EXCELLENT article!!! REALLY, REALLY SWEET!!! May we be ‘ONE’ — Jesus prayed in John 17 — “that the world will know.”
Christians are supposed to be salt and light, but if they can’t forgive and get right with each other, God’s glory can’t come in another Great Awakening — which would greatly help the races unite, so we could defeat the NWO.
And if ‘Christians’ think they can go to heaven no matter what they do (including: whom they hate), because of once-saved-always-saved now being preached across the land, our country’s future doesn’t look good.
But we can be free in Him no matter what!

Love Your Neighbor As You Love Yourself: An Appeal For Reconciliation

Whatever you may think about the George Zimmerman trial, the truth is that it is yet another example that shows very clearly how divided America is at this point. I was hesitant to write anything about the Zimmerman trial today, because it seems like the more people talk about it the more divided we become. But we need to have some honest discussions about these issues, because all of this division threatens to literally tear this nation apart. If we do not learn how to love one another and forgive one another, America is not going to have any sort of a future. After all this time, the people of the United States should have been able to get beyond racial hatred. Instead, it appears to be growing with each passing day. Right now, there are millions of Americans that hate African-American people. Right now, there are millions of Americans that hate Hispanic-American people. Right now, there are millions of Americans that hate Asian-American people. Right now, there are millions of Americans that hate white people. Right now, there are millions of Americans that hate Jewish people. All of this hatred is evil, and it is eating away at our nation like cancer. The problems that our country is facing are immense, and we are never going to have any hope of solving them until we can forgive one another and start to honestly love one another.
When groups of Americans begin to label other groups of Americans that don’t look like them as “the enemy”, we all lose.
We should refuse to listen to those that would attempt to divide us and pit us against one another. We must find a way to come together and overcome all of the bitterness and resentment that is out there. Those that harbor hatred in their hearts are not doing any good and they are slowly but surely destroying themselves.
We need to start understanding that every human life is of great value. I doesn’t matter what someone looks like or where they are from. The following is a direct quote from one of our most important founding documents, the Declaration of Independence…
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Indeed, we are all greatly loved and greatly valued by our Creator. Those that choose to hate a particular group of people are choosing to come against the Creator of us all.

If you hate a particular group of people, you are part of the problem.
In Matthew chapter 22, Jesus is asked what the greatest commandment is…
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
First of all, we are to love God with everything that is inside of us.
Secondly, we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
So exactly who qualifies as a neighbor?
Jesus answered that question in Luke chapter 10…
30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
Are you willing to love those that look different than you do?
Of course we all could do better and we have all made mistakes. That is one reason why forgiveness is so important.
We all need to have grace for one another and to be open to reconciliation.
If Americans are able to forgive one another and start loving one another, we may be able to start moving this country back in the right direction.
If not, strife and discord will literally tear our communities apart.
The choice is up to you America.

A Prayer For Today – for reconciliation of relationships
Father, in Jesus’ name, You are the Great Reconciler! Of marriages! Of children! Of families! Of brothers and sisters in You! Of all relationships! It is in Your strength, and by Your grace that I will go to the person with whom I have had conflict. You have planted the Seed of Love in my heart, and I will humble myself by asking forgiveness regardless of who was at fault. I pray that the relationship will be healed and the breach mended. I purpose to do this in obedience to Your Word and for Your glory, Lord Jesus. The Repairer of Breaches in relationships is working on my behalf! Amen.

Francis Frangipane, author of Holiness, Truth and the Presence of God, wrote earlier today on Facebook:
“Although we cannot alter the past, we can put our past upon the altar. The heart that surrenders its sorrows to God, surrenders its wounds to healing.”
And I commented with this:
Francis, do you remember how you prophesied in Wasilla, Alaska [Sarah Palin was there] about the revival happening up here to such a great degree that people should buy hotels, because of the people that will come to be a part of the revival?
I believe the main thing that is holding this up is that most ‘Christians,’ including pastors are not getting right with those they’ve hurt. Then they will feel right because only then will they be clean:
“There is therefore now *no condemnation* to those who are *in Christ Jesus*, WHO don’t WALK according to the flesh, but ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT.”
Because the truth about holiness required for salvation is no longer preached, People don’t think they have to get right with others in order to be right with God.
And only when we’re right with others can the Third Great Awakening Happen, because “God resists the proud, but GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE” — just like in Asbury, Wales and in Acts!
I got this word in 1990 while preparing to talk with a pastor in Anchorage, Alaska about what I believed was the reason revival wasn’t happening. I just wrote down what I heard:
Before we lift up our hands to worship God, if we remember we have ought with anyone, we should leave our gift at the altar, and first reconcile with our brother, and then offer our gift. Then God will honor our praise and worship. His glory will come: “Holiness, Truth and the Presence of God!”
We can’t just try to forget what we did to others. We must get right with them so we can be clean.

