“Proponents of the rapture have taken particular passages and removed them from their context in order to support their theological ideas. Such theology distorts the message of the Bible. Christians trade the message of Revelation as a call of discipleship in a fallen world for escapism.”

“Rather than viewing natural disasters and wars as horrific events that require Christian action, many embrace these events as exciting signals that Christ will soon rapture His church. Many fear that these views are shaping American culture and political beliefs.”

Witherington stated it this way in his book, Revelation and the End Times: Unraveling God’s Message of Hope —

[video] Pastor Antonio Thomas: The Truth about Tithing — Pastors are afraid they won’t get paid, so they threaten people with an old covenant curse instead of teaching heartfelt, Spirit-led giving

Many pastors don’t want to give up on teaching tithing; even though, they know it’s wrong. Antonio points out that they’re afraid they won’t get paid. That’s because people rightfully don’t want to fund spiritually dead ‘churches’ in which the pastors aren’t Spirit-led themselves to even be able to teach the people how to be led by the Holy Spirit.

If pastors need to teach tithing to keep the doors open they shouldn’t be pastors. And could these pastors then pray against (James-3 curse) those who refuse to go along with tithing — thinking they even have an Old Testament scripture that gives them license to even curse those who they are supposed to lead into holiness?

I think so. See: Dennis Cramer: “Most ‘Christians’ curse for the purpose of retaliation and vindication … ‘Christian’ leaders are even more vulnerable” I can still remember the pastor slamming the pulpit, yelling: “don’t you dare rob God!!” Another in the same ‘church’ led us in a prayer in which he actually cursed the abortionists. I spoke to him afterward, saying we can’t do this because of James 3. He said he can do this because of what it says in the Old Testament. And we have never spoken again.

One of the pastors in this ‘church’ told me that they all know tithing isn’t biblical, but they aren’t telling the people….

But once the truth about tithing is taught, and how we need to be right with each other in Christ to even be real, going-to-heaven Christians, then God would show up in such great glory — ‘ONE’ happening (John 17) — that there never would be money problems again!!!

It’s just such a no brainer. Com’ on, you all. The Bible really is clear on both of these doctrines: “who goes to heaven” and “tithing or being Spirit-led.” I prove them on this site.

If we’ve been wrong, let’s just admit it, and get right with all people in God, and live in His glory for the rest of our lives on earth.

People in the churches keep crying for revival, but the only way ‘ONE’ will happen is if we actually do the greatest two commandments. And getting this love-of-money issue right is a key part.

Imagine, if you were God, and the pastors are keeping people under a curse instead of teaching them to be led by You. It grieves God’s heart. His people are so far from Him because the pastors refuse to teach the truth; even though, they’ll get a stricter judgment — which they teach that they can’t because of the once saved, always saved heresy.

Jeff

“We have to now attach curses to people to motivate them to give. … Whenever you attach giving to those things [threat of being cursed, etc.], and that means that your giving is under compulsion. and it is no longer a heartfelt, spirit-led action.”

“Most of our pastors don’t trust God enough for that. … At the end of the month there would be a whole lot of nervous pastors wondering if they’re going to get paid. … My philosophy is that if this is of God, then your lack of giving cannot destroy it. If this is of God?”

David Wilkerson: True Grace — “According to Paul, we are not walking in grace until we have broken from worldly corruptions. Unless we are endeavoring through the power of the Holy Spirit to lead godly and righteous lives, looking for the Lord’s coming in our every waking moment, we do not know God’s grace.”

TRUE GRACE
by David Wilkerson | April 11, 2012

Let me give you the heart of the true grace message: It is not a permissive gospel but one that teaches holiness!

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:11-13).

According to Paul, we are not walking in grace until we have broken from worldly corruptions. Unless we are endeavoring through the power of the Holy Spirit to lead godly and righteous lives, looking for the Lord’s coming in our every waking moment, we do not know God’s grace.

Many Christians want forgiveness, but that is all. They do not want to be delivered from this present world, because they love it. They are attached to their sins, not wanting to give up the pleasures of this earth. So they cling to a doctrine [‘eternal security’ or ‘once saved, always saved’ (OSAS) – editor] that says, “I can live as I please — as long as I say that I believe.”

They do not want to hear about obedience, repentance, self- denial, picking up their cross, taking on the yoke or burden of Christ. They simply want to be excused on Judgment Day — to have all their iniquities overlooked. They expect Jesus to open up the pearly gates, put His arms around them, and lead them down a golden street to their reserved mansion, even though they have never broken from the spirit of this world!

Paul writes, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2). We are to break from this world completely and be conformed to Christ alone!

Jesus justifies us through faith for a purpose: It is to embolden and empower us to resist the devil and overcome the world.

[Jesus Christ] gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father” (Galatians 1:4).

The Call To HOLINESS / Believe unto Holiness without which no man shall see God

by Gary Gray

Jesus Christ, the one who is God in the flesh, Shed His Blood on the cross that we would be made clean, through: belief in Him as Lord and Savior, His death and resurrection, His ascension and imminent return, even by His atonement; His blood having made us clean, has thereby made us able to receive in us the presence of the Holy Spirit and by this, having been born again of God, we have been equipped with the ability to cleanse ourselves of all wickedness through the Power of The Holy Spirit; for those who believe and receive the light that the world rejected, He has given power to become the sons of God.

Therefore since God has required that we be Holy even as He is Holy, it is not something of which we should be discouraged nor should it be despised, for God is just, righteous, and true, desiring beyond our comprehension that we become one with Him, even as He is one with the Son Jesus Christ, so much so, that we should consider the command to be Holy as evidence that He has made us able also to perform it.

