15 feet tall! [SNIP]

[SNIP] Excerpt from Life magazine…
“While routinely examining aerial photos of his country, a Turkish army captain suddenly gaped at the picture shown above. There, on a mountain 20 miles south of Mt. Ararat, the biblical landfall of Noah’s Ark, was a boat-shaped form about 500 feet long. The captain passed on the word. Soon an expedition including American scientists set out for the site.

At 7,000 feet, in the midst of crevasses and landslide debris, the explorers found a clear, grassy area shaped like a ship and rimmed with steep, packed-earth sides. Its dimensions are close to those given in Genesis: ‘The length of the ark shall be 300 cubits, the breadth of it 50 cubits, and the height of it 30 cubits,’ that is, 450x75x45 feet. A quick two-day survey revealed no sign that the object was man made. Yet a scientist in the group says nothing in nature could create such a symmetrical shape. A thorough excavation may be made another year to solve the mystery.” [SNIP]

Pornography (wma)

Pornography (pdf)

In the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord Jesus must have shocked the people of His day when He equated lust to ADULTERY! His actual words about lust being adultery are:

“But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed ADULTERY with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into HELL.”

Please note the serious consequences of lust (mental adultery). According to Jesus, it’s possible to end up in Hell over lust! Therefore, the sin of lust must not be taken lightly, as many church people do.

lust in the heart is adulteryWhile driving down the road and listening to a teaching, my wife and I heard a prime example of taking lust far too lightly. The following dialog transpired between a phone caller [Archie] and the host [Gil] after the host presented a hypothetical situation involving lusting over a woman while driving. This is what Archie referred to when he told Gil that he used his “example of driving in the car.”

Archie: “Gil, you used my example of driving in the car.”

Gil: “Oh, so you been looking at [lusting after] women, too, huh?”

Archie: “Oh, yeah, all the time.”

Gil: [an outburst of laughter].

The chief aim of this article is to provide the sobering facts regarding “lust,” as used in Matthew 5:28. While some downplay the serious consequences of lust and mental adultery, others wrongly think the slightest and quickest visual contact on another’s body is always adultery. The latter will be greatly relieved to learn this is not so! Similarly, remember this: Temptation in itself is not a sin. Jesus was tempted (Heb. 2:18; 4:15), yet Jesus never sinned (2 Cor. 5:21). Therefore, temptation is not a sin. It only becomes a sin when you yield to it.

The Greek word rendered “lustfully” (Matt. 5:28, NIV) is found elsewhere and translated in such a way as to help us know the lust the Lord equated to mental adultery. This same exact word is found in Lk. 15:16 and Lk. 16:21. It’s also significant to note that Jesus gave us these other usages. Hence, he chose to use the same exact word in these other teachings as he chose to use in Matt. 5:28! Respectfully, those verses say:

He [the Prodigal] longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

And [Lazarus was] longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

The facts surrounding the sad circumstances of the Prodigal Son and Lazarus, two other places where Jesus also used the word rendered “lustfully” as mentioned in Matt. 5:28, help us to better understand its meaning. Regarding its usage by the Lord in Luke’s gospel, it seems evident that this word carries a meaning with it that makes it much deeper than just a casual glance at a woman, as some wrongly think. To substantiate this, Strong’s Concordance defines this word as “to set the heart upon, i.e. long for” (emphasis his, Greek Dictionary, p.31, no. 1937).

Eph.5:3-5 includes lust

Again, a casual glance at the opposite sex is not the lust in the heart being referred to in Matt. 5:28. However, when actual lust does occur, that is, when one “longs for” another, then adultery is actually committed! To deny that it is adultery is to indirectly doubt the Lordship of Jesus Christ! This also clearly refutes the statement I’ve often heard — “It’s okay to look [meaning lust], but not to touch.” Jesus never taught lust was okay! Nowhere is this form of adultery through lust, though solely mental, less serious than other forms, although many treat it as such! Remember, Jesus said it can send one to Hell (Matt. 5:29)! Could He be wrong?

How awesome to ponder this fact in regard to all of the pornographic literature that can be found in this country, which generates lust. Mental adultery is rampant! Truly, this is an “adulterous generation,” as Jesus said.

Recently, while waiting to see someone with whom I had an appointment, his office radio was tuned in to a secular station which had a “Penthouse Pet” on as a guest. This woman posed 60 times for Penthouse magazine, yet was hailed as some great celebrity and heroine. She showed no remorse for those sinful acts. Only on Judgment Day will it be revealed how many millions of men committed adultery through lust with that whorish woman. What a fine servant Satan has in that woman, who shamefully is the envy of many women in our country!

