LIST OF CATHOLIC HERESIES and HUMAN TRADITIONS

From: jesus-is-savior.com

LIST OF CATHOLIC HERESIES
And HUMAN TRADITIONS

ADOPTED and PERPETUATED by the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
IN THE COURSE OF 1600 YEARS

(Compiled by Rev. Stephen L. Testa)
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall
make you free.”
 —Jesus in John 8:32

Notice: These dates are in many cases approximate. Many of these heresies had been current in the Church years before, but only when they were officially adopted by a Church council and proclaimed by the pope as dogma of faith, did they become binding on Catholics.
And doctrine to be true must conform to the Word of God. “To the law and to the testimony; if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” (Isaiah 8:20)
At the Reformation in the 16th Century these heresies were repudiated as having no part in the Religion of Jesus as taught in the New Testament.

Heresy Date
OF ALL THE HUMAN TRADITIONS taught and practiced by the Roman Catholic Church, which are contrary to the Bible, the most ancient are the prayers for the dead and the sign of the Cross. Both began 300 years after Christ. 310
Wax Candles introduced in church 320
Veneration of angels and dead saints 375
The Mass, as a daily celebration, adopted 394
The worship of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and the use of the term, “Mother of God”, as applied to her, originated in the Council of Ephesus 431
Priests began to dress differently from the laity 500
Extreme Unction 526
The doctrine of Purgatory was first established by Gregory the Great 593
The Latin language, as the language of prayer and worship in churches, was also imposed by Pope Gregory I. 600 years after Christ
The Word of God forbids praying and teaching in an unknown tongue. (1st Corinthians 14:9).
600
The Bible teaches that we pray to God alone. In the primitive church never were prayers directed to Mary, or to dead saints. This practice began in the Roman Church.
(Matthew 11:28; Luke 1:46; Acts 10:25-26; 14:14-18)
600
The Papacy is of pagan origin. The title of pope or universal bishop, was first given to the bishop of Rome by the wicked emperor Phocas.
This he did to spite Bishop Ciriacus of Constantinople, who had justly excommunicated him for his having caused the assassination of his predecessor emperor Mauritius. Gregory 1, then bishop of Rome, refused the title, but his successor, Boniface III, first assumed title “pope.”
Jesus did not appoint Peter to the headship of the apostles and forbade any such notion. (Luke 22:24-26; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18; 1st Corinthians 3:11).
Note: Nor is there any mention in Scripture, nor in history, that Peter ever was in Rome, much less that he was pope there for 25 years; Clement, 3rd bishop of Rome, remarks that “there is no real 1st century evidence that Peter ever was in Rome.”
610
The kissing of the Pope’s feet
It had been a pagan custom to kiss the feet of emperors. The Word of God forbids such practices. (Read Acts 10:25-26; Revelation 19:10; 22:9).
709
The Temporal power of the Popes
When Pepin, the usurper of the throne of France, descended into Italy, called by Pope Stephen II, to war against the Italian Lombards, he defeated them and gave the city of Rome and surrounding territory to the pope. Jesus expressly forbade such a thing, and He himself refused worldly kingship. (Read Matthew 4:8-9; 20:25-26; John 18:38).
750
Worship of the cross, images and relics was authorized
This was by order of Dowager Empress Irene of Constantinople, who first caused to pluck the eyes of her own son, Constantine VI, and then called a church council at the request of Hadrian I, pope of Rome at that time.
Such practice is called simply IDOLATRY in the Bible, and is severely condemned. (Read Exodus 20:4; 3:17; Deuteronomy 27:15; Psalm 115).
788
Holy Water, mixed with a pinch of salt and blessed by the priest, was authorized 850
The veneration of St. Joseph began 890
The baptism of bells was instituted by Pope John XIV 965
Canonization of dead saints, first by Pope John XV
Every believer and follower of Christ is called saint in the Bible. (Read Romans 1:7; 1st Colossians 1:2).
995
Fasting on Fridays and during Lent were imposed
Imposed by popes said to be interested in the commerce of fish. (Bull, or permit to eat meat), some authorities say, began in the year 700. This is against the plain teaching of the Bible. (Read Matthew 15:10; 1st Corinthians 10:25; 1st Timothy 4:1-3).
998
The Mass was developed gradually as a sacrifice; attendance made obligatory in the 11th century.
The Bible teaches that the sacrifice of Christ was offered once and for all, and is not to be repeated, but only commemorated in the Lord’s Supper. (Read Hebrews 7:27; 9:26-28; 10:10-14).
The celibacy of the priesthood was decreed by Pope Hildebrand, Boniface VII
Jesus imposed no such rule, nor did any of the apostles. On the contrary, St. Peter was a married man, and St. Paul says that bishops were to have wife and children. (Read 1st Timothy 3:2,5, and 12; Matthew 8:14-15).
1079