Let us avoid the powerful grip of wickedness which results from unbelief, for if we do not believe we can be Holy, we have given ourselves to wickedness and offended the Holy and precious gift of God toward us despising the holy sacrifice of The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the living Son of God who left Glory to secure our place in the Heavenly and divine creation to come.

If God left Glory to suffer the death on the cross for us, then how important do we think it is to Him to also finish in us the work He started; and if we entered in to this life with Him through faith and believing and by the Power of the Holy Spirit, then how else shall we continue on into the holiness to which we are called and without which no man shall see God?

Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way | Who are the Children of God?

(video) Paul Washer: “We Have Forgotten that the Way is Narrow” [The title is GREAT, but this is another way of teaching the false doctrine of once-saved-always-saved. The key isn’t in truly being born-again and then God automatically does it. Many have truly been born-again. The key is to safely abide in Christ from where life flows and ‘ONE’ can happen!!!]

Since I have written Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way | Who are the Children of God?, it would seem logical that I would agree with a message entitled We Have Forgotten that the Way is Narrow. I do appreciate very much what Paul Washer says here, but he is teaching another form of the once-saved-always-saved fallacy in this presentation; though, this is much less dangerous than how most teach once-saved-always-saved.

The extreme view:
Charles Stanley and many others teach that if a person is truly born-again, there is nothing they can do to lose their salvation. Even unrepentant rapists and murderers go to heaven in this teaching

Paul Washer and some others’ view:
If a person is truly born-again, God will make sure that the person will stay enough on the right path that he or she will go to heaven no matter what. Washer probably believes in God’s sovereignty, instead of man having free will and therefore personal responsibility.

What I believe:
Many have been truly and sincerely born-again. Many have sincerely tried to follow the Holy Spirit (or do so in spurts), Who is in them, prompting them to overcome and convicting them of sin, but many are willfully disobeying to the degree that they’re not making sure they are right with their brothers and sisters and God Himself so they have clean consciences to be able to enter heaven, according to what the Bible really says. I show in Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way | Who are the Children of God? what the Bible really teaches regarding what God requires of His people. Our hearts must be pure. We must overcome as God enables us to do so by His Grace.

I believe that truly born-again people can easily (especially these days with all of these temptations) willfully sin to where we leave the safe place of abiding in Christ, to where our consciences condemn us. And unless we repent and get right with God again (and sometimes this means getting right with people too), then we are in danger of going to Hell.

This is not normal Christianity, but it is normal for many ‘Christians’ today. Many have been led astray into thinking that we can ignore the warning-promptings of the Holy Spirit and the meek Jesus will give us the thumbs up anyway. But Jesus in heaven is not mainly meek. Jesus is endued with power, completely holy. If our consciences bother us on earth, where His presence is right now not very strong, imagine how our unclean consciences will shout at us. We will tremble when we stand before our HOLY GOD, face to face, horrified by our guilt that remains!!!

Consider this pastor, who would have spent eternity in hell just because he refused to forgive his wife:

Pastor DIES > goes to HELL because he HADN’T FORGIVEN his wife > AROSE from the dead almost 2 days later > tells story

Washer ignores the many verses that I give in “Who-Goes-to-Heaven Scriptures…” that show how holy we must be to be going-to-heaven children of God.

I know a pastor, locally, who was going to teach a number of messages about who goes to heaven. Before he did so, he promised he’d look at my writings. I was so excited and certain we could get on the same page and help revival to soon happen. To my utter shock and amazement, he ended up refusing to read what I wrote, and he taught similarly to what Paul Washer teaches in this message regarding the Calvinist perseverance of the saints doctrine — that if a person is truly born-again they will persevere, showing fruit — even if there is bad fruit, willful, unrepentant sin in there too. He then cut me off from his life, and hasn’t spoken to me since; even though, an overseer must be blameless: Paul’s Elders’ qualifications revisited: What does ‘BLAMELESS’ mean? — Most pastors are biblically disqualified.

I appreciate Paul Washer’s willingness to teach about the fear of the Lord and some of the warning scriptures, but it doesn’t seem to me that this kind of teaching really is bringing about Christlike fruit in which people are really getting holy and right with God and each other so we can be free — and ‘ONE’!

I don’t see the joy of the Lord here. I still see a license for willful sin. The emphasis in this kind of teaching isn’t in overcoming, but in getting truly born-again, which I believe many really have been. Because being born-again is a decision we make, God giving us the grace in order to respond to His wooings. And walking with Christ is also a daily, even hourly decision we make. We can walk out of His hand. We can remove ourselves away from the Vine in order to do our own thing that we know He doesn’t approve of. Jesus in John 15 is very clear, and tells of the consequences if we were to die in that state.

We can become prodigal sons and daughters. We can forfeit our birthright. But we can also come back to Him, where He will run to us with open arms, where we can live safely in Christ.

It’s up to us, for we know what His will is: that all would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Jesus will always enable us to overcome. But it’s up to us to abide in Him, connected to the Vine, so His sap can flow through us where fruit will remain — so we won’t be thrown into the fire and burned.

The ball is in our court, not God’s.

God has sovereignly given us free will to determine our own fate. And I just don’t understand how pastors can think things are okay when the presence of God can hardly even be felt during group ‘worship.’ Shouldn’t that be a warning sign that something isn’t right, because God “resists the proud but gives grace to the humble?”

Why aren’t pastors relentless in figuring out what is wrong with us so God can move among us again as a group?

Most pastors are confidence men, telling the people “I’m okay; you’re okay,” when hardly anyone is okay with God, really — or we’d be ‘ONE,’ and the world would know. God’s grace would be so filling us. We’d be shouting for joy!!!

Let us be ‘ONE’!!!

May we be free in Him — demon and false-doctrine free. Then the world will know — John 17. Now, they smell a rat until we are holy.

They’ll know us by our love for another. OSAS does not compel us to walk in perfect love for one another so the glory of God can give us so much real, overcoming joy that the world will know!!!

