“Living for His glory results in rejoicing.
• It’s characterized by praising and declaring Him to the world.
• It’s confidence in God….
• Submitting to God; that is being resigned to His will.
• Obeying God so your good works are seen and bring glory to God.
• You serve people in a way that brings glory to God.
• And you rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. That God will be glorified is your hope.”
Steve read this prayer at the end: Spurgeon: Will you not this day make it your prayer? Lord, help me to glorify Thee…
36:15 “Don’t you know that a little sin, carelessly indulged in will prevent your salvation?”
“These little sins show that you are still a slave to sin.” “It shows the deceitfulness of your heart, and manifests that you still love the ways… of sin.”
“If you love sin; though, it is a little one, your heart is not right in the sight of God. You are still a stranger to divine grace.”
“God will never be one with you until you and your sins are split apart.”
“A sin is a sin, whether done in private or before the wide world.”
“Tell thine own conscience now what it is. Look it in the face. Confess it before God. May He give you grace to remove that sin and any other, and turn to Him with full purpose of heart.”
“Christians, recollect that little sins will spoil your communion with Christ. Little sins, like little stains in silk, may damage the fine texture of fellowship; little sins, like little irregularities in the machinery, may spoil the whole fabric of your religion.”
“..my friend, will you have your sin and go to hell, or leave your sin and go to heaven?”
“..will ye keep your secret sins, and have eternal fire for them? Remember it is of no use, they must all be given up, or else you cannot be God’s child. You cannot by any means have both; it cannot be God and the world, it cannot be Christ and the devil; it must be one or the other. Oh! that God would give you grace to resign all; for what are they worth?”
Is The Didache a blueprint for the way churches should be?
This is one of the writings of “the early Christian fathers” that I especially liked. It’s big on unity!
What if we compare The Didache to what is practiced in today’s ‘churches?’
But every Lord’s day gather yourselves together, and break bread, and give thanksgiving after having confessed your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure. But let no one who is at odds with his fellow come together with you, until they be reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be profaned.
Is there even one ‘church’ in America that requires reconciliation? How many pastors have fully reconciled so they’re qualified to lead?
The Didache mentions prophets being a common leadership ministry in the late first century church (like Ephesians 4:11). Where are they in today’s churches?
The Didache also has “the way of death” list that is similar to Paul’s “will not inherit the Kingdom” list in Galatians 5.
It’s the difference between the old and new covenants. The 6th commandment, ‘Thou shall not commit adultery’ meant sex outside of marriage. In the New Testament Jesus says that lusting in one’s heart after women is adultery – Mt. 5:27-29. Prager is Jewish.
The Holy Spirit helps us overcome when we completely submit to God (cold turkey to lusting 100%), resist the Devil and the lust demon flees, even homosexual lust! >>> FREEDOM!!!
“No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Cor. 10:13)

“Repentance is NOT asking the Lord for forgiveness with the intention to sin again.”
Many “Christians” act like the Bible is the vine — or their church.
But Jesus is the Vine:
“I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If a man doesn’t remain in me….”
“Equity spits in the face of ‘if you don’t work neither shall you eat.'”
– Ron Hoffman, 5/7/23
Paul:
“For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.” – 2 Thess. 3:10-12

7. Never Gossip
Gossip is a sin that most of us feel we are not guilty of, and which most of us are very guilty of. Gossip may be defined as saying anything negative, whether true or not, to anyone about the pastor or about the ministry. If there are things wrong, take it to the Lord in prayer. Tell absolutely no one, including your spouse. Do not repeat anything that would cast aspersion on the ministry in any way. Doing so dishonors Christ and His cause.
But, you say, what do you do if there are real problems? Pray about them and forget them. If that doesn’t work, take your concerns directly and only to the pastor himself, and share with him honestly. If that doesn’t work, resign, and move on. Under no circumstances should you ever say anything negative about the pastor or the ministry to anyone, even after you’ve quit.
In a situation where something in the church is so completely wrong that the sheep in the body are in spiritual danger, then say nothing to anybody, resign, and move on. If the church is a Calvary Chapel affiliate, then take your concerns and share them privately with Pastor Chuck or with Oden Fong, then drop it; leave it alone. Let them handle it. Trust God. He’ll correct the situation. But do not gossip. It is a terrible sin before God.
No Talk Rule should automatically start at 57:17:
God’s moral principles are a castle: strong walls and a moat that protects us from the destructive influences of Satan, the world and our own sin nature — our refuge!
‘Do you see God’s moral principles as a prison that keeps you from doing what you want, or as a castle that protects you from the destructive influences of Satan, the world and your own sin nature?’