The Rosary, or prayer beads was introduced by Peter the Hermit, in the year 1090. Copied from Hindus and Mohammedans
The counting of prayers is a pagan practice and is expressly condemned by Christ. (Matthew 6:5-13).
1090
The Inquisition of heretics was instituted by the Council of Verona in the year 1184. Jesus never taught the use of force to spread His religion 1184
The sale of Indulgences, commonly regarded as a purchase of forgiveness and a permit to indulge in sin.
Christianity, as taught in the Bible, condemns such a traffic and it was the protest against this traffic that brought on the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century.
1190
The dogma of Transubstantiation was decreed by Pope Innocent III, in the year
By this doctrine the priest pretends to perform a daily miracle by changing a wafer into the body of Christ, and then he pretends to eat Him alive in the presence of his people during Mass. The Bible condemns such absurdities; for the Lord’s Supper is simply a memorial of the sacrifice of Christ. The spiritual presence of Christ is implied in the Lord’s Supper. (Read Luke 22:19-20; John 6:35; 1st Corinthians 11:26).
1215
Confession of sin to the priest at least once a year was instituted by Pope Innocent III., in the Lateran Council
The Bible commands us to confess our sins direct to God. (Read Psalm 51:1-10; Luke 7:48; 15:21; 1st John 1:8-9).
1215
The adoration of the wafer (Host), was decreed by Pope Honorius
So the Roman Church worships a God made by human hands. This is plain idolatry and absolutely contrary to the spirit of the Gospel. (Read John 4:24).
1220
The Bible forbidden to laymen and placed in the Index of forbidden books by the Council of Valencia
Jesus commanded that the Scriptures should be read by all. (John 5:39; 1st Timothy 3:15-17).
1229
The Scapular was invented by Simon Stock, and English monk
It is a piece of brown cloth, with the picture of the Virgin and supposed to contain supernatural virtue to protect from all dangers those who wear it on naked skin. This is fetishism.
1287
The Roman Church forbade the cup to the laity, by instituting the communion of one kind in the Council of Constance
The Bible commands us to celebrate the Lord’s Supper with unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine. (Read Matthew 26:27; 1st Corinthians 11:26-29).
1414
The doctrine of Purgatory was proclaimed as a dogma of faith by Council of Florence
There is not one word in the Bible that would teach the purgatory of priests. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sins. (Read 1st John 1:7-9; 2:1-2; John 5:24; Romans 8:1).
1439
The doctrine of 7 Sacraments affirmed
The Bible says that Christ instituted only two ordinances, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. (Read Matthew 28:19-20; 26:26-28).
1439
The Ave Maria, part of the last
It was completed 50 years afterward and finally approved by Pope Sixtus V, at the end of the 16th century.
1508
The Council of Trent, held in the year 1545, declared that Tradition is of equal authority with the Bible
By tradition is meant human teachings. The Pharisees believed the same way, and Jesus bitterly condemned them, for by teaching human tradition, they nullified the commandments of God. (Read Mark 7:7-13; Colossians 2:8; Revelation 22:18).
1545
The apocryphal books were added to the Bible also by the Council of Trent
These books were not recognized as canonical by the Jewish Church. (See Revelation 22:8-9).
1546
The Creed of Pope Pius IV was imposed as the official creed 1560 years after Christ and the apostles
True Christians retain the Holy Scriptures as their creed. Hence their creed is 1500 years older than the creed of Roman Catholics. (Read Galatians 1:8).
1560
The Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary was proclaimed by Pope Pius IX
The Bible states that all men, with the sole exception of Christ, are sinners. Mary herself had need of a Savior. (Read Romans 3:23; 5:12; Psalm 51:5; Luke 1:30,46,47).
1834
In the year 1870 after Christ, Pope Pius IX proclaimed the dogma of Papal Infallibility
This is a blasphemy and the sign of the apostasy and of the antichrist predicted by St. Paul. (Read 2nd Thessalonians 2:2-12; Revelation 17:1-9; 13:5-8,18).
Many Bible students see the number of the beast (Rev. 13:18), 666 in the Roman letters of the Pope’s title: “VICARIVS FILII DEI.” — V-5, I-1; C-100, I-1; V-S, I-1; L-50, I-1; I-1; D-500, I-l — Total, 666.
1870
Pope Plus X, in the year 1907, condemned together with “Modernism”, all the discoveries of modern science which are not approved by the Church
Pius IX had done the same thing in the Syllabus of 1864.
1907
In the year 1930 Pius XI, condemned the Public Schools 1930
In the year 1931 the same pope Pius XI, reaffirmed the doctrine that Mary is “the Mother of God”
This doctrine was first invented by the Council of Ephesus in the year 431. This is a heresy contrary by Mary’s own words. (Read Luke 1:46-49; John 2: l-5).
1931
In the year 1950 the last dogma was proclaimed by Pope Pius XII, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary 1950