I made this comment on Facebook, yesterday, to some former church leaders, but it seemed like nobody wanted to hear it. I don’t know if I ever will understand how a person can be called divisive while pushing for unity? But this isn’t the first time.
Why is reconciliation, the key to revival (see links below) a taboo subject?
I’m going to start calling it the ‘R-word.’

This following real-history, video is what happens when people get right with each other, but WHEN IS THE LAST TIME ANYONE HAS HEARD a sermon that Christians need to get right with each other — reconciliation? It’s like it’s a taboo subject — because hardly any leaders, themselves are willing to get right with everyone. But reconciliation with each other is essential for ‘ONE’ to happen.
This can happen, and should happen in Anchorage. Reconciliation is the biggest key to revival, because there is still blood on the pews….
I also said:
I also believe that many Christians need to not only confess their sins to God, but they also need to get right with those they’ve hurt, lied to — in order to be right with God. They can’t just say “heh, heh, heh, and slap the person on the back,” and then be actually right with that person and God. Only when we are right with each other can we worship in Spirit and in truth (Mt. 5:23-25).
[“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.]
And perhaps that is one of the reasons certain people here don’t even want to meet together and worship. Perhaps it’s better to ‘cold’ than to be ‘lukewarm,’ acting like everything is okay when it is not. But both are going to hell if they don’t repent.
It’s amazing at how many willfully sinful people raise their hands during worship services but are not right with even people in the same room.
And only then can healings regularly happen too. James 5:
“13 Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him SING PRAISES. 14 Is any among you sick? Let him CALL FOR THE ELDERS OF THE ASSEMBLY, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, 15 and the prayer of faith WILL HEAL HIM who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 CONFESS YOUR OFFENSES TO ONE ANOTHER, and PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
We can only worship in Spirit and in truth when our consciences don’t condemn us, saying we need to get right with someone, first.
Let us be free!
Pray for each other until ‘ONE’ happens — until God’s glory fills us with so much joy (John 15) that the world will know (John 17) !!!

Forty years ago I was part of a church group that, in spite of its good points also had serious problems. At that time I was pastoring a small church and felt we should leave the parent organization because of its problems. So, my church and I began to prayerfully seek God for His will. After 40 days, I held my list of complaints before the Lord and prayed, “Lord, look at the errors in these people. Direct us, Lord, should we leave or stay?”
Immediately the Lord replied, “Have you seen these things?”
“Yes, Lord,” I answered, “I have seen their sins.”

Simon Adahl, St Matthew and Prophetic Enemy Love
Simon picked up his Bible again. He expected a new revelation that would make him rich and famous. Instead he got chocked when he read “Love your enemies” in Matthew 5:44. “How could I love the idiot that is stalking us?” he shouted to God. But still he started to bless his enemy one minute a day. At first it was just empty words. After a while though, he actually started to have compassion with this man. After five months, he sincerely blessed him and prayed for his protection and happiness.
Then Simon found him on the street. The man got scared, but Simon hugged him and invited him to dinner. …
See what happens when you love your enemies? Simon could not stop emphasizing the importance of forgiveness when accessing the gifts of the Spirit. We need love and compassion for miracles to abound. And it doesn’t hurt to be a conscientious objector as well.

Perhaps a key reason why ‘Christians’ (including pastors) aren’t getting right with those they’ve hurt (so revival can come) is because they’re afraid of losing face, afraid that we’ll beat them up when they admit what WE ALREADY KNOW anyway.
The truth is: we will love them so much — and they’ll gain face — BIG time!!!!!!!
Let’s embrace each other and walk in UNITY so ‘ONE’ can happen!!!!!!!

9/23/12 Dream given to Jeff Fenske
Last night, I saw in a dream the leaders of a church wondering what to do, having run out of ideas.
They were all looking at the rectangular box on their digital calendar for the month of May, which had suddenly become all white, empty.
What they had planned on doing had fallen apart, and they were out loud wondering what to do, instead.
I said, “why don’t we start the revival?”
And the dream ended.