Does the Present Tense Necessarily Mean “Now but not later”? (1 Tim 2:12) – Mondays with Mounce
Bill Mounce January 9, 2023
1 Timothy 2:12 is one of the most debated verses today. My point in discussing it is not to enter into the general debate but to deal with an erroneous misunderstanding of the present tense. Most of what follows comes from my commentary on the Pastorals.
Select Scriptures from my post: Jesus speaks on Hell and Destruction in Forty Six versus in the Bible
Matthew 8:12
12But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Matthew 13:42
42and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13:49-50
49So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, 50and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
Matthew 18:8
8“If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.
What Jesus said: Adultery in the Heart (Matthew 5:27-30)
“You have heard that it was said to those of old [old covenant], ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you [new covenant] that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand [masturbation] causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
Kerrigan Skelly explains how Jesus’ lust warning in Matthew 5 is absolutely serious! @ 39:00
“What I think Jesus is trying to communicate right here using hyperbole [overstatement to make a graphic point] is to teach this truth:
Do whatever it takes to get rid of the sin. Do whatever it takes. Why? Because your sin will cost you everything, everything in the end. And it’s better to lose whatever you have to lose than to keep sinning and lose Jesus and salvation. It’s better to get rid of whatever you need to get rid of to stop from going to eternal hell in the end.
Lust also many times involves the use of your hand or your hands. The same principle applies to verse 30 as to verse 29.
The question remains: is a little bit of pleasure you receive from lust worth everything: your life, your soul, your eternity? And if you answer ‘no,’ you need to prove it by your actions.”
False doctrine starts if we conform the Word to our experience – Skelly @ 1:03:35
“Conforming the Word to your experience instead of conforming your experience to the Word is definitely a problem. That’s how false doctrine starts.”

Noteworthy texts not mentioned:
Paul was an overcomer:
“..I also practice ALWAYS having a conscience void of offense toward God and men” (Acts 24:16).
We can always overcome temptation by God’s grace:

The Christian and Romans 7
by Shem Peachey
[Out of print – 1976]
How would you feel if the Bible taught that you could never rise higher in your spiritual life than the man in Romans 7? Would you shout “Praise the Lord” or would you flounder in the “Slough of Despond”? Let us together be challenged to understand Romans 7 as we believe Paul intended for it to be understood.
Chapter 6 is recognized as the new birth passage of Romans, echoing chapter 5. “How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” (Romans 6:2). Romans 6:1-11 explains the process of the new birth, and 6:12-23 describes the new life. Repeatedly, we are said to have died with Christ and to sin. Four times we are said to be risen with Christ, or to be alive unto God. And three times in Romans 6 we are said to be free from sin.
We are often trying to evaluate the properness of the punishments we see in our society and even in the Bible. This, I think, is one area where we our intuitions are generally off base.
Let me add some more thoughts for you to consider as you evaluate this idea. Did you know that most prisoners agree that their prison sentences are too harsh? Did you know that criminals are far more likely to have a low view of law enforcement in general? While we can grant that, in some cases, people are unjustly punished by the law we can also recognize that people who break the law are generally more likely to minimize their offense and think that even a just sentence is unjust. But what if we apply this observation to people’s intuitions about the justness of Hell? It basically means that those who have moral guilt before God are more likely to think that Hell is unjust than they are to think that their sin deserves such a punishment. It seems to be a constant feature of the human condition that we will justify ourselves and even go so far as to demonize God Himself if He is going to truly bring down justice for our sins. I think it’s much more wise to assume that, if I can’t see the justness of Hell, then God is wiser than me and I am suffering from a culture of minimizing sin.

“We’re living in a funny world, a world in which people don’t want to accept what God has made them. … Most of the [homosexual] men I’ve counseled … are men who wanted to be looked after, rather than the responsibility of looking after anyone else.”
“Christian men ought to be leading society uphill, rather than following society downhill. But it seems to me that the church follows the world, only 15 years later. … The world accepted homosexuality 20 years ago, the church is just now beginning to accept it. … Christians are just slowly following the world downhill.”

1:07:55 Error & Consequences of Calvinism (meme)
Since “once saved always saved” (OSAS) & “only believe” are not Biblical doctrines [refuted by over 80 New Testament verses; were invented by Augustine (4th century) and Luther, Calvin & Beza (16th century)], how then can we be sure of our salvation according to what the Bible really says?
“How can we be sure? ..through the Holy Spirit. When we are led by the Spirit and are walking in the Spirit, we shall enjoy the continuous witness of the Spirit, that intuitive certainty that the Lord is with us. But the New Testament also contains checks even on this, so that we can be quite sure that our intuition is not being misled. These include a clear conscience, a love for our brethren in Christ and a discontinuing of habitual sins (1 John contains a comprehensive list of such ‘proofs’).” – David Pawson, Once Saved Always Saved?: A Study in Perseverance and Inheritance (p. 139; p. 134 Kindle)

• WARNINGS against backsliding SHOW that the security of the believer is conditional upon obedience and faith
• What God has provided in Christ man must receive and apply
• Divine SOVEREIGNTY *and* human RESPONSIBILITY meet together in the great redemptive plan
• Christ is “the author of eternal salvation unto all them that OBEY him” (Hebrews 5:9)
• Upon HEARING and FOLLOWING the Shepherd they receive eternal life and will never perish

Paul, himself made sure he abided in Christ: “Herein I also practice ALWAYS having a CONSCIENCE VOID OF OFFENSE toward God and MEN” (Acts 24:16) — which sometimes required reconciliation to be right with men (Mt. 5:23-26 and James 5:16).

Who were the Nephilim? Are the “sons of god” mentioned in Genesis 6 merely the decedents of Seth? This topic is not one that we should divide over in the body of Christ, but it is something that we should discuss and ask ourselves, “what does the Bible say concerning this?”