CONCLUSION
What will be the next invention? The Roman Church says it never changes; yet, it has done nothing else but invent new doctrines which are contrary to the Bible, and has practiced rites and ceremonies taken bodily from paganism. Some scholar has found that 75% of the rites and ceremonies of the Roman Church are of pagan origin.
Note: Cardinal Newman, in his book, “The Development of the Christian Religion,” admits that … “Temples, incense, oil lamps, votive offerings, holy water, holidays and season of devotions, processions, blessing of fields, sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure (of priests and monks and nuns), images … are all of pagan origin…” (Page 359).
HERESIES are those doctrines and practices which are contrary to the Bible. They are also called “human traditions” or “doctrines of men”. Both Peter and Paul predicted and warned that in the later times “false teachers” would rise within the Church and bring in “damnable heresies” and “doctrines of devils”. (Read 2nd Peter 2:1-3, and 1st Timothy 3:2-5). Jesus rebuked the Pharisees, for they transgressed the commandments of God by keeping their traditions. “in vain,” He said, “they worship me by keeping for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:3,9).
The real heretics therefore, are the Roman Catholics and the true orthodox are the Evangelical Christians.
BRETHREN! The Word of God commands us to get out of Babylon, saying: “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” (Revelation 18:4). All true Christians will remain faithful to the religion of Christ as taught in the Bible, and heed the warning of the Apostle Paul, who said: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8).

Ben Woodward: It was all worth it

This is the guitarist that was so hot here:

There is A RIVER, the streams of which make the city of God glad! “Drink from THE WELL that will never run dry! Drink from THE WELL that will never run dry! Drink from THE WELL that will never run dry!!!”

It’s nice to see this maximum-effects-processor guitar style used in a worship song.
A few days ago, they played a similar set that was really nice (this is a bit depressing, actually)!! I played it over and over! Ben led from the keyboard, instead of guitar.

Phillips, Craig & Dean – Revelation Song

Uploaded by  on Aug 12, 2009

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Holy, holy is He
Sing a new song, to Him who sits on
Heaven’s mercy seat
Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You
I will adore You
Clothed in rainbows, of living color
Flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor, strength and glory and power be
To You, the only wise King, yeah
Filled with wonder, awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your name
Jesus, Your name is power, breath, and living water
Such a marvelous mystery, yeah

Santa Claus: The Great Imposter — "Ho! Ho! Ho! I Am God" — Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent | Santa = Satan; elves = demons | Saint Nicholas never existed?

