It seems that many born-again Christians today are questioning God’s justice in His decision to send people to hell. Some are getting bitter at God, so they’re practically shunning the greatest commandment, no longer wanting to worship God or actively trying to hear and obey — to be His legitimate sheep. Many have allowed themselves to be defiled by a root of bitterness, because they think that God isn’t fair. Bob Mumford called this being scandalized.

The Effects of the Revival

As revival fire spread across Wales in late 1904 and early 1905, although no official records were kept of the actual number converted, 150,000 is considered a very conservative estimate, during the first six months! People’s lives were transformed by the thousands. This was indeed, a sovereign move of God’s Holy Spirit!

Whole communities were turned upside down, and were radically changed from depravity to glorious goodness. The crime rate dropped, often to nothing. The police force reported that they had little more to do than supervise the coming and going of the people to the chapel prayer meetings, while magistrates turned up at courts to discover no cases to try. The alcohol trade was decimated, as people were caught up more by what happened in the local chapels than the local public houses [pubs] and bars. Families experienced amazing renewal, where the money earning husband and father, the bread winner, had wasted away the income and sowed discord, but now under the moving power of the Holy Spirit, following the conversion to be a follower of Jesus Christ, he not only provided correctly for family needs, but was now with the family, rather than wasting his time, and wages, in the public houses of the village or town. Souls were saved, individual lives were changed and Society itself was changed. Countless numbers were converted to Christ.

There are men and women still in churches today whose parents or grandparents’ testimonies were that they were converted in the Revival in 1904 or 1905. Not only were individual lives changed by the power of the Holy Spirit, but whole communities were changed, indeed society itself was changed. Wales again was a God-fearing nation! Public houses [pubs] were now almost empty. Men and women who used to waste their money getting drunk were saving it, giving it to help their churches, buying clothes and food for their families. And not only drunkenness, but stealing and other offences grew less and less, so that often a magistrate came to court, and found there were no cases for him.

Men whose language had been filthy before, learnt to talk purely. It is related that not only did the colliers put in a better day’s work, but also that the pit ponies were so used to being cursed and sworn at, that they just couldn’t understand orders being given in kind, clean words! Yet, still the work output increased. The dark tunnels underground in the mines echoed with the sounds of prayer and hymns, instead of oaths and nasty jokes and gossip.

People who had been careless about paying their bills, or paying back money they had borrowed, paid up all they owed. People who had fallen out became friends again.

It’s been very frustrating for me to see the anti-Ephesians-4:11-16 Christians outright speaking against and abandoning the practice of worshiping God together in song; though, it’s not just a practice that we know from experience brings us closer to God and He closer to us, but worshiping together in song is absolutely biblical, according to the New Testament too — not just the Old.

Here are some scriptures just from the New Testament. Of course, the Psalms are loaded with worship-to-God songs!

Jesus prayed that we would be ONE with each other in Him, “that the world will know!” (John 17)

This is actually the scripture that convinced me that Christianity was real, when I read the Bible on my own in high school. Paul and Silas sang songs to God in prison at midnight, after having been beaten.

Acts 16:25:

“But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.”

Paul encouraged the Christians in Rome to glorify God with one accord and with one mouth, that the God of hope would fill them with all joy and peace, abounding in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:

5 Now the God of patience and of encouragement grant you to be of the SAME MIND ONE with another according to Christ Jesus, 6that with ONE ACCORD you may with ONE MOUTH glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

7 Therefore accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you, to the glory of God.

Paul told the Corinthians that he personally sung in the Spirit (tongues) as well as in understanding (Greek), but in the assembly, where unfamiliar visitors could watch, they needed to cool it, and just sing and speak in Greek, to not freak the visitors out.

1 Follow after love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. 2 For he who speaks in another language speaks not to men, but to God; for no one understands; but in the Spirit he speaks mysteries. 3 But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, exhortation, and consolation. 4 He who speaks in another language edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the assembly. 5 Now I desire to have you all speak with other languages, but rather that you would prophesy. 23 If therefore the whole assembly is assembled together and all speak with other languages, and unlearned or unbelieving people come in, won’t they say that you are crazy? 24 But if all prophesy, and someone unbelieving or unlearned comes in, he is reproved by all, and he is judged by all. 25 And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed. So he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed.