Power to the peaceful!!!

Many Christian pastors and leaders today are erroneously reviving the divine-right-of-kings argument used in the Dark Ages, which created some of the most horrific human affairs in history. They, like the grandfather of Communism, Georg Hegel, argue that government is Divinely sanctioned to do anything it pleases and that God requires people to submit regardless of God’s standards of justice. This argument has been used by virtually every tyrant since Jesus’ life, including Adolf Hitler.

This false doctrine is doing more to bring America and the rest of the world into slavery than perhaps any other thing. Holders of this doctrine are creating self-fulfilling prophecies of America’s destruction–all in the name of Romans chapter 13.

This absurd interpretation of the Bible and Romans chapter 13 has not gone unchallenged: it is Romans 13-The True Meaning of Submission.

Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way | Who are the Children of God?

Are we supposed to be led by the Holy Spirit in our decisions?

I just wrote this in a comment on Facebook. I thought I’d share it here.

– –

There is an interesting example of someone who was led by the Holy Spirit, and we are supposed to walk like he did.

Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit when he walked on this earth, having emptied himself (Philippians 2). He said:

BY MYSELF I CAN DO NOTHING; I judge only AS I HEAR, and my judgment is just, for I SEEK NOT TO PLEASE MYSELF BUT HIM who sent me” (John 5:30).

“I tell you the truth, THE SON CAN DO NOTHING BY HIMSELF; he can do only what he sees his Father doing…” (John 5:19).

We are supposed to walk like Jesus did:

“But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live IN HIM must walk as Jesus did” (1 John 2:5).

In a paper that I wrote while attending seminary A Call to Intimacy: The Holy Spirit in John’s Gospel & Epistles, I say this:

Prophets in the Old Testament prophesied that Jesus would operate by the empowering of the Holy Spirit (Ps. 2:2; Isa. 11:1-5 ; 42:1,7; 61:1-3). The New Testament also witnesses to the fact that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35), LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT (Matt. 4:1, Mark. 1:12, Luke. 4:1), EMPOWERED to preach, cast out demons, and heal the sick BY THE HOLY SPIRIT (Matt. 12:28; Luke 4:14, 18, 19; 11:20), and resurrected by the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:11; 1 Pet. 3:18,19).

Jesus often went to lonely places to spend time with his father, so he would know what to do. His cry at Gethsemane was “Not my will, but yours be done.”

After he died, he sent the counselor, the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth so we could walk like Jesus did:

“But THE COUNSELOR, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS…” (John 14:26).

“But when he, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, comes, he will GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH…” (John 16:13).

“But YOU HAVE AN ANOINTING from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth…. But as HIS ANOINTING TEACHES YOU ABOUT ALL THINGS and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit –just as it has taught you, REMAIN IN HIM” (1 John 2:20,27).

Being led by the Holy Spirit is the normal Christian life.

From his comment (#3735) on [Video] Dan Corner Interview: The Believer’s Conditional Security

Excerpt:

My belief is that I accept the Bible as inspired by the Holy Spirit. I don’t think it likely that God The Holy Spirit speaks in suppositions or the hypothetical but rather in the stability of truth.

The Bible does warn about those who promote falsehood, Matt 7:15-16, 21-23; 2 Cor 11:13-15; 2 Tim 4:2-4; Rev 22:18-19 and other places. Manipulators, false teachers and false preachers, some even unaware themselves as being false, turn truth into pretzel-shaped distortions. Sometimes they dismiss bothersome passages as merely hypothetical or of some alleged supposition.

In all of this I think it’s a good idea for me to rely on the whole counsel of God.“Weeping and gnashing of teeth” means weeping and gnashing of teeth and “forever and ever” means what it says.

Jim Feeney: These Last Days Will Shake the Church

From: JimFeeney.org

The “last days”! These words bring apocalyptic images to the minds of many. But for the believer, the exciting focus is not the cataclysmic events prophesied to happen in the latter days, but the times of great Holy Spirit revival that will come upon the world and the Church.

[…]

•• Remember the “former glory” of just the last century or so? — Azusa Street! … the Latter Rain … Full Gospel Business Men … the healing revivals of the 1950s and 60s … the Charismatic Movement … the Jesus People …

•• Haggai 2:9, KJV “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former…”

•• The prophet Haggai said that the (re)building of the temple had ceased for 16 years, leading to years of fruitlessness. “Now”, he said, build the foundation and the house of the Lord, and as a result, “From this day on I [God] will bless you”!

•• Let us rebuild the Lord’s fallen house. Today’s blessings can exceed the former! The glory of the Church in the latter days can surpass that of the early Church.

Acts 2:16-21 (17) In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams…. (21) And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

•• We are living in the “last days” (Acts 2:16f; Hebrews 1:2). And we are drawing daily ever closer to the literal last days.

•• What should we expect? — An outpouring of the Holy Spirit … prophesying and other spiritual gifts to increase … heaven-sent visions and dreams … dramatic physical healings … multitudes saved

•• The first century had its great Pentecost. Our century should look for a great Pentecost, too!

Look what the NIV did to Romans 8:1 — They changed the entire meaning of the verse and leave no requirement or prerequisite to being free from condemnation! [Romans 8:1A is now an OSAS theme song, while verses 4-17 still say we must walk according to the Spirit, suffering with Christ to be heirs & children of God having ‘no condemnation’]

A Comparison Between the King James (KJV) &

The New International (NIV) Bibles

Romans 8:1

KJV “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

NIV “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,”

NIV leaves out “who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” It changes the entire meaning of the verse and leaves no requirement or prerequisite to being free from condemnation. In truth, the verse tells us that if you do walk in the flesh, then there is condemnation. They have taken that out, so that you won’t know the truth. (source).