Most children believe that that Santa is real, and a really big deal! They are taught to fear him and to worship him instead of God.
Teaching children to worship a type of the Devil instead of God is flat out wrong. It’s lying to our children about who our spiritual father is. And the impact on adulthood, from being taught to fear and obey this false God could have all kinds of profound effects, including rejecting God outright.
During this time, they should be learning the truth about God, instead.
The article shows how impactful Santa is to many children. These effects are HUGE!:

He KNOWS if you’ve been good or bad.”

To the average child – Santa can do anything.

Isn’t it amazing what these little children actually believe “with all their heart” about their great god and saviour Santa?

“Satan is accomplishing EXACTLY what he desired.

“Satan’s ultimate goal is worship. And millions of children are lovingly giving him their God-given child-like faith. They love their Santa! They worship their Santa!

Isn’t it amazing what these little children actually believe “with all their heart” about their great god and saviour Santa?

. . . every one of us shall give account of himself to. . . (Romans 14:12)

Santa.

He’s making a list, He’s checking it twice
He’s gonna find out Who’s naughty or nice
.

Excerpts from:

.

THE CONCERN And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. John 9:42

.
Who, REALLY, is this man we affectionately call Santa Claus?

What do we REALLY know about Santa?

Is Santa just a jolly, harmless, friendly fellow?

Or is there something or someone else hiding behind jolly ol’ St. Nick?

___________

The first major problem in the Santa Claus saga is the person of St. Nicholas. There is very little evidence, if any, that the man St. Nicholas actually existed.

Nicholas’ existence is not attested by any historical document, so nothing certain is known of his life except that he was probably bishop of Myra in the fourth century. . .
(“Nicholas, Saint” Encyclopaedia Britannica 99)Nicholas, Saint (lived 4th century), Christian prelate, patron saint of Russia, traditionally associated with Christmas celebrations. The accounts of his life are confused and historically unconfirmed.
(“Nicholas, Saint” Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia 99)
Unfortunately, very little is known about the real St. Nicholas. Countless legends have grown up around this very popular saint, but very little historical evidence is available. (Del Re, Gerard and Patricia. The Christmas Almanack. New York: Random House, 2004, p. 130)

In 1969, the final nail in the coffin to the feeble fable of St. Nicholas was officially hammered down. Despite the fact, St. Nicholas is among Roman Catholicism’s most popular and venerated “Saints,” Pope Paul VI officially decreed the feast of Saint Nicholas removed from the Roman Catholic calendar. UPI Wire Services reported that St. Nicholas and forty other saints were deleted because “of doubt that they ever existed.” (“Pope Marches 40 Saints Off Official Church Calendar.” UPI Wire Services. )

__________

Previously, we established the peculiar fact that today’s Santa Claus and St. Nicholas are not the same. They never have been. Santa Claus is dressed in a long shaggy beard, furs, short, burly and obese. The legends of St. Nicholas portrayed a thin, tall, neatly dressed man in religious apparel. You could not possibly find two different characters.

If Nicholas, the ascetic bishop of fourth-century Asia Manor, could see Santa Claus, he would not know who he was. (Del Re, Gerard and Patricia. The Christmas Almanack. New York: Random House, 2004, pp. 138,141)So the legends of Saint Nicholas afford but a slight clew to the origin of Santa Klaus,–alike, indeed, in name but so unlike in all other respects. (Walsh, William S. The Story of Santa Klaus. Detroit: Gale Research Company, 1970, p. 54)

The startling fact is, Santa Claus is not the Bishop St. Nicholas – but his Dark Helper!

In certain German children’s games, the Saint Nicholas figure itself is the Dark Helper, a devil who wants to punish children, but is stopped from doing so by Christ. (Renterghem, Tony van. When Santa Was a Shaman. St. Paul: Llewellyn Publications, 1995, p. 105)
Black Pete, the ‘grandfather’ of our modern Santa Claus. Known in Holland as Zwarte Piet, this eighteenth-century German version, is—like his ancient shamanic ancestor—still horned, fur-clad, scary, and less than kind to children. Although portrayed as the slave helper of Saint Nicholas, the two are, in many villages, blended into one character. This figure often has the name Nikolass or Klaus, but has the swarthy appearance of the Dark Helper. (Renterghem, Tony van. When Santa Was a Shaman. St. Paul: Llewellyn Publications, 1995, p. 98)

___________

While Santa and Claus may be disguising their real meaning – there is no disguising St. Nick. He is a well-known character.