Men committing mental adultery through lust should also be a sobering thought for women who profess to be Christian and desire to please their Lord. Paul wrote that women are to dress “modestly” (1 Tim. 2:9), yet at the same time, Paul was a grace teacher in the truest sense. So this isn’t “law” as some accuse, but simple obedience! To disregard the way you dress might possibly be stumbling another into adultery! (The same applies to a man and his dress, for women can lust too.) Read what Jesus said in Matt. 18:6 about stumbling another into sin and marvel at this! Furthermore, regarding this whole matter of mental adultery, a woman who dresses with the intent to make men lust after her is on a par with a prostitute!

In our generation, TV is the prime way people lust and commit mental adultery. Even while watching the news report sometimes one is exposed to spiritually unwholesome scenes, which the devil is pleased to present. These spiritual pollutants flood into homes across our land, then people wonder why they are having trouble with lust! I personally believe that more adultery is committed before the TV set through lust than anywhere else!

Furthermore, it’s a sad day when people who profess to be God’s servants are ensnared by their TV as their precious free time is spent never to be regained! Our generation will have to account for this incredible waste of time at the Judgment. Please note I mentioned “our generation” since television has only been available commercially since just after World War II. (TV as a means of distraction and sexual temptation, is something which the Twelve never had. Moreover, there will be no TV’s in Heaven!) Remember this: Before the invention of TV, Christians got along fine without ever watching it! You can too! In fact, since my wife and I stopped watching all secular TV of any kind, including the Super Bowl, we get along much better without it! By this I mean we have much more time to labor for the Kingdom in one form or another besides the other advantages of not being tempted to lust or adopt the world’s values in the first place.

If you are having trouble with lust (and mental adultery) or know someone who is, the remedy, in part, is to cut off the source of temptation! It’s that simple. If literature is the lust temptation, then stop going near it. If it’s TV or movies, stop watching them. This is what you are to STOP doing. Paul wrote: “Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature” (Rom. 13:14). Also, remember sinful desires such as lust (adultery) are warring against your soul (1 Pet. 2:11). You must war back or be conquered. A fight is a fight and not a “bed of roses”!

Furthermore, to get victory over lust, you should START spending more time in the Bible meditating on and memorizing certain verses! Hiding God’s word in your heart will stop those mental temptations.

The unnamed writer of Ps. 119 both prayed and hid God’s word in his heart so he would not sin against God: “Do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Ps. 119:10,11). We all need to humbly follow this example.

In summary, victory over sin (including lust) is not just what you do but also what you don’t do! In other words, starve your sinful nature (by not thinking about how to gratify it) and feed your spirit with God’s word (by meditating in Scripture). Your voluntary thoughts, that is, the thoughts you choose to ponder when free to think about anything you want, are extremely important. Relevantly, Rom. 8:5 says, “Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” The following poem states it beautifully.

Two natures beat within my breast.
The one is cursed, the other is blessed.
The one I love, the other I hate.
The one I feed will dominate!

Similarly, Paul wrote, “The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life” (Gal. 6:8).

In the Old Testament, we also read of lust in passages like Prov. 6:25,26: “Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes, for the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread, and the adulteress preys upon your very life.” Again, lust leads to disaster! Therefore, do not take this sin lightly.

By the way, the word rendered “lustfully” in Matt. 5:28 is used in a good sense in 1 Tim. 3:1 and Heb. 6:11. This latter verse reads: “And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end”

Unlike the Calvinists, Paul emphasized free will and human responsibility. (He did this without contradicting his own grace message.) He wrote, “Keep yourself pure” (1 Tim. 5:22). Undoubtedly, many will have to make MAJOR TV changes to obey this command! Victory over TV and lust will benefit you and others in this life and throughout eternity, but get ready for the battle regarding it!

Job was the most unique man on earth in his day — being blameless, upright, a man that feared God and shunned evil (Job 1:8). This man said of himself, “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl” (31:1). This is also very important in our day in light of Matt. 5:28,29 and the rampancy of pornographic literature, movies and commercials in our vile country, which generates lust.

Paul wrote, “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry” (Col. 3:5). Please note: it’s your responsibility coupled with the power of God (Rom. 8:13) that is the victory over lust.

It might surprise some to learn that Jesus used the Greek word from which we get our word “pornography” in Rev. 22:15, and stated that along with some others, such are “outside” the city of New Jerusalem. (In that verse, the word is rendered “the sexually immoral,” NIV.) If we compare Rev. 21:8 to this same verse, we know their specific location is clearly the lake of fire!