[My Dream] Tithing? “No, it’s a Holy Spirit thing!!”

The Biblical basis for Holy-Spirit-led giving is in my article: The Day that Tithing Ended, to Now Be Led By the Holy Spirit — No-More-Tithing Scriptures

– –

I had this dream a little more than 20 years ago [~1989].

There was an open area between 3rd and 4th Avenues in downtown Anchorage, Alaska (where the Sunshine Plaza is) where a former elder of Abbott Loop Christian Center (ALCC and now called Abbott Loop Community Church) was speaking to a large crowd of people with over a PA system about tithing.

He was giving the reasons why, one by one — one of which is the claim that tithing was in effect before the law.

I was at the edge of the crowd, partly leaping while waiving my arms, trying to get their attention, saying loudly, “No, it’s a Holy Spirit thing!” Every time the speaker would give a point, this was my response.

Then I realized that the only way people would listen to me is if I wrote a book on tithing.

And the dream ended.

* * *

In 1999, I was given a prophecy about writing books, explained here:Intro: “Let Us Be ONE”

The head of the event had watched the prophet give me the prophecy (which was also a dream that he had), and asked me if I had ever felt led to write books. I shared with him my downtown-Anchorage-tithing dream….

When I did receive the “Let Us Be ONE” prophecy, which I think was supposed to be a published book, this small part was on tithing. In the new covenant, we are to be led by the Holy Spirit, which fulfills and supersedes the old covenant:

Let Us Be ONE, Part 8 of 33

10/3/01

Tithing or the Carriage Driver?

Give sheep a rest from all those things they do. Don’t put burdens on them.

Tithing is not Biblical. Tithing is from another era, before I gave My Son, before I died so you could be free. A new way, a better way has come, and it will give you life.

Churches are dead, living for themselves. Unity has not occurred. Get up and pray. Do not faint, and I will give you life.

Give by the Spirit’s desires. He will tell you what to do and who to minister to. The Holy Spirit is your friend. We are ONE, and We are in you, giving you life as you obey.

Do not be afraid of My leading. The problem with many is sin. Sin separates, and sin destroys the yoke.

The carriage must have a driver. Most drive themselves, unaware of My presence, unaware that I want to lead.

Renowned Pastor in Uganda with a “successful ministry” in saving many souls, many healed and many delivered was SHOCKED when JESUS told him “if I came today to take my Bride…I WOULD NOT TAKE YOU.” At that moment, he said “ALL HIS THEOLOGIES COULD NOT ACCEPT THAT”, but JESUS is still saying: “I WOULD NOT TAKE YOU.” Will YOU be like HIM when JESUS RETURNS?

Please watch the whole testimony, it will really make you think and hopefully bring you to your KNEES in HUMILITY in DEEP REPENTANCE.

There is so much lies and the spirit of the Anti-Christ floating around videos / FB messages / false grace preaching on the internet and in the churches that SOUNDS GOOD when in fact they are absolutely false. The devil is using these false teachings to MAKE MILLIONS OF CHRISTIANS (who think they are ready to see God) to be ABSOLUTELY LEFT BEHIND when all of this happens (which will be ANYTIME NOW). Please examine yourself honestly today, please everyone.

TIME IS OVER!

Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way | Who are the Children of God?

[video] Paul Washer Sermon Jam: The True Christian | My take: Most theologians are making it way too complicated, trying to fit their doctrine into one of two OSAS mathematical formulas — instead of Christianity being right relationships which come from truly abiding in the Son. If our consciences are clear NOW they’ll be clear THEN!

I just wrote this as a comment to this video (below) posted on Facebook (my Facebook page). It appears very good, but something isn’t quite right. Here is my take.

The warning part is VERY good, and sadly RARE these days; however, some of this seems misleading. Most theologians are making it way too complicated, trying to fit their doctrine into one of two mathematical formulas, instead of Christianity just being a right relationship which comes from truly abiding in the Son.

Who goes to heaven is simple. We need to be forgiven, because we’ve all sinned. And then by God’s grace (Holy Spirit enablement/empowerment) we must overcome sin so our consciences are clear before God and men, now, so when we see Him face to face we’ll be right with Him to enter, then. “Without holiness no one will see God.”

But today, there are these two, disinfo, once-saved-always-saved, misleading doctrines.

Most are teaching that we don’t actually have to be right with men to be right with God — because “it’s all about what Jesus did.” We can be holy *legally* without being holy *experientially.* Which is the main doctrine destroying America, in my opinion.

And then there is John Calvin’s “perseverance of the saints” doctrine, which seems to be what Paul Washer is talking about here. They believe that those who are truly born-again will persevere to never lose their salvation, and that those who don’t persevere were never truly born-again. So in their way of thinking, even when these truly born-againers willfully sin they’ll overcome in the long run so even if they died while willfully lusting/lying/hating they’d go to heaven?!!! This is a direct contradiction to what the Bible really teaches, which I prove here…:

Who-Goes-To-Heaven Scriptures — Narrow is the Way | Who are the Children of God? [I’m planning on pulling my $6,000 offer today, as this has been up for a year. I’ve proven my point.]

Real Christianity is resting in God, confident that we’re right with God and people because we really, experientially are — and if we’re not right, we better get right so we can rest in Christ again, assured of our salvation, having clean consciences —abiding in the Vine, living in the Son.

And when a group of us are doing this we’ll be in unity — or what Jesus called ‘ONE’ (John 17). Then the world will know, because He’ll give us His glory, like He has so many times before in the many revivals, which I think is just basic Christianity that didn’t last, because they didn’t realize that they needed to stay holy to be real going-to-heaven Christians.

1 Corinthians 10:6-13

Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” Neither let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell. Neither let us test the Lord, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents. Neither grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.

Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come. Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Only those with clean hands and a pure heart. … There are NO SHORT CUTS and there are NO OTHER PATHS. … Finally as we ascended to the very top…

A DREAM – THE FEAR OF THE LORD

Julie Meyer – August 2010

I had a dream. I had just parked my car at the International House Of Prayer parking lot and I was headed inside.  As I stepped out of the car to my amazement, I saw a large angel standing on top of the roof. He looked to be about 30 feet tall.  This angel stood on the corner of the building with a sword in His hand, pointing directly to the north. He did not move, but only pointed, resolute as a statue.  The Sword was shimmering.  It was brilliant and shinning. …

I found myself looking back and forth between the Angel pointing at the sky in the North and then looking at this Giant Sun full of the most vibrant colors. As I turned again and began to study the Angel holding this glimmering Sword I saw carved across the sword were five words in bold, black letters: The Fear of the Lord. This angel held his sword so assertively. He did not shy away from those words. He was bolstered by what they meant. If anything was true, the angel knew who God was.

In an instant I knew that the Fear of the Lord was coming ‘into’ His House.  The Awe of God was arising in a new Way throughout the earth and in His Body.

At that moment I was reminded of Exodus 20:20: “. . . that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.” Deep within my heart I heard the Holy Spirit say, The fear of the Lord is coming. The awe of the God of Israel is arising in the midst of the prayer movement. It is arising in the midst of My House.

All this happened even before I was inside the building. So when I walked through the front door of the prayer room, I was surprised to come face to face with a mountain that was veiled by dense fog.

Not every one was allowed to walk up this Great Mountain. Only those with clean hands and a pure heart. Everyone not allowed to ascend stood and looked up at the great, hidden mountain, wondering what was beyond the haze.

With great anticipation I began my journey. In silence myself and others ascended high into the cloud of gray, heavy vapor, unsure of what we would find or where we would stop. I and those walking with me could only see the next single step in front of us. In the cool gray breeze, I soon lost the sense that anyone else was with me.

As I approached nearer the top of this mountain, I realized I was literally walking ‘up’ the mountain of the Lord.  I was ‘in’ Ps 24.  I was ascending up and up and up.  I had to set my heart for the journey.  It was not easy but I could not stop walking up and up and up.  I was walking on a narrow path and I thought of Matt 7 –Strive to stay on the narrow path’.  It was a path well trodden and I pondered the Patriarchs of old who had walked them same path.

I had some baggage with me that I was carrying, but I realized I would never make it to the top of the mountain if I kept it with me.  So I took it off and laid it down.  I saw many people around me not want to take off their baggage, they wanted to keep it and they were not able to ascend up.  They stopped and started walking back down the mountain.

I came upon an old man with a ‘rod’ in his right hand.  He had a long white beard and long, wild, white hair past his shoulders. I noticed his face was set to go up.  He was not looking to the left of the right; His face was ‘set’.  He was not turning around or even grumbling about the steepness of the path.  I saw people in front of him begin to look for short cuts or different paths and they would get off of the path headed up trying to find an easier way.  This old man said ‘There are no short cuts and there are no other paths.  There is only one way and it is this path.  If you stay on it, it will lead you straight to the top.’  As he spoke; his words seemed to penetrate to the very core of my heart and I kept telling myself, ‘stay on the path, there are no short cuts, keep walking, keep walking.’   I happen to see a road sign and written on the sign were these words ‘The Pathway Of Humility’.  At that exact moment I realized I was literally walking this path with Moses. It was like in an instant my eyes were open to see the humility, the diligence, and the zeal of this man that seemed to give him great authority and presence.  He continued up the mountain saying those words over and over ‘There are no short cuts and there are no other paths.  There is only one way and it is this path.  If you stay on it, it will lead you straight to the top.”

Finally as we ascended to the very top of this magnificent mountain.  I saw Men and Women standing at the very top and crying out Psalm 24:7, “Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.”I realized ‘this’ is the place of great authority.  This is the place where we have the authority to cry out ‘Lift up your heads, O you gates!”  Many people get this invitation but few make the whole journey.

Fear Of God Has Been Lost In The Church — So MANY WON’T COME INTO FREEDOM — “Oh, so MANY people are GOING to go TO HELL through these churches. These PASTORS WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE” – David Wilkerson

[EXCELLENT video] Francis Chan & Preston Sprinkle: Erasing Hell — “He gets to define what love is, and not us.” “That means my sin is way worse than I could ever even imagine.” | ~”I think this whole concept of ‘how could God do this’ is woven into the fabric of our culture that says ‘how dare my dad tell me what I can and cannot do!’ We’ve lost the idea of authority, and it’s killing our culture.”

Francis Chan and Preston Sprinkle are coauthors of: Erasing Hell: What God said about eternity, and the things we made up, which I have read, and highly recommend; however, I was disappointed with one of their points. When Jesus mentions the worm that never dies and the fire that is never quenched, I do believe the worms and the fire is real, not figurative, which Mary Katherine Baxter experienced. She explains how the fires and utter darkness are fully compatible in that realm. It’s a place we don’t want to go, period!

I listened to the audio book a few times through. Francis wrote the final draft, but Preston narrates the text, which to me, isn’t ideal, since I’m used to hearing Francis express his own thoughts. But as you can see here, Preston is a great guy too!

There is one thing he says though…. Not wanting to go to hell is actually a good motivation for serving God and living a life in love, in Christ. Jesus, Himself used the threat of hell as a motivational warning. For example, on lusting:

27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old,  ‘You shall not commit adultery.’  28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

Very important topic and discussion!

“He gets to define what love is,
and not us.”

“We question things like ‘does a loving God torture those in hell?’ But I have another question. Does a fair God just forgive you for all the stuff that you did? Does a fair God let you escape hell? Does a fair God have His own Son come down and die for your sake? It’s weird how we’ll question ‘God, how could you punish anyone,’ but we never ask the question, ‘God, how could you forgive anyone?'”