To me, this dream represents the current state of the church.
What follows are portions of two long prophecies I got for a pastor, 15 years apart. This first prophecy is from 1991.
God wanted revival to happen decades ago, but the pastors in America chose to do programs instead of doing what the Holy Spirit was trying to tell them to do. We could have saved America, had we only obeyed then. Now, I believe God has said it is too late, but we can still get ‘ONE’ happening, so we can be safe in Christ and united through the difficult times ahead.
But there is no other way, My son. No other program will accomplish this, no other strategy, no other means than by My Word, by My Spirit, by the living Word, the rhema of independence from guilt, the liberating manna in the desert, from where it sprouts shoots that grow into plants, becoming big trees, blossoming all around. But first the root must be planted in soil, the soil of My Words and My love. You know it well. You’ve read it often—about the vine and the branches, the tree and the stalk from which plenty comes.
There is only one way. Abide in Me, and rest assured there is no other way by which life comes. No programs will accomplish this. You will find them bare in the long run—wasted.
Go slow, and get to know Me. Cut back from all these things. Strive not ahead without Me leading—safely behind the Father, safely enduring to the end—safely. In safety there is rest. Safety comes first by seeking Me first above all else….

From the prophecy I got in 2004 for this same pastor. I just capitalized the ONEs now:
Obey, and fruit will come. It’s that simple. … Away from Me there is no life. Forgive and you will be free. … Embrace those who obey, and let’s be ONE, unified, ONE Spirit, ONE way, ONE direction—all going separate directions all at once with Me choreographing each one’s part until it all becomes a whole body that prays hard and is ONE. You will see it. Will you let it happen or stand in the way by your programs that divide? Strength in numbers. …
I am your friend. You can count on that, but I will oppose you if you take these sheep for a ride. Know that I care and will give you great things. Build for yourself a home where you can be ONE. This is what I want, not you in charge of the destiny of others. Let Me lead, and you will be sorry that it took this much time for you to get the picture. That’s okay, but many have been hurt in the process. Shake the demons off your feet and go the higher direction, where life reigns.
The process of getting right with your brother:
Will you not go to them and tell them the truth: your ineptness, not realizing their hurt? They will understand, but give it to them straight. Don’t expect them to obey and love you without you repenting. You do what you can do, not them. It’s not up to them. Treat them with kindness and you will see life, fruit will remain from the greatest two commandments being fully implemented to an extent you’ve never seen. You will see this in your midst, and it will be grand. So full of love your heart will be. Watch the Asbury tape, again, from the beginning. See what can happen. See it as you repent. Watch it before your eyes. Something greater, that can last will come your direction. I promise, if you do what is right. For you are holding back this move. You, first, then others will follow. Give it time. Don’t expect this tomorrow, for people have to catch up, but they will. Others will obey so rapidly as sands of the seashore waking up and smelling the roses that life came and will envelope your soul. Let it sweep you off your feet, and obey. Love will happen….
First, do things first. Tell others you are sorry that you’ve dissed them, that you led them astray, that you took them down a path of disobedience. This dead-end street has a beginning. Show them the way to go by starting at the top, the basics, the greatest two. That’s what they need to hear. That’s what should be draped before their eyes. Let them hang down from the walls.
From the floor, build at ground zero: love fully even as I have loved. Let Me be the example, and set your sights high. You have vision. Let it rip your life where it must, and then go from there. Hurts will cease. Get rid of the demons. Set your sights high, on eternity, your reward if you obey. Many others will follow and learn the way of life at this institution, a place of prayer. It’s okay to falter at first, but you’ve had so much time and prayers. …
Let it be different and new life will come. You will be so glad, happy, relaxed, unified. My Word will happen. Let it give you life. Obey all of it, not just what comes out of your mouth, that what you’ve swallowed hard. Don’t ignore what is written, those passages that warn others to obey, including you. …
Thank you, My son. I will love you, forever, and we will be ONE. Life in the Son is the way to go. Do it now, and you’ll never regret this decision to obey. Give to Me, your pride, and I will hold you up, higher than most, a shining example of mercy. Let’s go and be right for a change: ONE—unified—ONE heart, ONE body. Disobey, never, and I will give you life. …
Thank you, my friend. Let’s go. Now relax and obey. Rewards will come if you let them. Cease striving, and walk the way of men, never. There is a better way, and I will lead you into disaster, never. You can trust Me. See that you obey, and walk righteously. And never again look back. Set your sights high, and you will see mercy. Lots of love will come from your bones, not hate. Be not afraid. Cease striving, away from Me, and I will give you hope to overcome, a way that is better. Rest in me, and transgress, never. Fruit will remain if you obey. Set your sights high, not in Proverbs. A flow from above will accomplish much, not works on earth from below, the dark side. That is where you remain, in the world, their way of thinking.
Leave all these programs aside, and seek a different way, one that is better. Strive no more, and relax, knowing that I am in charge. Don’t fight Me. Rely on your own intelligence cannot bring about change. …
I love you so much. Please, give Me the upper hand and life will come—not the other way around, where life will cease, as it is now: dead — dead services. Come out from among them and be separate, all those churches that disobey. Let them run for cover when the real thing happens. Don’t fear retaliation. This time it will be different. There will be a prayer base, and it will be established in love. You need not fear that this move will stop, unless people leave Me.
I will obey. I am steadfast. I am under authority, where you belong. I always did the right thing, constantly forgiving, under authority, not out on My own — safety— safely out of harms way, no matter how it looked from the outside. I was hidden. I walked the walk. Will you do the same, following in My footsteps, or will you argue that yours is a better way? …