John MacArthur Gets Dan Corner’s Skull and Crossbones Award | John MacArthur To The ‘Adulterously’ Married

John MacArthur doesn’t only teach the once-saved-always-saved deception (which Dan reveals here), but also cessation, and is currently loudly criticizing those who desire to be led by the Holy Spirit:

John MacArthur’s war against the Holy Spirit’s gifts, including hearing God’s voice! — Whereas once-saved-always-saved is the culprit (which he also teaches), and division: My 1990 Key-to-Revival Prophecy: “There is might and there is power and there is glory, but it is being withheld until these relationships are made right, until we love our brother enough to…”

Dan also discusses what MacArthur wrongly says to the adulterously married, which I have discussed here:

Calvinist, John MacArthur gets the Skull and Crossbones Award for changing the grace of God into a “license for immorality” (Jude 4) with the following statements:

Yes, someone says, but can’t Christians put themselves outside God’s grace? What about those who commit abominable sins? Don’t they nullify the work of redemption in themselves? Don’t they forfeit the love of God? Certainly notit’s preposterous to think that we can forfeit it [salvation] by anything we do. (John MacArthur, Jr., The Love of God, Word Publishing, 1996, p. 159, emphasis mine)

Believers will often fall into sin, but their sin is not more powerful than God’s grace. (John MacArthur, Jr., Saved Without A Doubt, Chariot Victor Publishing, 1982, p. 45, emphasis mine)

NOTE: As Charles Stanley teaches, You cannot outsin the grace of God, John MacArthur teaches EXACTLY the same way! In fact, John MacArthur teaches WORSE by also saying believers often fall into sin. Don’t misinderstand John MacArthur’s doctrine. He teaches a license to sin as a Calvinist. The above is clear proof, but there is even more. In his so-called “Study Bible” under his comments on 1 Cor. 6:9-11, John MacArthur comments:

Some who used to have those patterns of sinful life were falling into those old sins again, and needed reminding that if they went all the way back to live as they used to they were not going to inherit eternal salvation, because it would indicate that they never were saved (The MacArthur Study Bible, 1997, p. 1736)

NOTE: The listing of sins in 1 Cor. 6:9,10 identifies the unrighteous, not believers, but John MacArthur shockingly declares that a true Christian can commit ALL of those sins! However, the true Christian can’t go all the way back as before, for that would prove he was never really saved after all, according to John MacArthur. If he stops short, ever so slightly, from going all the way back, his salvation is real even though he is in those vile sins! That is not holiness! Here is the listing of sins that John MacArthur commented on:

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. (1 Cor. 6:9-11, NASB)

The Sovereign God who perfectly understands grace disagrees with John MacArthur. Rev. 21:8 is a clear passage which God spoke from His throne about who will NOT enter His kingdom. The Apostle Paul, the real grace teacher, gives us other Holy Spirit inspired lists in 1 Cor. 6:9,10; Eph. 5:5-7; Gal. 5:19-21; etc. Who will YOU believe? Also, please note: John MacArthur, known for “Lordship” theology, teaches the same as Charles Stanley and Charles Ryrie on the believer’s security!

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars — their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death (Rev. 21:8).

For of this you can be SURE: No immoral, impure or greedy person — such a man is an idolater — has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient (Eph. 5:5,6).

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God (Gal. 5:19-21).

John MacArthur To The Adulterously Married

Under the subheading of Those That Are Illegitimately Divorced and Remarried John MacArthur teaches the obscene:

Now, there is only one other category. Some of you are saying, “I have a problem. I fouled up my marriage when I was a Christian and got a divorce that wasn’t legitimate. Furthermore, I am an adulterer (or an adulteress), because I remarried when I had no grounds. What is my status?” Well, you’re a sinner – welcome to the club. If you’ve already violated God’s laws as a Christian and you were illegitimately divorced and remarried (in other words, you’re in a union that the Bible defines as an adulterous union), you have only one recourse – to confess the sin, tell God the sorrow of your heart, and stay in that same union … (John MacArthur, Jr., On Divorce, Moody Press Edition, 1985, Chicago, p. 98, emphasis mine)

That is clear proof that John MacArthur is saying they would be lifestyle practicing adulterers, which he denies is possible at other times. Furthermore, he doesn’t say such lifestyle practicing adulterous people were false converts, but consoles them by welcoming them into the club of sinners! Moreover, he tells such adulterers to just tell God they are sorry and confess their adultery! According to John MacArthur, no turning away from their adultery (repentance) is needed for their forgiveness. John MacArthur’s teaching, therefore, is a poison-filled wicked abomination. BTW, the mere fact that John MacArthur denies King David lost his salvation when in adultery and murder should be enough to prove John MacArthur has a skewed understanding of Scripture.