“His thoughts are WAY BEYOND mine.”

“There’s just a sense of arrogance when I tell God ‘look,
this is right or this is wrong….'”

And Francis’ excellent statement @ 52:25 ends with:

“… And then when you disobey God, Himself, there are consequences to that. But the way that we teach love [to children – editor] has been: oh, you never punish; you never discipline; you never say ‘no.’ Just let them act out. It’s like: no, that’s not what God does. That’s not love.

So I think this whole concept of ‘how could God do this,’ it’s woven into the fabric of our culture that says ‘how dare my dad tell me what I can and cannot do.’ And we’ve lost the idea of authority all together, and it’s killing our families; it’s killing our churches; it’s killing our culture.”

– Francis Chan

Preston Sprinkle adds:

“When I think of hell, it’s made me kind of think of the enormity of our sin.
If God is at all just, and He says that the punishment for sin is hell,
that means my sin is way worse than I could ever even imagine.”

Meekness is Not Weakness — Jesus got angry at the right things at the right times. Meekness is power under control, part of the fruit of the Spirit.

From: SouthsideBC.org

MEEKNESS IS NOT WEAKNESS
Matthew 5:5

Psalm 37:1-11

Introduction: To many people a meek person has no “backbone”. To them a meek person let’s everybody run over them and stands up for nothing. That IS NOT what Jesus was referring to when he said, “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth”. Jesus was meek, but certainly no pushover. Matthew 11:28-30, 21:5. The word meek means to be “gentle”. According to John McArthur, “Meekness is gentleness and mildness, and a subdued character, but it is not weakness. It is power under control.” A meek person can be very powerful and very much in control. A meek person is capable of anger. Jesus got angry at the right things at the right times.

  • Jesus got angry with hypocrisy.
  • Jesus got angry with dishonest people who bought and sold in the temple (Mat. 21:13).

He did not get angry when:

  • He was betrayed in the garden.
  • He was falsely accused at His trials.
  • He was nailed to the cross.

Instead Jesus prayed for those who persecuted Him (Lk.23:34, Isa.53:7). As you know, Jesus had the power to fight against his enemies. He could have come down off the cross [I disagree, because of Jesus’ Phillipians-2 emptying and empowerment by the Holy Spirit, which I discuss here: A Call to Intimacy: The Holy Spirit in John’s Gospel & Epistles, by Jeff Fenske [D. A. Carson – Johannine Theology, 1993 – editor]. He could have resisted the mistreatment he had received. He had the power, as God, but didn’t use it. That’s power under control. So how do we go about developing meekness in our lives? First, we must realize that meekness is part of the Fruit of the Spirit. As we allow God’s Holy Spirit to control us, we are allowing God to perfect the fruit of meekness (Gal. 5:22-23). It would also be nice if there was a passage of Scripture that would give us an idea of how to develop meekness in our lives. Good news! There is! When the Lord Jesus talks about meekness, He is alluding to Psalm 37:11 “But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace”.

When you tell someone ‘do not judge’ you are being hypocritical

What does the Bible mean that we are not to judge others? — “First take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” What Jesus was condemning was hypocritical, self-righteous judgments of others

“TORAH OBSERVANT” – A DECEPTION??

“TORAH OBSERVANT” – A DECEPTION??

ANDREW’s NOTE: Below is an excellent study of this subject by Jim Pruitt. We already discussed the dangers of the ‘Hebrew Roots’ movement some time ago. I truly don’t mind people calling Jesus “Yeshua” – unless they want to force us all to do it. Paul certainly wrote in Greek, and “Iesous” (or ‘Jesus’) was the word he used. But Yeshua is fine too. However I certainly DO mind when people start telling Gentile Christians to become “Torah Observant” – back under the Old Law. This is deadly deception in my view – directly opposed to the New Testament. But this movement has been growing and we need to be aware of what the Bible clearly teaches on this subject. Jim Pruitt’s study below will help us do that-

The INSIDIOUS NATURE of FALSE DOCTRINE
-extracts by Jim Pruitt.

Three issues have popped up in other areas within the public arena and it is important to address them before they become defacto doctrine. In the first century some of the Jewish Christians sought to impose these behaviors on Gentile Christians and they were addressed in several places in the New Testament (most notably in Acts 15). They are the doctrinal view that all Christians should worship on Saturday (as opposed to Sunday), should abstain from non-kosher foods, and that the Jewish holidays and festivals should still be observed. Adherence to these behaviors were explicitly commanded by God of the Hebrews in the Old Testament and most were from the book of Leviticus.

However, when Christ came He fulfilled the law (Matthew 5:17-20) and “things which were a mere shadow of what was to come” were no longer applicable.

Here are verses which specifically address the Sabbath and Jewish holidays and festivals:

Colossians 2:16,17 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day–things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

Romans 14:5 One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.

John 9:16 Therefore some of the Pharisees were saying, “This man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath ” But others were saying, “How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And there was a division among them.

Mark 2:27 Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.”

If you read these verses without preconception (i.e., without a doctrine that you’re trying to rationalize), then their meaning is perfectly clear and self-explanatory. It’s wrong to consider someone as sinning because they don’t keep the Old Testament definition of the Sabbath. The Sabbath is made for man. If you want to consider every day holy then that’s fine. If you want to pick one day or a series of days as above others to worship God, then that’s fine, too. You won’t find any verses in the New Testament which contradict this.

Here are verses which specifically address food (in addition to Colossians 2:16,17):

Mark 7:18-20 And He said to them, “Are you so lacking in understanding also? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?” (Thus He declared all foods clean.) And He was saying, “That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man.”