God wants us to be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing spiritual songs to the Lord!

Ephesians 5:

15 Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise; 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore don’t be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing, and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God, even the Father; 21 subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ.

Colossians 3:

The writer to Hebrews, who wrote in 10:25 to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together had a profound understanding of worship. John Dickson and Chuck Pierce write in their book, Worship As It Is In Heaven describe this amazing Hebrews 2 text: “When we are together as a a congregation, Jesus…, in our midst He sings His praises to the Father. His testimony, that spirit of prophecy, that mantle, comes down on us in worship….” (source)

There was a fire in the middle of the disk, and blackness on the outer edge. The angel held his hand beneath the disk and reached far back in order to get more leverage.

I wondered who this giant angel was and what he was about to do.

Jesus knew my thoughts and said again, “This is outer darkness. Remember that my Word says, ‘The children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

“Lord,” I said, “You mean your servants are here?”

“Yes,” said Jesus, “servants that turned back after I called them. Servants who loved the world more than Me and went back to wallowing in the mire of sin. Servants that would not stand for the truth and for holiness. It is better that one never starts than to turn back after beginning to serve Me.”

I watched the dark angel as he cast the large disk far, far out into the darkness. “My Word means just what it says; they ‘shall be cast into outer darkness. …

I watched in ghastly fascination, wondering if I knew any of the fallen servants of the Lord who were marching past. I could not turn my head away from the sight of souls marching into the fire, and no one was trying to stop them. I cried, “Lord, please stop them before they reach the fire!”

But Jesus said, “He who has ears should hear. He who has eyes should see. My child, cry out against sin and evil. Tell my servants to be faithful and to call upon the name of the Lord. I am taking you through this awful place so that you can tell them about hell.”

Chapter 2

The Left Leg of Hell

Jesus and I stepped from the tunnel onto a path with wide swaths of land on each side of it. There were pits of fire everywhere as far as the eye could see. The pits were four feet across and three feet deep and shaped like a bowl. Jesus said, “There are many pits like this in the left leg of hell. Come, I will show you some of them.” …

I heard a cry from the center of the first pit. I saw a soul in the form of a skeleton, crying, “Jesus, have mercy!”

“O, Lord!” I said. It was the voice of a woman. I looked at her and wanted to pull her out of the fire. The sight of her broke my heart.

The skeleton form of a woman with a dirty-grey mist inside was talking to Jesus. In shock, I listened to her. Decayed flesh hung by shreds from her bones, and, as it burned, it fell off into the bottom of the pit. Where her eyes had once been were now only empty sockets. She had no hair.

The fire started at her feet in small flames and grew as it climbed up and over her body. The woman seemed to be constantly burning, even when the flames were only embers. From deep down inside her came cries and groans of despair, “Lord, Lord, I want out of here!”

She kept reaching out to Jesus. I looked at Jesus, and there was great sorrow on His face. Jesus said to me, “My child, you are here with Me to let the world know that sin results in death, that hell is real.

I looked at the woman again, and worms were crawling out of the bones of her skeleton. They were not harmed by the fire. Jesus said, “She knows and feels those worms inside.”

“God, have mercy!” I cried as the fire reached its peak and the horrible burning started all over again. Great cries and deep sobs shook the form of this woman-soul. She was lost. There was no way out. “Jesus, why is she here?” I said in a small voice, for I was very scared.

Jesus said, “Come.”

The path we were on was a circuitous one, twisting in and out between these pits of fire as far as I could see. The cries of the living dead, mixed with moans and hideous screams, came to my ears from all directions. There were no quiet times in hell. The smell of dead and decaying flesh hung thickly in the air.