Old Nick: A well-known British name of the Devil. It seems probable that this name is derived from the Dutch Nikken, the devil
(Encyclopedia of Occultism and Parapsychology, p.650)
Nick, the devil.
(Walter W. Sleay, Concise Dictionary of English Etymology, p. 304)
Devil: Besides the name Satan, he is also called Beelzebub, Lucifer . . . and in popular or rustic speech by many familiar terms as Old Nick . . .
(Oxford English Dictionary Vol III D-E)

___________

Santa’s Little Helpers?

Santa has some cute little helpers called elves. Webster’s Dictionary has an interesting definition for the friendly elf:

ELF
1. A wandering spirit; a fairy; a hobgoblin; an imaginary being which our rude ancestors supposed to inhabit unfrequented places, and in various ways to affect mankind. . .
2. An evil spirit; a devil.
(Webster’s Dictionary “elf”)

____________

Oh, how he loves the little children.

All the children of the world.
Red and yellow, black and white,
They are precious in his site.
Santa loves the little children of the world.

They stand in line to sit in his loving lap. They get their picture with Santa. They tell Santa their most intimate secrets.

They love their Santa – because he first loved them.

Is there something slightly familiar with this picture?

13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Mark 10:13-14

We love him, because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19

Satan is accomplishing EXACTLY what he desired.

Satan’s ultimate goal is worship. And millions of children are lovingly giving him their God-given child-like faith. They love their Santa! They worship their Santa!

___________

Santa is All Knowing – He is Omniscient

He knows. . .ALL

He KNOWS when you’re awake
He KNOWS if you’ve been good or bad.”

___________

Santa is Everywhere – He is Omnipresent

Santa miraculously visits millions of children, all across the world, in one “quick as a wink” night. “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. . .” (1 Cor. 15:52) – Santa appears – all over the world!

___________

Santa is All-Powerful – He is Omnipotent

To the average child – Santa can do anything. The following are actual letters to Santa from children, taken from a local newspaper.

___________

Their Santa NEVER fails!

In one night, the all-powerful, Santa delivers millions and millions of gifts to children all around the world. Who could do that? Now, who REALLY believes that? That little child who has been preached to about Santa. That is who. They believe it. Just ask one. Nothing is too hard for their Santa. If the Christian world had, even a small drop of the faith the average child has in Santa – we’d have revival overnight!

Isn’t it amazing what these little children actually believe “with all their heart” about their great god and saviour Santa?

___________

. . . every one of us shall give account of himself to. . . (Romans 14:12)

Santa.

He’s making a list, He’s checking it twice
He’s gonna find out Who’s naughty or nice

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to. . . Santa?

Look at the Tree
Imagine a snake
and what do you see ?

The snake drapes and slithers
and slips round the bend
Like garland that decorates
the tree in your den

Coiled around
in a slight curvy way
Like the garland on Fir Trees
that you see Christmas day

Oh but he’s clever
in camouflage wear
he’ll wrap round your tree
but you won’t see him there

You Probably Know This Woman!

Issue Date: January/February 2007
By David W. Daniels

To the Aztecs, she was known as Tlazolteotl (TLAS-ohl-tay-OH-tul), the goddess of filth, gambling, prostitution and witchcraft, among other things. She was also known to the Aztecs as Coatlicue (co-AT-li-KWAY).

In the form of Coatlicue, she was a “virgin goddess” who became pregnant. The son she bore was supposed to be Huitzilopochtli (WHIT-sil-oh-POHKT-lee), the chief god of the Aztecs, reincarnated as a baby.

She was the goddess of the moon and of the morning/evening star (Venus). People who spoke different languages called her by other names. Some of them are Hecate, Astarte, Aphrodite, Venus, Isis, Semiramis and Ishtar (The fertility goddess which is where we derive the word Easter). Note: Easter is the first Sunday after the first new moon of another pagan holiday known as Ostara which March or 21st or 22nd. The Goddess Ostara (AKA: Ishtar), for whom “Easter” is named — Ostara as well as Easter is one of the Illuminati’s Human Sacrifice Nights

She is also known as the Roman Catholic “Virgin Mary” goddess.