1 Timothy 4:3-5 men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.

Romans 14:14 I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself…

Colossians 2:20-23 If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)–in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.

1 Corinthians 8:8 But food will not commend us to God; we are neither the worse if we do not eat, nor the better if we do eat.

Again, these verses are self-explanatory and you will find nothing in the New Testament which offers any contradictory stance concerning food. Jesus declared all foods clean. The dietary restrictions delineated in Leviticus no longer apply.

How Is It That You Compel The Gentiles To Live like Jews?

In Acts 15, Jewish Christians tried to get the Gentiles to follow their traditions. However, after a heated discussion between those who advocated having them observe Jewish customs and the Apostles (including Paul), they only advised them to keep a minimal set of rules. There was no mention of having them observe the Sabbath, restricting their diet to kosher foods, or observing Jewish holidays. In addition, in all of Paul’s epistles to the Gentiles, there is no mention of it. In fact, I can find no indication in the New Testament or in historical records of the early church of any time where Christian Gentiles were instructed to do so. If it is not mentioned much less commanded in the New Testament, why is it important for us to reinstitute it now?

Looking at these three issues brings to mind Galatians 2 where some Jews had secretly infiltrated the Gentile Christians in order to “spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to bring us into bondage.” When Paul met with the Apostles, Peter began to refuse to sit or speak with the Gentiles (which he would normally and which was against Jewish tradition) because he was trying to keep from offending the Jewish Christians who were present. But Paul wouldn’t let it slide:

Galatians 2:13-16 The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy. But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all, “If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews? We are Jews by nature and not sinners from among the Gentiles; nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.”

I find no evidence in the New Testament or in the early church histories where Gentile Christians worshipped on Saturday, ate only kosher foods, or observed Jewish holidays. Scripture clearly indicates that these subjects are a matter of personal choice and that we are not to allow anyone to try and bring us into bondage by saying that God’s Word says otherwise…

Q&A: Francis Chan on Rob Bell and Hell

Why ‘Erasing Hell’ was his most difficult book, how ‘Love Wins’ prompted repentance, and whether ‘Believe in Jesus or you’ll go to hell’ is good news.

Interview by Mark Galli

Erasing Hell: What God Said About Eternity, and the Things We’ve Made Up
by Francis Chan and Preston Sprinkle
David C. Cook, July 2010
192 pp., $14.99

Few books have generated as much theological conversation as Rob Bell’s Love Wins—and fewer still have sparked several response books within months of their appearance. Francis Chan, whose books Crazy Love and Forgotten God are still on bestseller lists, is a somewhat surprising addition to the pack with Erasing Hell. (Chan’s coauthor, Preston Sprinkle, is associate professor of biblical studies at Chan’s Eternity Bible College.) Christianity Today senior managing editor Mark Galli is the author of another of the response books, God Wins, and interviewed Chan last week.

In several places in your book, it’s clear that you are conflicted about even addressing this topic.

It’s weird. I’ve never felt a need to really respond to someone else’s writing. And yet reading Love Wins set a lot of things spinning in my mind. Some of it was concern, but some was doubt: Am I sure of what I believe? Let me go back and study. Several times in the middle of the night I couldn’t even sleep. I really believe the Lord wanted me to do this, but there is a wrestling on that point because I thought, “Gosh, that’s just not me. That’s not what I’m comfortable with. I really don’t think I’ll enjoy this at all. I’m not looking forward to all the backlash and everything else.”

The other side was that I was really hoping to discover some things I hadn’t discovered before—or maybe this was an opportunity to soften my stance on hell. I was hoping to find that in Scripture. And so when I didn’t it find it, it made me even more sick to my stomach.

[…]

When you say that your study caused you to realize that you had some sins to repent of, what type of things are you talking about?

As I reread the Gospel passages, Jesus’ words are much harsher than I remember. There’s a tone in some of the things that he said that are really difficult to stomach, and he says things in a way that I would not have.

Because we in America read certain passages over and over to the neglect of others, we start to believe that Jesus had a friendly tone all the time. And that there isn’t any wrath or anger or judgment. When you read it all like you are reading it for the first time, you walk away going, “Wow, he was pretty hardcore.”

Here’s what I had to repent of: I had felt the need to soften a lot of Jesus’ statements, because in my arrogance I think, “Okay Jesus, I’m not going to say that like that. Trust me, people will like you more and be more willing to accept you if I say it like this.” Obviously I’ve never said that to God. But that’s the attitude I’ve taken, and it made me sick. Who in the heck do I think I am? To think that I can make God more palatable or attractive if I try and change the tone in which he says some things. I know people say, “Well it’s just cultural this or that.” That’s garbage. People back then had a much deeper reverence for God than we do. Especially the religious community. Yet it’s to those people whom he speaks so harshly.

What in the world would he say to us today? I don’t think it’d be a softer message. I had to come before God and say, “Lord I feel sick.” And I confessed to Mark [Beuving, who edited the book] and Preston [Sprinkle, the coauthor] as we were working on the book, “I confess to you guys, I confess to the church, I know I have backed away from certain things because of my arrogance. I thought I could attract more people to Jesus by hiding certain things about him.” I had to confess my arrogance.

[…]

What do you think is the biggest misunderstanding contemporary Christians have about hell?

…the main thing is that we have tried to block [hell] out of our minds. Yet because it’s written about so often in Scripture, I think God does want it on the forefront.

[…]

I thought one of Rob Bell’s compelling statements was that sometimes we make the gospel sound like “Believe in Jesus or you’ll go to hell.” Which turns the gospel not into good news but into a threat. Have you thought about how we can talk about this reality without making it sound like a threat or spiritual extortion?

Well, that’s difficult. Because don’t you kind of get that when you read the Scriptures? That’s a struggle I have. When I read the Scriptures, it sure seems threatening. “Don’t fear man who can just kill your body. Fear God who can destroy your body and soul in hell.”

