Published on May 29, 2012
This straightforward message is meant to avert the untimely death of a “child” among nations. In a time when nations all over the world point at America calling her everything but Christian, the voice of a “minor” prophet once again speaks a major truth: “It is time to quit playing church.” The author exhorts modern-day clergy to be prophets instead of puppets, agonizers instead of organizers. In spite of this age of mass-communication, he says we are failing to save the contented from the curse of compromise, imitation and professionalism. Leonard Ravenhill (1907–1994) was an English Christian Evangelist and author who focused on the subjects of prayer and revival. He is best known for challenging the modern church (through his books and sermons) to compare itself to the early Christian Church as chronicled in the Book of Acts. His most notable book is Why Revival Tarries which has sold over a million copies worldwide.[1] (Wikipedia)

10 Quotes to Rock Your World
Over the years, I have committed to memory numerous quotes that have stirred my heart and impacted my life, and in the days of the Brownsville Revival, we used to post some of the best, most succinct quotes on the large marquees in front our ministry school.
Today, with the explosion of social media, we can post and tweet these quotes day and night, to the edification and even transformation of many. Here are 10 of my all-time favorites:
[…]
2. “How shall I feel at the judgment, if multitudes of missed opportunities pass before me in full review, and all my excuses prove to be disguises of my cowardice and pride” (W.E. Sangster). …
3. “The man whose little sermon is ‘repent’ sets himself against his age, and will for the time being be battered mercilessly by the age whose moral tone he challenges. There is but one end for such a man—‘off with his head!’ You had better not try to preach repentance until you have pledged your head to heaven” (Joseph Parker). This quote was another of the jewels found in Why Revival Tarries, and it ultimately inspired Keith Green to write the song “I Pledge My Head to Heaven.” Are you really ready to preach repentance?
4. “When I really enjoy God I feel my desires of Him the more insatiable and my thirstings after holiness the more unquenchable. O this pleasing pain. It makes my soul press after God” (David Brainerd). People who are sick sometimes lose their appetite, and when the appetite returns, it is often a sign of health. The same applies spiritually. How hungry are you? That says a lot about your spiritual health.
5. “Satan is so much more in earnest than we are—he buys up the opportunity while we are wondering how much it will cost” (Amy Carmichael).
So it’s not that real Christianity won’t satisfy here on Earth (not just in heaven), it’s that ‘ONE’ isn’t even being tried.
And we’re settling for chicken feed.

“Christianity has not been tried and found wanting;
it has been found difficult and not tried.”
– G.K. Chesterton
“If the whole church goes off into deception,
that will in no way excuse us for not following Christ.”

Jesus in John 15:18-25
If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his lord.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do to you for my name’s sake, because they don’t know him who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates me, hates my Father also. If I hadn’t done among them the works which no one else did, they wouldn’t have had sin. But now have they seen and also hated both me and my Father. But this happened so that the word may be fulfilled which was written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’
Jesus in Luke 6:20-26
He lifted up his eyes to his disciples, and said, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the Kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall exclude and mock you, and throw out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake. Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers did the same thing to the prophets.
“But woe to you who are rich! For you have received your consolation. Woe to you, you who are full now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. Woe, when men speak well of you, for their fathers did the same thing to the false prophets.
“Until people understand we’re involved in a spiritual battle being played out on a political battlefield — we got a one party system, and everything else is a fraud — until people understand that, nothing really makes sense today.”
– Dr. Stanley Monteith — Radio Liberty, 10/21/13 Hour 3
“They think they’re protected by not caring,
but their ‘not caring’ is what’s allowing the evil to take over.”
– Alex Jones

The Price of Revival
Charles Finney once said that revival should come as no surprise. It is certain, just as a crop of wheat will come after the farmer has tilled the land and sown the seed. When we seek the face of God and are willing to pay the price of revival, it will come. The words of the missionary statesman, Jonathan Goforth, shed new light on the price of revival.
Our reading of the Word of God makes it inconceivable to us that the Holy Spirit should be willing, even for a day, to delay His work. We may be sure that, where there is a lack of the fullness of God, it is ever due to man’s lack of faith and obedience. If God the Holy Spirit is not glorifying Jesus Christ in the world today, as at Pentecost, it is we who are to blame. After all, what is revival but simply the Spirit of God fully controlling in the surrendered life? It must always be possible, then, when man yields. The sin of unyieldedness, alone, can keep us from revival.
But are we ready to receive Him? Do we value the giver and the gift sufficiently? Are we ready to pay the price of Holy Ghost revival? Take prayer for example. The history of revival shows plainly that all movements of the Spirit have started in prayer. Yet is it not right there that many of us wilt and falter at the cost?

This is a good one, because willfully giving into sin opens the door to demons to come in and then drive it — so it then seems impossible to stop.

“Much of church activity and fellowship also falls back upon the practice of psychology. Many church leaders are masterful psychologists. They know how to handle people and get the crowds to come. Their operation qualifies as an amazingly “successful” church. Part of the success of that church depends on people with business talents and part of it depends on people with natural gifts as salespersons and politicians.
A Christian congregation can survive and often appear to prosper in the community by the exercise of human talent and without any touch from the Holy Spirit. But it is simply religious activity, and the dear people will not know anything better until the great and terrible day when our self-employed talents are burned with fire and only what was wrought by the Holy Spirit will stand.”

I heard this profound quote today, and thought I’d look it up. It’s often misattributed to Voltaire.
I know a number of people who could have launched the spiritual revival we so desperately need, but they all made excuses, refusing to do what is right so ‘ONE’ can happen “that the world will know” – Jesus’ prayer in John 15.
It just takes one group of people in one place who get their act together, and we’ll have the revival that will rock the world!
Please, stop making excuses and do what is right on Earth. We must overcome! This is our one chance…. We just need a few people who will humble themselves, step up and obey.
The world is waiting.

“Today we are often frightened to commit to any particular group or cause, any particular leadership. The modern man is an “individualist” to the core. But all of this, of course, is the exact opposite of “Body.” It is the exact opposite of ‘Community.’ And thus the exact opposite of the true Church.”