Activity in Hell

“Listen to Me,” said Jesus. “What you are about to see and hear is true. Take heed you ministers of the gospel, for these are faithful and true sayings. Awake, evangelists, preachers, and teachers of My Word, all of you who are called to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you are sinning, repent or you will likewise perish.” …

Jesus knew my thoughts, for He said, “Child, there are many souls in torment here, and there are many different types of torment for these souls. There is greater punishment for those who once preached the gospel and went back into sin, or for those who would not obey the call of God for their lives. “

I heard a cry so desperate that it filled my heart with despair. “No hope, no hope!” he called. The hopeless cry came from the coffin. It was an endless wail of regret. …

A dirty-gray mist filled the inside of the coffin. It was the soul of a man. As I watched, the demons pushed their spears into the soul of the man in the coffin. …

As Jesus spoke, the man saw us. He said, “Lord, Lord, let me out. Have mercy.” I looked down and saw a bloody mess. Before my eyes was a soul. Inside the soul was a human heart, and blood spurted from it. The thrusting of the spears were literally piercing his heart.

“I will serve You now, Lord.” He begged, “Please let me out.” I knew that this man felt every spear that pierced his heart.

“Day and night, he is tormented,” the Lord said. “He was put here by Satan, and it is Satan who torments him.”

The man cried, “Lord, I will now preach the true gospel. I will tell about sin and hell. But please help me out of here.”

Jesus said, “This man was a preacher of the Word of God. There was a time when he served Me with all his heart and led many people to salvation. Some of his converts are still serving Me today, many years later. The lust of the flesh and the deceitfulness of riches led him astray. He let Satan gain the rule over him. He had a big church, a fine car, a large income. He began to steal from the church offerings. He began to teach lies. He spoke mostly half-lies and half-truths. He would not let Me correct him. I sent My messengers to him to tell him to repent and preach the truth, but he loved the pleasures of this life more than the life of God. He knew not to teach or preach any other doctrine except the truth as revealed in the Bible. But before he died, he said the Holy Ghost baptism was a lie and that those who claimed to have the Holy Ghost were hypocrites. He said you could be a drunkard and get to heaven, even without repentance.

“He said God would not send anyone to hell -that God was too good to do that. He caused many good people to fall from the grace of the Lord. He even said that he did not need Me, for he was like a god. He went so far as to hold seminars to teach this false doctrine. He trampled My Holy Word under his feet. Yet, I continued to love him.

“My child, it is better to have never known Me than to know Me and turn back from serving Me,” said the Lord.

“If only he had listened to You, Lord!” I cried. “If only he had cared about his soul and the souls of others. “

“He did not listen to Me. When I called he would not hear Me. He loved the easy life. I called and called him to repentance, but he would not come back to Me. One day he was killed and came immediately here. Now Satan torments him for having once preached My Word and saved souls for My kingdom. This is his torment.”

I watched the demons as they continued to march around and around the coffin. The man’s heart beat and real blood ran from it. I will never forget his cries of pain and sorrow.

Jesus looked at the man in the coffin with great compassion and said, “The blood of many lost souls are upon this man’s hands. Many of them are in torment here right now.” With sorrowful hearts, Jesus and I walked on.

In Doctrines Demystified, Hell is Real - Forever!

NOTE: The author, compiler chose all of the verses in which Jesus spoke about hell and destruction. I don’t consider Mt. 18:34 to be talking about hell. The tormentors are demons oppressing people on earth. Taking away one would then total 45 verses, but I add what Jesus said in Revelation 21, which keeps the total at 46; though, Revelation talks about hell in parts of the main narrative.

I’ve also excluded the less direct texts here.

We don’t need to know Greek to be able to clearly see that hell is real and eternal. And these are just Jesus’ statements on hell. There are many more references to hell in the Old Testament and in the rest of the New Testament.

Jesus used the word “fire” often, and sometimes “outer darkness.” Those who have experienced hell firsthand describe the blackest black darkness and also the fire. In hell, the light doesn’t dispel the darkness.

They also talk about the worms that eat the people’s flesh, and the flames that burn it. And then the flesh grows back for it to happen over and over….