WARNING! Dear reader, for your soul’s sake avoid John MacArthur’s Calvinistic version of saving faith. It is NOT the message of the Bible! John MacArthur needs to take to heart the compelling evidence found in The Believer’s Conditional Security, repent of his dangerous false teachings, and openly renounce his Calvinistic doctrines! Eternal Security is not true.

10 Misconceptions about the NT Canon: #10: “Athanasius’ Festal Letter (367 A.D.) is the First Complete List of New Testament Books”

Note: this is the tenth and final installment of a blog series announced here.  The full series can be found here.

When it comes to the study of the New Testament canon, few questions have received more attention than the canon’s date.  When did we have a New Testament canon?  Well, it depends on what one means by “New Testament canon.”   If one is simply asking when (some of) these books came to be regarded as Scripture, then we can say that happened at a very early time.  But, if one is asking when we see these books, and only these books, occur in some sort of list, then that did not happen until the fourth century.  To establish this fourth-century date, most scholars will appeal to the well-known canonical list of Athanasius, included in his Festal Letter in 367 A.D.

But, is Athanasius really the first complete New Testament list?  Despite the repeated claims that he is, we have a list by Origen more than a century earlier (c.250), that seems to include all 27 books.  Origen, in his Homilies on Joshua, writes:

So too our Lord Jesus Christ…sent his apostles as priests carrying well-wrought trumpets.  First Matthew sounded the priestly trumpet in his Gospel, Mark also, and Luke, and John, each gave forth a strain on their priestly trumpets.  Peter moreover sounds with the two trumpets of his Epistles; James also and Jude.  Still the number is incomplete, and John gives forth the trumpet sound through his Epistles [and Apocalypse]; and Luke while describing the deeds of the apostles.  Latest of all, moreover, that one comes who said, “I think that God has set us forth as the apostles last of all” (1 Cor 4:9), and thundering on the fourteen trumpets of his Epistles he threw down, even to their very foundations, the wall of Jericho, that is to say, all the instruments of idolatry and the dogmas of the philosophers.[1]

This is a fascinating passage.  A reasonable interpretation of Origen’s words would leave us with a list of 27 books (he obviously puts the book of Hebrews with Paul’s letters).  There is the question of whether the book of Revelation was original to this list—some manuscripts have it, some do not. …

This language suggests not only that Origen had a 27 book canon, but that, in his mind at least, that canon was closed.

10 Misconceptions About the NT Canon: #4: “Books Were Not Regarded as Scripture Until Around 200 AD”

Jesus’ statements in ‘Revelation’ support the apostles’ NT church life teaching and also present a balance to the trendy, lovey-dovey view of God. Jesus also added a strict warning to not be altered :: The Bible can be trusted!

For those who believe Jesus is a trendy, all-lovey-dovey God, and question the authority of the New Testament as applying today, saying we don’t have to meet together to worship under the authority of the 5-fold ministry according to Ephesians 4:11-16, etc., I write this article on ‘Revelation,’ in addition to the articles I just posted:

The Early Church Fathers and Biblical Authority 100-400 A.D.: “All writers accepted the inspiration and authority of Holy Scripture as self-evident. … There was no temptation to restrict its range to favored passages of the Bible.”

The Gospels are New Covenant and Apply To Us Today — Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to lead the disciples into all truth and to REMIND them of what He taught them to do. Then they did it and we can too — unstoppable!

Does the Bible Claim to Be God’s Inerrant Word? — Jesus’ Statements

Does the Bible Claim to Be God’s Inerrant Word? — Peter considered Paul’s writings Scripture; Paul considered his own writings to be the Word of God

New Testament Canon Compiled by Origen at 250 A.D. — If one is simply asking when these books came to be regarded as Scripture, then we can say that happened at a very early time. But, if one is asking when we see these books, and only these books, occur in some sort of list…

The Book of Revelation is hard to dispute for those who desire to disbelieve the credibility of the Bible, because Jesus declared a strict penalty to anyone who would add or remove any words from it.

I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, if anyone adds to them, may God add to him the plagues which are written in this book. If anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, may God take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book (Revelation 22:18,19).

And Jesus’ words to the seven churches validate much of what was taught in the New Testament letters.