Her son had many names as well. Some of them are Horus, Harpocrates, Mithras, Sol Invictus, Hercules, Attis and Tammuz. What do these god-babies have in common? Well, for one, they were all born on December 25th.  Which is where we derive the pagan celebration of Christmas from, which was originally known by the Romans as Saturnalia.  December 21-22 — Winter Solstice/Yule. One of the Illuminati’s Human Sacrifice Nights December 21- 22 — Yule — When the sun begins its northward trek in the sky, and days began to grow longer again, pagans celebrated the Winter Solstice by burning the Yule log. Since the sun had reversed itself and was now rising in the sky, pagans believed this was a sign that the human sacrifices carried out in Samhain (Halloween) had been accepted by the gods. The Roman Catholic Church later changed the day of celebration to December 25, calling it Christmas.

Roman Catholicism  is a demonic blend of ancient pagan religions made to look like Christianity.

[…]

Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Church. It was celebrated, commemorated, or observed, neither by the apostles nor in the apostolic church — not for at least the first 300 years of church history!

Linus of Rome: The generally touted Catholic position is that Linus was the second pope…

From: cogwriter

Linus of Rome

Who was Linus? Did he know the Apostle Paul? Was he the first pope? Was he the second bishop of Rome after the Apostle Peter? Was he even a bishop?

The generally touted Catholic position is that Linus was the second pope, that he was ordained by Peter, and that all other leaders passed through him (Lopes A. The Popes: The lives of the pontiffs through 2000 years of history. Futura Edizoni, Roma, 1997, p. 1).

Is any of that correct?

This article will refer to the Bible, historical records, and Roman Catholic sources to attempt to properly answer those questions.

[…]

Conclusion

What do we actually know based upon the Bible and historical fact?

There was once a Christian named Linus who knew the Apostle Paul. Linus, at least for a time, lived in Rome. The Bible does not record that Linus was the obvious future leader of all Christians. Linus was NOT an apostle, NOT a pope, and NOT even a bishop.

We have no real information about his life, his teachings, or his death.

Most of the traditions ascribed to him have been admitted by Roman Catholic scholars to be in error, with others admitted to be without historical foundation. And many accounts are in contradiction.

Contemporary history records nothing about him, other than Paul’s mention, and later Irenaeus lists him (over one hundred years after his death).

The only Linus we know of was a Christian who lived and served in Rome, but of whom we have no reason to believe he was the spiritual successor of Peter. Therefore the often repeated Roman claim that they have an unbroken line of successors from Peter beginning with Linus is historically inaccurate.

Was Peter the 1st Pope? Who is The ROCK Upon Whom the Church is Built? Peter wanted no part of this FALSE WORSHIP! What Did Peter Do? WWPD?

Transcribed by Jeff Fenske

“If the apostle Peter was alive today, what would Peter think of the teachings of Catholicism?

Cornelius loved Peter and fell down at his feet. Now the Pope loves and expects that, doesn’t he? He loves to have people falling down at his feet, kissing his hand and worshiping. But what of Peter, who they say was the first pope. What did he do?

Peter grabbed Cornelius. He pulled him up and said: ‘stand up!’ Peter wanted no part of this false worship.

He declared: ‘I, myself, also am a man.'”

Wes Hall: IHOPU Awakening Testimony — "I was leading that first class … We had some SKEPTICS who came in … I WAS ONE of them" — "THAT RIVER that flows from the throne"

Transcribed by Jeff Fenske

I tried to get a hold of the worship leader to come and lead us in a worship song, because, you know, when we worship Jesus the flesh kind of dies down. But what happened:

We began worshiping Jesus and His activity intensified!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBXACTfrYQE]IHOP Awakening Wes Hall Testimony

The Lord showed up at our classes at IHOPU, and began releasing His joy, began releasing a fresh window of His presence and setting many of our students free from chains of self-hatred and shame, and encountering those who never encountered the love of the Father in a real meaningful way. The love of the Father was a concept, but now it has become a reality.