Notice the many references to hell being an eternal state — Jesus’ words:

• “everlasting fire”
• “everlasting punishment”
• “eternal condemnation”
• “the fire that shall never be quenched”
• “their worm does not die”
• “unquenchable fire”

The preachers today are not faithfully preaching against sin, righteousness, judgment, and true repentance. You rarely ever hear them mention the word “Hell” in church or in their sermons but scripture is quite clear: hell is a real place. It is not mere unconsciousness. It is not temporal. John Murray, Professor of Systematic Theology at Westminister Theological Seminary in Philadelphia from 1930-1966, wrote what I believe to be the single most helpful chapter on the internal testimony of Scripture. In his chapter “The Attestation of Scripture,” in The Infallible Word, Murray handles objections raised against the idea of Divine inspiration and apostolic authority on account of the language used in such places as 1 Corinthians 7:10-12 and 1 Corinthians 14:37-38. In 1 Cor. 7:10-12 Paul employs phraseology that might be construed as unauthoritative judgment when he wrote, “Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her.” Does this mean that part of our Bible is not authoritatively binding–that these passages are just pious advice? Seeking to set out an accurate explanation of what Paul actual meant, Murray wrote:

The passage in I Corinthians 7:10-12 is sometimes understood as if Paul were instituting a contrast between the authoritative teaching of Christ and his own unauthoritative judgment on questions bearing upon marriage and separation- “But to the married I give charge, not I but the Lord. …But to the rest I say, not the Lord.” A careful reading of the whole passage will, however, show that the contrast is not between the inspired teaching of Christ and the uninspired teaching of the apostle but rather between the teaching of the apostle that could appeal to the express utterances of Christ in the days of his flesh, on the one hand, and the teaching of the apostle that went beyond the cases dealt with by Christ, on the other. There is no distinction as regards the binding character of the teaching in these respective cases. The language and terms the apostle uses in the second case are just as emphatic and mandatory as in the first case. And this passage, so far from diminishing the character of apostolic authority, only enhances our estimate of that authority. If Paul can be as mandatory in his terms when he is dealing with questions on which, by his own admission, he cannot appeal for support to the express teaching of Christ, does not this fact serve to impress upon us how profound was Paul’s consciousness that he was writing by divine authority, when his own teaching was as mandatory in its terms as was his reiteration of the teaching of the Lord himself? Nothing else than the consciousness of enunciating divinely authoritative law would warrant the terseness and decisiveness of the statement by which he prevents all gainsaying, “And so ordain I in all the churches” (1 Cor. 7:17).

With multi-million dollar sales, thousands of rabid fans packing concert halls, and even a magazine named after the movement, who can doubt the incredible sway CCM holds over the modern professing church? There are many problems with Contemporary Christian Music. Some of the most common issues, but certainly not limited to, would include the following…

UNHOLINESS

The CCM movement is characterized by musicians whose lives are anything but holy and separated from the world (I’ve personally confronted many of today’s most popular CCM artists and have not met one who professes to live a consistently holy life; not one. [1] “Why, of course we sin every day, who doesn’t?”, they say. see Lk 6:46; Jn 14:23-24; 1 Jn 2:4). The typical CCMstars that I’ve encountered may be sincere but are alarmingly ignorant of the Scriptures, unblushingly sinful, and doctrinally dangerous.

Men who have not been spiritually proven (1 Tim 3:6, 10) and who fail to demonstrate lives of indisputable character, holiness, and an unwavering fidelity to Jesus Christ, are unfit to lead others into the holy presence of God (Lev 21:8; Num 4:19; 2 Chron 23:6; Ps 96:9). According to the Scriptures, those who are allowed in positions of leadership and influence, especially over young people and children, must live holy (Lk 17:2; 1 Tim 3:2).

Moreover, who can deny the spiritual essence and quality of music? Music is a unique way to communicate “spirit” in a medium mere verbal expression alone lacks. Thus, in music, something mystical, even spiritual, is allowed to influence the soul. Those who either compose or perform the music itself impose and infuse the presentation with their own spirit. How could it be otherwise? Hence, to truly embrace music, whatever character it may possess, requires we open our heart to the spirit behind the song and commune. If the spirit communicated in such music is unregenerate, we are unwisely opening ourselves up to worldly influence (2 Cor 7:1; Eph 5:11).