Jesus is speaking to the leaders of the assemblies in these seven communities. Jesus supports the 5-fold ministry, Ephesians-4:11-16 theme by saying to the the assembly in Ephesus: “you can’t tolerate evil men, and have tested those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and found them false.” He doesn’t say: apostles aren’t legitimate anymore. He says: you correctly kept the false ones out.

Jesus warns against eating food sacrificed to idols, which the apostles (Acts 15) and Paul also warned about. Jesus warned against sexual immorality as being taboo for Christians, and said how strictly He was going to judge Jezebel if she didn’t repent for pushing this evil agenda.

And of course, one of the main, trendy, disinfo themes today is that God is only love. Many don’t want to hear Paul’s Romans-11:22 balance:

“See then the GOODNESS and SEVERITY of God. Toward those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, IF you continue in his goodness; OTHERWISE you also will be cut off” — which agrees with what Jesus really said in John 15, contrary to what K-LOVE says.

And Philippians 2:12-13:

“So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING. For it is GOD who WORKS IN YOU both to will and to work, for his good pleasure..”

Regarding Jezebel, Jesus demonstrates His non-lovey-dovey, SEVERE side of His personality towards those who refuse to repent of leading others to seriously sin. Not only would she be judged in the next life, but here on Earth too! “I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.”

2:21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I will throw her into a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great oppression, unless they repent of her works. 23 I will kill her children with Death, and all the assemblies will know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.

Jesus says the church in Sardis actually had a reputation for being alive (unlike most churches today) but were spiritually dead. He didn’t then say: stop group meetings because they don’t work. Rather, he said: clean up your act, and get holy so your names won’t be removed from the Book of Life.

And a few verses later, he told the assembly in Laodicea to repent from being lukewarm, so they could also be dressed in white (like the overcomers in Sardis), otherwise He will vomit them out of His mouth. Doesn’t sound like the trendy, only-love Jesus taught across America today.

The assembly in Philadelphia actually had some Spiritual power, and kept Jesus word. Probably because they kept Jesus’ word they had spiritual power. Jesus then declares that He will preserve them from the hour of testing, and they will achieve their reward in heaven. Praise God!

It’s up to us. Either we live holy, and are spiritually blessed now and forever — as we bless Jesus, watching Him smile — or we willfully sin, like the Prodigal Son, leaving our First Love, breaking Jesus’ heart, refusing to accept and obey His clear words, to live in the Son — and the consequences will be dire. Some will even be judged this side of eternity, like Jezebel….

Much could be gleaned from Jesus’ actions predicted in the main body of Revelation, but for now, I will skip to the last two chapters:

Revelation 21

5 He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.” 6 He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life. 7 He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son. 8 But for the cowardly, unbelievingsinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Revelation 22

12 “Behold, I come quickly. My reward is with me, to repay to each man according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

14 Blessed are those who do his commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood [who don’t worship in Spirit and in truth – editor].

Does the Bible Claim to Be God’s Inerrant Word? — Jesus’ Statements

From: blueletterbible.org

Don Stewart :: Does the Bible Claim to Be God’s Inerrant Word?

[…]

The New Testament is also considered to be inspired of God for the following reasons:

Divine Origin

All throughout Jesus’ ministry the divine origin of His words is stressed.

He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him – the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak (John 12:48,49).

In addition, Jesus said His words would never pass away.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away (Matthew 24:35).

That Jesus said His words would last forever hints at the idea they would be recorded.

The Promise Of Jesus

The main reason we believe that the New Testament has been inspired of God is the promise of Jesus. Before His death and resurrection Jesus made the following promises to His disciples.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you (John 14:26). But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning (John 15:26,27).

However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come (John 16:13).

We have, at least, two promises of Jesus contained in these verses:

1. The Holy Spirit would guide these hand-picked disciples into all truth. [For clarification, this applies to all born-again believers – editor]

2. They would be given the gift of total recall of the things He said and did. This would guarantee the truth of their preaching and teaching as well as anything they would eventually write about Jesus. [I agree with these overall principles in general; though, the wording here seems a bit strong. “Total recall” seems a bit unlike how this probably worked. We can say with certainty that the Holy Spirit accurately reminded the disciples of what Jesus said and did at the appropriate times, which He does to us about Bible teachings we’ve read too. And this, alone, would not “guarantee the truth of their preaching,” necessarily. Because they still had free will, and were not automatic robots. They still had to obey and choose to be led by the Holy Spirit, which we then see happen; though, there was a learning curve – editor.]