And we had some skeptics who came in. In fact, I was one of them. I was leading that first class, and things started getting a little bit crazy in the class — and I’m the provost of the university. And I was holding onto this podium and I couldn’t stand up. I was pinned to the floor.

And the class was going crazy. There were some of the most sensible students rolling on the floor, laughing for about an hour and a half.

And I thought, you know what, this has got to be mostly the flesh and a little bit the Holy Spirit.

And so I tried to get a hold of the worship leader to come and lead us in a worship song, because, you know, when we worship Jesus the flesh kind of dies down. But what happened: we began worshiping Jesus and His activity intensified.

I was like, ‘okay, You’re doing something unique here.’ And so the Lord began touching some of us who pride ourselves on being sedate and in our right mind for the gospel.”

Ezekiel 47 speaks of the River that flows from the throne of God. And it says it’s a River of Life, and it’s a river that brings life and it brings healing wherever it goes. The Lord says I’m releasing My Holy Spirit. I’m releasing that River that flows from the throne of God. It starts at the throne of God.

And the Holy Spirit is not a thing. He’s a person. He is God. And He’s pictured as a river, but it doesn’t mean you can scoop Him or do backstroke in Him — because He is God.

But He comes like a river to bring life to the barren areas of our hearts. And He’s come because He wants to flow like a river, not just in us, but through us. But until we encounter the life of the Spirit in our inner man, that River is like damned up. It comes into us but it never flows through us.

And if you study Ezekiel 47, you will see that that river flows from the throne, and it ends up in the sea. And it brings life to the sea. And in the sea is suddenly a multitude of fish.

The Lord says that I want that River of Life to flow in you, to break down every barrier to My love, to break down every barrier to you being who I created you to be.

We have testimony after testimony after testimony of how the Lord has released His life in new ways. In an instant, deliverance from demonic affliction; in an instant, deliverance from years of addiction, same-sex attraction; deliverance in an instant from eating disorders, self-hatred, shame — things that have taken years years of counseling. In an instant, the Holy Spirit has come with His power and set people free and set hearts free.

And sometimes when the Holy Spirit touches us, He reacts in a funny way with our bodies….”

Wes Hall: Why do people laugh and shake under the power of God? | "The Lord has released a revelation of the Father's love I'll never forget"

Transcribed by Jeff Fenske from IHOP Student Awakening, 12/18/09
Wes Hall explains some of what has been going on for six weeks now at IHOP (International House of Prayer). It was in Wes’ classroom that the revival broke out:

When the Holy Spirit hits your body, sometimes your body does unusual things, because we’re not talking about 50,000 volts [he had just explained what it felt like to be personally hit with a taser during a recent security demonstration], we’re talking about very God interacting with your human body to set you free from bondages and sicknesses and depression and all manner of things. And sometimes your body can’t handle the power that is needed to set you free, and you start shaking and laughing and doing funny things.”

______________

The Lord has released a revelation of the Father’s love I’ll never forget.

The first day that this awakening began, a young man comes shaking up to the platform. … I said, ‘do you normally do this?’ He said, ‘no, I made fun of everybody who used to do this. I thought it was flaky and weird.’ And he goes, ‘I can’t stop.’

And I said, ‘what has the Lord done for you?’ He said, ‘I have three dads’ — he is one of our students here — ‘I’ve had three fathers during my life. ‘I have never understood the love of the Father experientially in my life. I’ve never understood it. It’s never been a reality to me.’

He goes, ‘I’ve been to every person’s Father-heart seminar and paid tons of money to get the revelation of the Father, and it never took.

And he said in a moment, God broke in and revealed Himself as a father to him. And he says, ‘and I just can’t stop shaking under the power of God.’

What weeks and decades of inner healing couldn’t do the Lord has done in a moment.

The Lord has set free pastors who have been in ministry for years — those who have preached on the love of God — those who have ministered to people from shame and self-hatred, but themselves never felt the love of God. And the Lord in an instant has set them free.”

______________

Who wants to be so caught up in His love that you don’t even care about yourself anymore?