A DE-EMPHASIS OF BIBLICAL TRUTH

Typically, songs in the CCM genre’ offer lyrical content that may contain some Biblical words or concepts but usually are either too shallow to communicate full Scriptural truth or subtly undermine sound doctrine (there are occasional exceptions). In 1999 I did a survey of the most popular “Christian” music airing on a local “gospel” radio station in Baton Rouge. [2] The survey essentially included the “Top 40” playlist of current hits by the most popular CCM artists of the day. Of course, love was undoubtedly the major lyrical theme of many of these so-called Christian songs. However, though love is indeed a central theme throughout the Bible, the word love, without qualification, does not unequivocally define a song as distinctly Christian. In other words, just because many CCM songs contain the word love does not qualify them as unmistakably Christian. Why? Because love is also one of the most popular, if not the most popular, theme in secular music as well. Hence, to use the term “love”, so as to judge a song’s spirituality, would be faulty. Whereas, the name of Jesus or terms and phrases like the “blood of Jesus”, the “cross of Christ”, or the “Holy Ghost”, etc. are rarely, if ever, mentioned in worldly music and therefore could possibly set a song “apart” as spiritual.

Nevertheless, what I found in my survey was shocking. For example…

• Amazingly, only 1 out of 8 songs mentioned the name of Jesus. How can you exalt Christwithout mentioning His name?

• The lyrics of less than 2 out of 10 songs mentioned terms synonymous with the gospel. Or, in other words, 80% of the music was so ambiguous that it failed to communicate basic Biblical truth. How can Jesus be exalted and the church edified if Biblical truth is withheld (Jn 4:23)?

• Only 3 out of 100 songs could be described as praise or worship songs (simply meaning “vertical songs” – or songs written and sang directly to God in praise, worship, or adoration).

Remember, this survey was undertaken in 1999. The CCM industry today has waxed far more liberal with unspeakable worldliness now overlooked or altogether condoned. As the Church of Jesus Christ, if our music does not clearly and boldly communicate the great truths of the Bible, it must be rejected (2 Cor 3:12; Col 3:16; 1 Thess 2:2-6).

DISORDER

Music, as defined by the Scriptures, has a very narrow and limited purpose, namely, to worship and glorify God (1 Cor 10:31; Col 1:16). CCM, though few would admit it, is generally ego-centric as opposed to what sacred music should be, namely, Christ-centric. In other words, the focus is the sound, the music, the musicians, the show, etc. rather than a simple, pure, and child-like effort to exalt and magnify Jesus Christ.

WHAT IS BIBLICAL GRACE?

Titus 2:11-13 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ…

Here in this New Testament passage, the attributes of grace are clearly defined. This definition contradicts what modern teachers proclaim. The Bible declares that a true believer is being constantly taught to deny ungodliness (wickedness) and worldly lusts (the fashionable trends of this present evil age) and to live soberly (moderately), righteously (just), and godly (holy), in this present world (now, today, before heaven). Why is it that so many church-goers profess to be partakers of God’s grace, yet their lives are unchanged? Many are brazen in defense of their worldly, shameful, and sinful testimonies! Dear friend, don’t be deceived. GRACE TEACHES MEN TO SAY NO TO SIN AND YES TO RIGHTEOUSNESS…thus saith the Word! How wonderful is the true grace of God!

GRACE TRANSCENDS THE LAW

Romans 8:3-4 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

How does the grace of Jesus Christ transcend the law? The grace of Jesus Christ frees the believer from sin! Jesus Christ makes His people free from sin (Matt 1:21)! Under the law, the sinner sees his sin, and struggles against it, but he has no power to overcome; he sinks deeper and deeper into despair. In his desperation he cries out to God in repentance, humbly surrendering to His will. Then, he is united with Jesus Christ and receives the grace of God. He still recognizes what sin is, but now he has power to overcome (Rom 6:14), and the devil is put to flight (James 4:7). Oh, what a marvelous difference it is!

BEWARE OF FALSE GRACE!