Philippians 2:1-8
If there is therefore any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion, make my joy full, by being LIKE-minded, having the SAME love, being of ONE accord, of ONE mind; doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.
Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death…

A WORD FROM THE LORD through Patricia King September 13/12
Rosh Hashanah is coming soon (Sept 16 p.m. – Sept 18 p.m.) It is time to prepare our hearts before the Lord in preparation of this coming year. After Rosh Hashanah we have 10 days before the Day of Atonement. These are very important dates on the Biblical calendar.
I have a word from the Lord for us.
The Lord says to “settle accounts” with Him before the Day of Atonement on September 26. He told me that our well-being in Him and in life is dependent on the posturing of our heart before Him and before others in this season. We must make adjustments. The next year will be the VERY BEST ever for those who walk uprightly before Him. There will be great reward for those who have been faithful in secret and there will be open reward, honor, and acceleration…BUT for those who have sinned in secret, there will be open consequences and public dishonor and great loss.
Things that were hidden before the eyes of man have not been hidden before the eyes of God and ALL will be brought into the light in the next 12 months.
It is time to make wrongs right. God has seen everything. Make things right with true repentance and brokenness before God and also make things right with man — if you have sinned, bring your sin into the light and repent. If you have sinned privately, go in private but if your sin has influenced the public and broader scope, then go to them.
Your future well-being is dependent on how you posture yourself in this hour.
Everything in secret will be shouted form the rooftops. Some leaders who refuse to repent in this season will come into ruin and great shame because they acted corruptly. God is a God of mercy but He is also a God of Justice.
Let’s walk in the fear of the Lord and respond to this word….posture ourselves before the Lord in righteousness and get ready for the best years ever!!!

The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.
For God will bring EVERY act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.

Comparing Bees And Brethren

Experts in bee behavior say that bees cannot live in isolation. You might capture one bee and provide for him the best environment and ideal living conditions, but within three days he will die. It is essential that he be with other bees. The association in the bee community (hive existence), keeps all the bees alive — they depend on each other. You can keep bees but you can’t keep only one bee.
A Christian trying to live without associating with other Christians, will grow cold and become indifferent (Revelation 3:14-16). As the bee will die physically if he ceases associating with other bees, the Christian will eventually die spiritually speaking (Revelation 3:1; cf. 1 Timothy 5:6).
As with bees, there is something vital about the relationship Christians share together. The more we work together in a spirit of UNITY, the more alive and productive we become (cf. Romans 1:7-8; Philippians 1:1-6; Colossians 1:1-6; 1 Thessalonians 1:1-8; 2 Thessalonians 1:1-4).
Our hearts must be right so revival can happen.

Throughout the last 2000 years, humanity has been violent, many wars have been fought for many reasons, and much of humanity has adhered to Christianity. The very fact that wars occur, even among Christian nations, was a horrible thought, as Christianity is very clear that its adherents were to be peacemakers.