I see God in his love warning me of hell because he wants me to embrace him so badly. And I don’t see that as a bad thing. It’s like warning my kids about not being careful in crossing the street: “Do you understand what will happen?”

WHY HELL is INTEGRAL to THE GOSPEL — God declares himself to be compassionate and loving, but he also says, “Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished.” The Psalms declare that “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.” — Why is it that when people think about hell they conclude God must be at fault and not themselves?

WHY HELL is INTEGRAL to THE GOSPEL

-extracts by Greg Gilbert.

For some, the horror of the Christian doctrine of hell – that it is a place of eternal, conscious torment where God’s enemies are punished – has led them not just to avert their eyes and minds, but to deny it entirely. “Surely,” they say, “hell is a fictional construct used to oppress people with fear; a God of love would never allow such a place to really exist.”

There’s an emotional power to this argument, to be sure. No one, certainly no Christian, likes the idea of hell.

At the same time, this doctrine isn’t just drapery on the side of the Christian worldview, something with no relevance to the structure of the faith itself. Nor is the doctrine of hell an embarrassing, unnecessary, primitive wart that we believe just because we’re told we have to.

On the contrary, the doctrine and reality of hell actually throws the glory of the gospel into sharp relief for us. It helps us to understand just how great God really is, how sinfully wretched we really are, and how unutterably amazing it is that he would show us grace at all. Moreover, the reality of hell—if we don’t push it out of our minds—will focus us, above all, on the task of proclaiming the gospel to those who are in danger of spending eternity there.

With that in mind, here are five biblical statements about hell which, taken as a whole, demonstrate why hell is integral to the gospel.

WHY HELL is INTEGRAL to THE GOSPEL

1. Scripture teaches that there is a real place called hell. … At the most basic level, therefore, if we claim to be Christians and to believe that the Bible is the word of God, we have to recognize that the Bible teaches the reality of hell. But there’s more.

2. Hell shows us how heinous our sin really is. Have you ever heard someone make the argument that no human sin could possibly deserve eternal torment in hell? It’s an interesting argument, one that reveals a lot about the human heart. Why is it that when people think about hell, they always conclude that God must be at fault and not themselves? You can see how the doctrine reveals our hearts: when we consider our own sin, our first inclination is always to minimize it, to protest that it’s not that bad and that God is wrong to say it deserves punishment.

The reality of hell stands as a massive refutation of that self- justification. Non-Christians will always see the horrors of hell as an indictment of God, but as Christians who know God to be perfectly just and righteous, we must understand that the horrors of hell are actually an indictment of us. We may want to minimize our sin, or excuse it, or try to argue our consciences down. But the fact that God has declared that we deserve eternal torment for those sins should remind us that they are not small at all. They are enormously evil.

3. Hell shows us how immovably and unimpeachably just God really is… When God reveals himself to Moses, he declares himself to be compassionate and loving, but he also says, “Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished.” The Psalms declare that “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.” What an amazing statement! If God is to continue being God, he cannot simply set justice aside and sweep sin under the rug. He must deal with it – decisively and with exacting justice…

The Bible tells us that on that day, when God sentences his enemies to hell, the whole universe will recognize and acknowledge that what he has decided is unimpeachably just and right… Romans 9:22 tells us that by the torments of hell, God will “show his wrath and make his power known,” so that he might “make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy.”

We may not understand it fully now, but one day hell itself will declare God’s glory. It will—even in its horror—testify together with the psalmist, “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.”

4. Hell shows us how horrific the cross really was, and how great God’s grace really is. Romans 3 tells us that God put forth Jesus as a sacrifice of atonement “to demonstrate his justice.” He did this “because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished.”

Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? It was because that was the only way God could righteously not send every one of us to hell. Jesus had to take what was due to us, and that means he had to endure the equivalent of hell as he hung on the cross. That doesn’t mean that Jesus actually went to hell. But it does mean that the nails and the thorns were only the beginning of Jesus’ suffering. The true height of his suffering came when God poured out his wrath on Jesus. When the darkness fell, that wasn’t just God covering the suffering of his Son, as some have said. That was the darkness of the curse, of God’s wrath. It was the darkness of hell, and in that moment Jesus was enduring its full fury—the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.

When you understand the cross in that light, you begin to understand better just how magnificent God’s grace to you is, if you are a Christian. The mission of redemption that Jesus undertook involved a commitment to endure God’s wrath in your place, to take the hell that you deserve. What an amazing display of love and mercy that is! Yet you will only see and understand this display of love clearly when you understand, accept, and shudder at the horror of hell.

5. Hell focuses our minds on the task of proclaiming the gospel. If hell is real, and if people are truly in danger of spending eternity there, then there is no more urgent and important task than doing precisely what Jesus told his apostles to do before he ascended to heaven—proclaim to the world the good news that forgiveness of sins is offered through Jesus Christ!.. the one thing that Christians can do that no one else in the world is ever going to do is to tell people how they can be forgiven of their sin, how they can avoid spending an eternity in hell.

CONCLUSION

There is no doubt that the doctrine of hell is horrible. The doctrine is horrible because the reality is horrible. But that’s not a reason to avert our eyes and ignore it, much less to reject it. There are those who think that, by rejecting or at least ignoring the doctrine in their preaching, they are making God more glorious and more loving. Far from it! What they are really doing is unwittingly stealing glory from the Savior Jesus Christ, as if what he saved us from was… well, not so bad after all. In fact, the horrific nature of what we have been saved from only intensifies the glory of what we have been saved to. Not only so, but as we see ever more clearly the horror of hell, we look with ever more love, ever more gratitude, and ever greater worship to the One who endured that hell for us and saved us.