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible warns that there are false teachers who turn the grace of God into lasciviousness (fleshly indulgence). They convince multitudes that the grace of God allows mankind to live in rebellion to God’s commandments. They define grace as “unmerited favor;” therefore, there is no need to be concerned with lifestyles…”after all, we’re just forgiven sinners!” Oh, what lies are being preached today! It is indeed possible that a Christian may sin (1 John 2:1), but repentance will soon follow and he will continue in his life of holiness! The normal Christian life is free from sin and rebellion. Dear friend, don’t let the empty words of false teachers deceive you. Search the Scriptures and open your heart to the Holy Ghost! Humbly bow before the cross of Christ and cry out for the true grace of God which will save you from your sins! -B.W.

I pulled some wonderful thoughts and scriptures from Britt’s Facebook note.

I REALLY miss not having a sound local ‘church’ to be able to regularly attend. I do believe that all Christians should be an active part of the local body of believers. The problem is that most ‘churches’ are currently so toxic that it’s actually better not to go. James-3 cursing is rampant in ‘churches’ that don’t have biblically qualified, ‘blameless’ leaders as well as sound doctrine, such as we must overcome sin to be true Christians.

Until we hopefully soon have sound churches (hopefully there are some somewhere), it’s better to meet with a few than none at all. From my “Let Us Be ONE” prophecy part 15 of 33:

It takes two to have fellowship. No more, but more will come. Start meeting two by twos until more follow. Meet once a week, and pray aloud. Strengthen yourselves, and go to the nations. They will see your light and be glad. But first, start at home. Build yourself a base, a core of believers who know Me from the bottom of their heart.

You will see great things happen in your midst, and it will be fun, exciting to watch Me work in you to others. Let them see your light. Let it shine. Let it be bold. Don’t hold back. Live a life of love. Show others you care. Give them time, but don’t give into their ways. Let them be free, conquering their sin when they are ready.

I. THE LOCAL CHURCH PROVIDES THE MINISTRY OF PERFECTION.

III. THE LOCAL CHURCH PROVIDES AN ATMOSPHERE OF LOVE, SUPPORT, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND PROVOKING FELLOWSHIP.

Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

This is a spiritual fact: Christians generally need one another. When we are alone, we are robbed of the grace that flows freely through the body and the unique giftings of each member. But we tend to thrive in an atmosphere of mutual comfort, challenge, and obligation.

IV. THE LOCAL CHURCH IS A PLACE OF SPIRITUAL LABOR.

[Timesaver Tip!] How To Speed Up Online Videos — Offline Too!

[UPDATE October 2016] I’ve been using this option pretty much daily ever since posting this in 2013. It’s worked fine in all of the browsers I’ve tried. But recently, in Apple’s Safari browser (all other browsers I’ve tried are fine), the sound muffles slightly when videos are speeded up. The speed boost still works in Safari. I sometimes use it anyway, but for best playback audio quality, browsers other than Safari are preferred. Browsers I’ve tried that have excellent sound quality when speed boosted are Firefox, Chrome and Opera.

Most times, I was trying to speed up videos that I was viewing on the web. In these instances, the best program I’ve found is Enounce MySpeed . It’s a small app that monitors online videos. If the tool detects that it can adjust the video speed, it displays a small slider. This slider allows you to adjust video playback speed within a set range from .3x to 5x.

Speeding up YouTube Videos

If your primary goal is to speed up YouTube videos, there’s a free option in testing. You’ll have to sign up for the YouTube HTML5 trial and use a supported browser. You can see in the screen snap below, the YouTube interface is slightly different than in my previous example. The speed control is built into the bottom portion of the video frame. Clicking the Speed button opens a menu where you can increase the video playback from .25x to 2x.

As the speed feature is still in testing, it doesn’t work on all online videos. Some known limitations include full screen videos and videos with ads. There may be additional issues if you’re testing other YouTube features.

Sometimes the video you want to speed up is a movie you’ve downloaded to your computer such as an .avi, .wmv or .mp4 file. In this case, I would use Windows Media Player enhancements. The free program is included with most versions of Microsoft Windows and you can download the newest version from their site .