We are commanded that murder is wrong by the Ten Commandments. By these principles, that build upon one another, you can begin to see in how many ways our current foreign policy and reasons for war have violated the tenets that Americans, people of western civilization and Christians in general have held for years.
The first thing that is made plain: There is NEVER a justification for PRE-EMPTIVE war. All of America’s friends, allies and even the enemies took note that America had abandoned tradition and history and decided to go to war pre-emptively. That means that ANY COUNTRY, any leader, any provocation of any type could bring war down on their heads without recourse to diplomacy, negotiations, third party interventions. It made America DANGEROUS AND UNPREDICTABLE. It made our enemies step up their preparations for protective and possibly aggressive warfare. It also gave other countries an out and out justification to strike at us without warning, by any means they may choose.
It has put America and Americans in the greatest danger we have EVER been in.
The Just War Doctrine holds human life, and the well being of societies, to be of primary importance, and that the only point to war is to address damage that has been done already to a people and to return everyone to a state of peace as rapidly as possible.

Maybe if we start to view church the way God designed it, as a family loving each other and living and sharing all of life together, we might show the world a glimpse of who God is, and we might begin to impact the world as God intended us to do.

I posted this in 11/22/08 at ToBeFree. I think it’s time I put it on ONEcanhappen.
Why don’t evangelical pastors talk about repenting and getting right with those we’ve hurt? Where are the peacemakers?
Instead, they’re pushing for another war — won’t support Ron Paul — when we haven’t even gotten right with those we hurt horrendously in the last two or three wars since unforgiveness and retaliation has raged, post 9/11.
This is disgusting — warmongering among ‘Christians’ — blood on their lips to defend Israel, when neither Israel or US will get on our knees and repent. So reverse-Christian! And so naive, thinking we’re safe no matter what. “If God is for US, who could be against US?”
God is for US repenting and getting right…
Remember when God would raise up nations to bring Israel into captivity to teach them a lesson in the Old Testament. One of these days it will be our turn — which I think will happen more by God lifting His hand of protection from our nation.

ARCHBISHOP DESMOND TUTU: Well, I say that obviously it’s to end the war—yeah?—to end the occupation, to—but I’ve also said it would wonderful if, on behalf of the American people, he were to apologize to the Iraqis and to the rest of the world for an invasion that was based on lies. You know, saying “I’m sorry,” that’s a very powerful phrase in human relationships. The current prime minister of Australia, one of the very first things he did was to apologize to the Aborigines. And it’s amazing what those words, some of the most difficult words in any language, how powerful they are in changing. That’s what I’ve said.
And one would hope, too, that, you know, they see that war hardly ever resolves problems. You just have an exacerbation. I mean, look at Iraq. Over the years, I’ve been convicted by passages that describe the unity Christ wants in His church (John 17, 1 John 4, 1 Corinthians 12, Philippians 2, Acts 2…). But whenever I’ve made efforts toward bringing believers together, I run into seemingly insurmountable barriers. I don’t know how to overcome the differences in theology, convictions, and personalities. So I gave up long ago.
But once again, His Word is bothering me. This time around, it’s the second half of Ephesians 2 that is convicting me. I confess, I had never taken a real close look at this passage. Until this recent study, I hadn’t noticed the deep connection between the cross and unity. Our oneness is far more than a “nice idea” we should pursue if we can find the time. It was a motivation for the cross.
14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. 17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
I don’t know how this will play out in my life this time. I don’t have a brilliant master plan to unite His children. I just figured I would start by getting you to stare at His Word again, and by praying that His Spirit would bring unity to His church. I certainly don’t have the answer, but I care again and more than I ever have. Our Father wants His children tightly connected, and our Savior died to make it possible. Shouldn’t we be working and praying harder about this?

