The Captain in Complete Control

You know, it had to be a rather peculiar moment in Noah’s life when God told him to build an ark because it was going to rain. God said, “For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made” (Genesis 7:4, NKJV). Noah had never seen or heard of rain. It had never rained on the earth before. Yet he didn’t question God; he just obediently followed God’s instructions, built the boat and got in it. Wouldn’t life be simpler these days if we could hear, accept and obey God’s directions that easily? I like what William Jay had to say about it back in the 1700s.

We are not certain of what a day or even an hour holds for us. We cannot pierce through the future’s uncertainties. But we can think of God’s all-knowing ability and say, “With Him I leave myself; with Him I leave my loved ones; with Him I leave my business; with Him I leave everything that can befall me. Christians may put themselves and all their concerns on board this ship and give God the entire command of it. Let’s not, under any circumstances, call Him away from the helm, but leave Him to manage it all.

Noah didn’t even know where the boat was going to end up or how it was going to get there. It was all in the hands of his Captain! Oh friend, walk in that security today! Enjoy this journey as a mere passenger, looking to the Lord to direct every step of the course

“I have noticed this, that people who believe in ‘once saved always saved’ believe it because they’ve listened to someone who taught it. I’ve met many people who’ve only got their Bible, particularly the people in prison, for example, and with only the Bible they all come out on the other side. They’ve read in their Bible warnings that you can lose your faith.

In fact, I’ve discovered there are 80 passages in the New Testament that warn us not to lose what we’ve found in Christ. And when you look up those 80 passages it’s pretty impressive. Every writer in the New Testament has a warning somewhere, or a statement that we need to continue in faith, and not just start in faith.”

“Paul has some very clear statements. In Romans 11, which preachers rarely quote, it says: ‘if you do not continue in His kindness you too will be cut off.'”

QUESTION: “So what do you say to those Christians who say to you ‘God isn’t a liar. If God says my name is written in the Lamb’s book of life, He’s not going to at some point in the future get a rubber and rub my name out.'”

PAWSON: “Yes, he is, and the Bible says that. In Revelation, in one of the letters to the churches [Sardis – Rev. 3:1-6]: ‘He who overcomes, I will not rub out of the book of life.’ And the book of life is mentioned four times in the Bible, and three of those times concern names rubbed out.”

This is a balancing message — a message to bring us into balance.

Why our gospel, John 3:16 is not the true gospel.

The heart of the gospel is not that God loves us. We’ve made a terrible mistake emphasizing something the Bible does not.

“So we have had what I believe is an overemphasis on the God of love in our preaching to non-believers, something that the New Testament apostles never did, as I will show you from the Bible in a few moments.”

“Unconditional love” is not found in the Bible.

“God is righteous. … Everything He does is right. … You can trust God totally.”

“He died to make us holy.”

What kind of God do we present and what kind of gospel do we preach to a lost world ? Most Christians today answer in terms of God’s love, yet there are surprisingly few references to this in the Bible. … Particularly significant in the absence of any mention in Acts, the only record we have of evangelism in the early church.

By contrast, Scripture concentrates on divine goodness and righteousness. Everything God does is right; He is incapable of doing anything wrong. One day, He will put right everything that has gone wrong in His good world, punishing and banishing evil and making a brand new earth and heaven the ‘home of righteousness’.

But can we be a part of this? The good news is that, through the Cross and Resurrection, God offers His own righteousness to us, provided we are willing to repent of our sins and our self-righteousness. Bad people can be made good, sinners can turn into saints, the wicked can become righteous and we can be recycled to live in a righteous universe. The world needs to hear about God and the Gospel of righteousness

“Noah” the Movie: My Review – I just saw the movie “Noah.” On a 1 to 10, with “10” being high, it’s a “1.” The director, Darren Aronofsky, didn’t lie when he recently said “Noah” would be ‘the least biblical film ever made.’ Even fallen angels, whom the Bible calls demons, are mistakenly depicted as “rock transformers,” shown to be well intended, misunderstood protectors of Noah. The script has no resemblance to either God or the Bible. At times it’s “Fiddler on the Roof” meets “Bates Motel,” with psychopathic Noah threatening to kill his grandchild, if she’s a girl. World Vision has decided to embrace homosexual “marriage” among its employees and to recognize practicing homosexual employees who profess faith in Jesus as true Christians.