You don’t even care about yourself anymore. All you care about is Jesus. You’re clothed with His love and His power.

And as Shelly is gonna share, we’re going to be riding in the front seat, not in the back seat on a stretcher.”

Wes Hall: IHOPU Awakening Testimony — “I was leading that first class … THAT RIVER that flows from the throne”

Your River rushes to the lowest place

Some of the lyrics from a song gloriously sung tonight at the IHOPU revival, transcribed by me, based on the principle that will always be true: “God resists the proud, but GIVES GRACE to the humble.”

Your River rushes to the lowest place

I’ve gotta get lower, lower
I’ve gotta go deeper, deeper
The River flows!

I bow down
I get lower
I open up my heart to receive your love

A Biblical altar call = Wes Hall: Do you want to be free from that heavy yoke? The way out of that prison is by making Jesus Lord: "I am going to follow Him instead of follow my own ways for the rest of my life."

Transcribed by Jeff Fenske

“I just felt like there are some here. You are under that dark cloud. You are under that heavy yoke. But you don’t actually know Jesus. You’ve never said, ‘Yes’ to Jesus.

Do you want to be free from that yoke? You can be, but only in Jesus. It is the power of His blood of what He did on the cross, when He died and rose again. When He died, He took our penalty on Himself.

He died so that we might have life. He died to rescue us from ourselves, to rescue us from the penalty of our sin and our rebellion. And there is freedom in His name.

That heavy yoke, that heavy spirit will be broken off you when you confess ‘Jesus is Lord.’ He will deliver you from that — scripture calls it ‘bondage to sin.’ You feel like you’re in a prison all the time. You feel fear stalks you in the day and at night.

The way out of that prison is by making Jesus Lord — by confessing that He is Lord — and by saying:I am going to follow Him instead of follow my own ways for the rest of my life.’

You can say ‘yes’ to Jesus, tonight. You don’t have to wait another minute.”

I’m encouraged!
A song with The River theme was HOT at the IHOP revival last night! And then they sang “YOU are Good” — my favorite song from John Tesh’s Worship at Red Rocks. (Red Rocks Platinum is still available for $12 — 2 CDs & 1 DVD!)

Lord You are good
And Your mercy endureth forever

You are good, all the time
All the time, You are good

Red Rocks was good, but this last 45 minutes of today’s 6-hour revival was INCREDIBLY, POWERFULLY WONDERFUL!!!!!!! I probably watched it 5 times already (possible for subscribers).
Worship leader was Matt Gilman. Awesome job! All the glory to God!!! Everyone was having so much fun — clean fun! And the lead guitarist— WOW!! I hope The Edge gets to see this. This is how U2 concerts should be — clean, with hearts magnifying God! And…
And Jesus was clearly smiling too; and smiling on — empowering — making this night sooooooo special!!!!!!!
And then the clapping sounded like Riverdance!!!
It would be great if IHOP would put together a best-of DVD set, or post some of this online. If anyone finds key footage somewhere, please let me know.
May God’s people arise!

Drink from THE WELL that will never run dry!
Drink from THE WELL that will never run dry!
Drink from THE WELL that will never run dry!!!

Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas;

3 though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling. Selah.

4 There is a river, the streams of which make the city of God glad, the holy place of the tents of the Most High.

5 God is in her midst. She shall not be moved. God will help her at dawn.

6 The nations raged. The kingdoms were moved. He lifted his voice, and the earth melted.

7 Yahweh of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

IHOP revival leader on God's provision during martyrdom: "When we're in the presence of the Lord, martyrdom doesn't seem like such a bad deal"

Transcribed by Jeff Fenske from the live broadcast of the IHOPU Student Awakening, 12/12/09

“I turned to Allen the other day and I said, ‘you know what? When we’re in the presence of the Lord, martyrdom doesn’t seem like such a bad deal.’

When you’re living in the glory of God, you can understand how Steven, he’d been stoned. He looks up and goes ‘forget about the stoning. I see the Son of Man standing at the right hand of the Most High!‘”

2 Cor. 1:3-5

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ.

1 Cor. 10:13

No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