[Secretariat] was an American Thoroughbred racehorse, who in 1973 became the first U.S. Triple Crown champion in twenty-five years, setting new race records in two of the three events in the Series—the Kentucky Derby (1:59 2/5), and the Belmont Stakes (2:24)—records that still stand today.
Secretariat was sired by Bold Ruler (a grandson of Nearco) and foaled to Somethingroyal. He was foaled at Meadow Farm in Caroline County, Virginia. Like the equally famous horse Man o’ War, Secretariat was a large chestnut colt and was given the same nickname, “Big Red.”
Owned by Penny Chenery (aka Penny Tweedy), he was trained by Lucien Laurin and mainly ridden by fellow Canadian jockey Ron Turcotte, along with apprentice jockey Paul Feliciano (first two races), and veteran Eddie Maple (last race). He raced in Penny Chenery’s Meadow Stable’s blue and white checkered colors and his groom was Eddie Sweat.
The story of Secretariat began with the toss of a coin in 1968 between Christopher Chenery of Meadow Stables and Ogden Phipps of Wheatley Stable. The idea of a coin toss came from Phipps, the owner of Bold Ruler, and Bull Hancock of Claiborne Farms as a way to get the very best mares for Bold Ruler, and when the toss went their way, to add well-bred fillies to their own broodmare band. Bold Ruler was considered one of the important stallions of his time. He had a fine balance between speed and stamina, having had a frontrunning style but the stamina to go 1 1/4 miles; he finished 3rd in the 1957 Kentucky Derby. After his racing career, Bold Ruler was retired to Claiborne Farms but still was controlled by the Phipps family. This meant he would be bred to mainly Phipps’ mares and not many of his offspring would find their way to the auction ring. Phipps and Hancock agreed to forgo a stud fee for Bold Ruler in exchange for getting to keep one of two foals produced by the mare he bred in successive seasons or two mares he bred in the same season. Who obtained which foal or even received first pick would be decided by a flip of a coin.
In 1968, Chenery sent two mares named Hasty Matelda and Somethingroyal to Bold Ruler, and in 1969, a colt and filly were the result. In 1969, Hasty Matelda was replaced by Cicada, but she did not conceive. Only one foal resulted between Bold Ruler and Somethingroyal. As stated in the original agreement, the winner of the coin toss could pick the foal he wanted but could only take one, while the loser would get the other two. Both parties assumed Somethingroyal would deliver a healthy foal in the spring of 1970. The coin toss between Penny Chenery and Ogden Phipps was held in the fall of 1969 in the office of New York Racing Association Chairman Alfred Vanderbilt II, with Hancock as witness. Phipps won the toss and took the weanling filly out of Somethingroyal, leaving Chenery with the colt out of Hasty Matelda and the unborn foal of Somethingroyal.
On March 30, at 12:10 a.m., Somethingroyal foaled a bright red chestnut colt with three white socks and a star with a narrow blaze. By the time the colt was a yearling, he was still unnamed. Meadow Stables’ secretary, Elizabeth Ham, had submitted 10 names to the Jockey Club, all of which were denied for various reasons. Approval finally came with the 11th submission, a name Ham herself picked from a previous career association, Secretariat.
Secretariat’s owner entered into a syndication deal that precluded the horse racing past age three. Accordingly, Secretariat’s last race was against older horses in the Canadian International Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Canada. It was the second time in his career that he raced on grass and the first time he was asked to go one and five-eighths miles (just a furlong further than he’d already run twice that year). Secretariat won with another impressive performance. With Ron Turcotte out with a five-day suspension, Eddie Maple rode Secretariat to victory by 6 1/2 lengths.
Altogether, Secretariat won 16 of his 21 career races, with three seconds and one third, for in-the-money finishes in 20 of 21 starts, and total earnings of $1,316,808.
At age three, Secretariat was again named Horse of the Year, as well as winning Eclipse Awards as the American Champion Three-Year-Old Male Horse and the American Champion Male Turf Horse.

My brother Bill was driving by the farm where Secretariat was living. He shot some video which turned out to be some of the last video taken of this special horse. This was a day or two before Secretariat was put down. The TV station Bill worked for turned the footage into a wonderful story.

I watched the movie “Secretariat” last night. WoW!!!!!!!
I watched the movie “Secretariat” last night. WoW, am I encouraged!!!!!!!
This true story isn’t mainly about a great horse. It’s about a great, “stubborn” woman who wouldn’t give up despite all of the naysayers.
I wasn’t familiar with the lead actress, but Diane Lane is ABSOLUTELY INSPIRING in this nearly perfect movie that I could recommend to everyone in that it’s also clean — which is why Lane wouldn’t get the Oscar she deserved. It also has a disqualifying gospel song.
I had a feeling it would be good, because ‘Secretariat’ was directed by Randall *Wallace*, who wrote the screenplay for one of my all-time favorite movies, ‘Braveheart,’ the story of Scottish freedom-fighter, William *Wallace* (Randall believes they’re probably related).
If you need encouragement to pursue EXCELLENCE no matter the odds, and no matter what might now lie ahead …