Remarkably, Stearns claims that World Vision’s moral standards have not changed, explaining that they still require “abstinence outside of marriage, and fidelity within marriage” for their employees. So, just redefine your terms, and poof! Sin disappears.

This would be similar to saying that World Vision still requires sexual purity, except that fornication is now considered pure, or that they still require marital fidelity, except that adultery is now considered fidelity.

The fact is that no matter how much two men or two women love each other, their union is not marriage in God’s sight—nor will it ever be—and their sexual relations, even if totally monogamous, remain sinful in his eyes.

Why I Reject the Contemporary ‘It’s All About Me’ Gospel

The New Testament gospel starts with God and tells us what we must do to please Him. The contemporary gospel starts with us and tells us what God can do to please us.

No wonder we are in such spiritual confusion and moral malaise.

When Paul wrote to the Romans, he wanted to be sure they understood the true gospel, and after declaring the gospel as the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (Rom. 1:16), the first major subject he addressed was the wrath of God.

That’s right. The wrath of God. Today, we dare not even speak about it.

But Paul knew better, stating, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth” (v. 18, ESV).

And he continued writing about this same subject for 14 verses.

What? He didn’t start with a message about God’s love? He didn’t start with a sweet sermon about how the Lord wants each of us to be happy and fulfilled?

I shared this on my Facebook page, this morning: My EUREKA! moment theory: the sin *minimizing*, sin *blinding*, sin *justifying* demons causing Christians to think and feel that their sinning is okay. “We must be clean.”

Eureka! prayer moment this morning!!! Jesus’ words, “Father forgive them, for THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO” also applies to born-again, “Spirit-filled” Christians who are willfully sinning, including hating and James-3 cursing us.

Jesus prayed this from the cross for the Jews who put him up there and who were meanly mocking him. I used to think that once a person is born-again and has the Holy Spirit to help them see and lead them into all truth (John 14 & 16), then they do KNOW WHAT THEY DO when they sin against us. But I’m finding that the only way I can fully forgive from my whole heart those ‘Christians’ who sin against me is if I think the way Jesus thought towards those who hated him.

So that’s key one — to be able to fully forgive anyone and everyone no matter what.

Then I took this one step further. HOW CAN BORN-AGAIN, “SPIRIT-FILLED” CHRISTIANS NOT KNOW HOW EVIL THEIR SINNING AGAINST US IS?

I’ve actually been thinking about this for a long time, and have proven from the Bible that born-again Christians can have evil spirits in them (article linked below). And I’ve said that “most have many,” because of the willful sinning that almost everyone is doing, today — including the hating and James-3 cursing of other people, to get their way.

But if they DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING when they’re intentionally hating others, praying against people, cursing people FROM THEIR HEART, what James talks about in chapter 3, verse 14 identifying the source location:

“But if you have *bitter jealousy* and *selfish ambition* IN YOUR *HEART*….”

…if THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING they must be blinded by SIN-JUSTIFICATION DEMONS that deceive people into thinking their willful sinning against others is okay.

So if we pray against the sin-justifying demons within people [our warfare not being against people but demons], then they’ll be able to see their sin more for what it is. [I say “more,” because on earth, I don’t think it’s possible to see how bad our sin really is.]

So my EUREKA! moment this morning was this awareness that people have what I’m right now calling sin-justification demons in them so even though they have the Holy Spirit in them, willful sinning has opened the door to demons being able to reinforce their sinning to the degree that many are BLINDED so they can’t see how bad their sins against others really is.

And if we PRAY THAT THEY’LL BE FREE from the sin-justifying demons, then they’ll be able to understand their willfully sinning state much better, and then they’ll be able to see more so their responsibility to get right with those they’ve hurt.

And when enough do ‘ONE’ can happen!!!!!!!

The more I ponder this statement the more full of gravitas these words become in my thinking.

Jesus taught us: our GREATEST PRIORITY, actually a command – the *greatest commandment* is to LOVE the Lord, our God with ALL of our HEART, SOUL, MIND and STRENGTH.

So shouldn’t Jesus’ priority be parents’ NUMBER ONE PRIORITY in training their children — leading by example?

This is foundational, rock solid truth!
